65 year old here, and I’ve just started carving. I’m looking for a hobby I can take into retirement. Sort of fell into this when I got a random RU-vid of Doug Linker carving the 5 minute wizard. I really love these videos. I’m not a patient person but I’m working at it!
Really enjoying all of your videos. You have a great presentation style and you are very good at explaining things. I hope you will continue to make additional carving videos. Thanks for sharing your work, it’s great.
Hi, just found your channel and very much like your presentation method, carving in stages, but am disappointed that there are only a couple, do you plan to do any more? Have looked at your instagram page and there only seems to be photos of your other projects. Although new to this hobby am pleased with my results so far which gives me confidence to continue.
I learned it from Sarah Barraclough's books and projects in Woodcarving Illustrated Magazine. If you find the International Association of Woodcarvers TouTube channel they have a meeting where she demos her painting process that was extremely helpful for my learning. I usually paint it pretty much right away, maybe 10 or 15 minutes after oiling it.
@@dywoodcarving Thankyou for the reply. There is a lot of misinformation being spread around the carving community about the use of boiled linseed oil. I am going to try to find the source and hopefully correct it. I look forward to your future videos.
