Hi Friends!
Well, I didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but i spent a long time wrestling with tose 18th century sleeves and I finally got them in. I also made the Lady Watson Bustle Overskirt, although it needs trim before it can be bustled... next week... We also had a REALLY good mail week, so I'll show you all the new goodies I got for making better videos and lots of other relevant items!
I hope you all had a good week and I hope that you enjoy this video!

Sleeves and zippers are the bane of my existence and I've been sewing for 25 years. And unpicking is a sacrifice to the sewing gods for a successful project. I love how you were so calm. It looked like you wanted to punch a hole in the wall. :)

Oh goodness, every time your cat meows, I meow at my kitties thinking it’s them talking to me.

Yes!! I’m always trying to place the voice, and my cats are looking offended, like, “Who the hell is THAT?!?”

I love all the self-sassing commentary you added in the editing. "I'm going to do that tonight, hopefully." [Narrator: She was not going to do that tonight.] - ["J" is not a number, Noelle.] - "I'm going to carry on!" [Lies.] It sounds like my own internal monologue...

You can do it! I can’t wait to see it finished. You and Bernadette are inspiring me to work on something 18th century!!

Thanks for sharing. Your work looks beautiful. In your Vlog you asked us what we are working on. Currently, I am working on an 1860s ball gown. And yes, the sleeves did not go smoothly as I was hoping. The rest of it turned out quite well.

I cried a little with you when i saw how much you had to unpick... I took a sewing 4H class one summer, it was taught by my aunt and by the end of that class, i had several break downs on the floor of her sewing room. The only thing i mastered that summer was the art of unpicking. LOL. Everything is looking beautiful, and i hope you are able to find wall space for those awesome dress pics. thanks for the share!!

Poofy back of arm fabric is a necessity here too. Rotary cutters are HARD! You did a marvelous job on all the stuff. (I want all the fashion plate dresses too)

Weird mom tip. If you can find locally made honey it will help with your allergies to eat a little every day all year long. Local honey will have the local pollen and allergens in it that are outside so your slowly building up immunity over the year and when allergy season comes around you’re set because your body is already immune to them. 🖤

I share your sewing woes, managed to stain everything pink when washing a thrifted burgundy corduroy fabric, which I then cut two skirt panels out of only to realise that there was not going to be enough fabric to make the garment. (I didn't take into account the extra needed to match the wale of the corduroy). So I commend you for not burning the entire thing, but your skirt looks great now!

@@Costuming_Drama tried oxiclean and other things, no luck. Luckily there was nothing irreplaceable in the mix, I had just got some lovely sunflower fabric and would have just been devastated if it had been in that wash. It is now the Cursed Corduroy XD

Also, I'd never thought of laser engraving a wooden busk, very cool idea. I teach people how to use tech like laser cutters, 3D printers, e-sewing etc, this will certainly be added to my list of things to talk about!

You’re making great progress!! The 18th century dress is going to beautiful once it’s done! Oh and the redthreaded busk is soo pretty! Meanwhile I’m still using plastic cable ties from the hardware store in all my foundation garments haha!!

I'm finishing a cropped button down, why is it cropped you ask? Why, indeed? Great job on your sleeve, happy it finally worked out.

Yay!! Those sleeves look amazing!! I don’t even notice the “puffiness” that you’re referring to but I’m also not so well versed on the 18th century dresses as you are. Even though you feel like you haven’t made much progress, I feel like you did so much!!! It’s amazing the difference between views of an outsider and yourself can be! Great job!! I hope this next week was as productive as you had hoped! And thank you for sharing!!

@@Costuming_Drama my procrastination is going very well thank you! Hahaha! I told myself 2 more rows and then I can start the border. I've managed approximately 25 stitches in the 45 minutes. I don't understand why all the thinking about it I've been doing just isn't accomplishing anything. So odd. ;)

I'm currently working on an 17th century shift, using a simplicity pattern by American Duchess, and taking Jennifer Rosbrugh's class on 17th century shifts. I am hand sewing it. Her classes are great.

Hi! Could you share with me (if you haven't already) where your dress form came from? I have a very old one that isn't solid and nice like yours and it just isn't reliable for fitting stuff properly. LOVE your vlogs - keep them coming!

Lovely to watch you chat with us. ❤️ Sleeves are the devil. The only way to make sure that it works is to literally fail at it until you understand all the mechanics of sleeves. Over and over again. Ugh. I am currently taking a skirt that didn't come out as long as I wanted (just in two panels. Why?) and hemming it to a more 30's/40's tea length hem. Apparently when I realized I liked old fashioned clothes I did NOT just mean in the Victorian/Edwardian and earlier eras. 😂😜 So anyway. Hem pressed. Need to actually stitch it down. May do it the Bernadette way and fell it into place just to see if I like the way that looks. And I will also probably add some kind of decorative edge to the bottom, because I can. Should I do that before or after hemming, do you think?
