I could've probably laid a whopper of a comment being a mechanic, NOT an auto mechanic, because this is what I do for a living. But you did the two things that I knew you would. RESEARCH!!! AND make this one long video. If anyone was to make an instructional video about how to do this, I would absolutely choose that person to be you. Your work methods are solid enough that I've no comment except to say that you did a fantastic job. Absolutely entertaining and very instructional. Well done, Pete. As always.

Just wanted to stop by and relate my story because of you Pete... I have a 1959 Cushman Eagle. I inherited it from my Mom's husband Doc. It was his growing up and he cared for it dearly. He passed in 2020 and the Cushman came to me the year after. I had decided to make it a project when it didn't want to start. I knew from watching your videos that a slow methodical process, check and recheck and ask a question to those that have come before was the best way to approach. I have the shop manual and the owners manual and just last month my son and I started the slow process of tearing down and cleaning and ordering and rebuilding. While it's not an IH tractor, I use your methods and gain inspiration from your videos on tractor restoration and repair to motivate and guide me down my path. Thank you Pete for helping inspire me to bring Doc's Cushman scooter back to life.

This was very educational and I can feel your tension of wanting to get everything "just right". I particularly liked your talking to the part at 10:30 "... I'm just trying to put you in your home. This is what you were made to do... so you should be happy." That brought a smile to my face! 🙂 A mechanic who talks to his parts is top notch in my book. And the parts do talk back by what they do or don't do. Your patience is apparent and is to be respected - no sense rushing things which should not be rushed. Very zen. Thanks again, Pete!

I am a 54yr old mother of 8 in PA, homesteading with my husband still raising my two youngest children (who aren’t interested). We have cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats. We have a ‘72 international harvester 454, gas, that now has the back half of an ‘80. It’s working! I will never tear apart a tractor, but you are such a good teacher, I will watch you do it. I also think my husband picks up a lot of information and doesn’t hate his old tractor (all we could afford) as much after watching you appreciate your old beauties. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with us.

So much detail.so much patience and so much concentration. In this society where everything is "hurry up, hurry up." it's nice to see somebody slow down and make sure the job is done right. My Dad had and "H" when I was growing up and that thing was as much or more dependable than anything on the market today. I thoroughly enjoy your restoration videos and make an old tractor show room new again.

If it won't prime, remove the plug below the flow control plug. It's the one that takes 5/8 wrench. Don't like taking bottom plug out cause it may spit out the steering relief valve, jus more messy. I don't like the idea if people say to plumb a remote outlet to Mcv. Sure way to maybe blow a gasket. Can always add the air pressure in filler tube like you mentioned if needed with the 5/8 plug removed. That is the safest/best procedure if needed to get it to prime. Great series of Mcv videos. The only detailed video of rebuilding it. The best on RU-vid. You are going to get LOTS of views.👍

As a kid on the ranch, I remember my grandpa working on something in the general area as your torque converter. Let me tell you, I learned a whole new vocabulary that afternoon! The air turned blue! Now, I recall my grandpa (before he bought the ranch) worked on the railroad, so perhaps that language was a carry-over from days of frustration on the rails. My dad said, "You don't repeat anything you heard!" Mostly I obeyed. . . .thanks for this episode, Pete, it brought back another long forgotten memory.

Professor Pete. The man who details his repairs, seeks out problems that could occur, not afraid to admit to possible mistakes during assembly. I don't know what the shop rate in New York is at this time. You can be assured that it would be very expensive to have this done by local repair shop. I am sure that the dollar savings is awesome. I would not attempt this. I grew up on a farm where the biggest tractor was an "M". I have never had this type of equipment. Very enjoyable to watch. Always anticipating his next project.

The best mechanic qualifier is having an oil spotted rag hanging out of your back pocket. Useful for many things. "Meticulous tedious work of great detail," was probably said to Michelangelo as he hammered away on the David statue for the last bit of excess marble. The auxiliary control valve has brought out that same determination and for some, it's a work of art.

Yes, Pete, this has been all you wanted it to be for me anyway. Usually, I watch automotive builds that are high-tech and high-power and everyone holds their breath to see how long it takes to explode. And they do go boom sooner or later. But diesel engines in heavy equipment and tractor rebuilds or repairs generally have wear problems and maintenance issues. The engineering involved is geared for reliability and longevity using solid design and ingenious thought. That you've taught yourself to do all this fascinates me. Thanks, Pete.

Pete, hi. Love your RU-vid vids. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you put into them. I really like the drone pics and, of course, anything with animals. Q: You seem to be as much of a mechanic and electrician as a farmer; maybe more in total. I get that a farmer has to fix a lot of things themselves: time is money and money is money. Some things you do are fairly simple, but some are very complex. Do all the farmers you know do the same type of repairs as you do? Can someone make a loving farming if they are not as much of a mechanic as you are? Does someone have to know how to break-down a Farmall to the last O-ring? You obviously learned a lot from your Grandfather and Father at a young age. How does someone who is 60 get into the biz? I don't know a banjo bolt form a saxophone bolt. 🙂🙂Learning how to farm seems like a lot to learn, excluding all the side jobs. What's the minimum mechanic/electrician requirement to make a living farming? Thank you very much, Kim

As you went through the possible steps to bleed any air pockets I was wondering how they dealt with that problem when the tractor was built? I'd assume they didn't build a huge number of MCV's, but even if that's all you did I'd expect you'd spend time ($$) getting it to work correct unless they just passed it on to dealer to sort out. Thanks Pete, for taking the time to go through this. I also watch C&C Equipment (if you enjoy repair of heavy equipment try it) I keep think if things Like Pete's channel and the other had been something I'd been exposed to as a teenager .... course that would have been 70 years ago, so just another thing to dream about

These are the things that can test you to your limits. You make it look easy Pete but there is always editing out to bad words this type of work can cause to spill out of ones mouth. I especially like your point about checking and rechecking. Imagine the frustration if one had to do it all over again because you got into a big hurry. That is indeed a recipe for trouble. As always, thanks Pete for your very educational and informative videos. This was one of your best, hands down.
