Dennis you are one of those dying breeds who can do long stretches of talking without faltering and micro-cutting everything. Makes your videos very pleasant to watch.
Between 14:30 to 17:00 all flights from Europe with Passengers connecting to Asia, and all flights from Asia with passengers connecting to Europe arrive. For this reason, the lounge is super packed. At 17:00 all the connecting passengers have their flights connecting either Europe or Asia.
Dennis is now "officially" my favourite travel vloger. Great commentary always, and a great factual and witty commentary on his travels. I have found his videos informative and entertaining and will continue to look forward to his next contribution. Remember to add a splash of water to your whisky to release the bouquet and flavour though!! We (my wife & I) are avid flyers, taking advantage of frequent flyer programs to fly first class whenever possible and use Dennis' vlogs to guide us on the best possible airlines and routes. Cheers Dennis and keep up the good work.
I’m a flight attendant and I’ve now asked my passengers “would you like a drink from the bar?” Thanks for the tip! Hope to catch you on one of my flights someday! “Cheers, here’s to a great flight.”
Great video and very nice shirt. I often listen to your videos at work ( without watching them) when I’m at my desk and feeling a bit stressed. As the intro and your great narration gets me excited about my upcoming trips. I wish you all the success. Keep up the great work
I really enjoy your comprehensive no nonsense reviews and have , in fact , chosen certain airlines on the strength of your reviews and have not been disappointed. Thank you for taking the time to produce such fantastic reviews, I know it is not anywhere near as easy as you make it look. Well done
I love how you include the information about your travel in the description box (like the distance and time, date and type of plane etc). I always click on that first so I can get some idea of your travel.
With regards to the footage of the engine on the Japan Airline’s aircraft, I must say it is a good sign, for the reason that the engineers are addressing a problem immediately and not waiting until they get to maintenance hub.
Seriously?! PINE flavored ice cream?! COOL! Thanks for a great video series! I don't travel - but do live vicariously thru your excellent videos! Thanks Mr. Dennis!
Terrific report. So enjoyed your commentary...a highlight of course is your dry humour and happy delivery. Thanks for sharing. I might have to watch again for Santa's sake 🦌
Thank you so much for posting these absolutely amazing videos, Mr. Bunnik! it is an absolute pleasure to watch you in each video in a different part of the world and we appreciate the lengths and time you take off from your trip to film your experience for us :D
You are so very good at giving us an airline review. Enjoy your sense of humor. Keep the videos coming! Too bad no pajamas! We know how you like them! Maybe next time!
Hi Dennis! Thanks for featuring Finnair again. I can see from your videos, that Finnair has finally upped their Business Class food service. No more trays in business class, it seems. The Finnish Gin they serve is also very nice, and I'm happy you like it. Finnair has some very nice flight attendants, and it would be nice to see some of them in your videos, too. Looking forward to my Finnair travels in July :) Keep the videos coming! Thanks :)
Really cool. Was hoping you would do the A330 on finnair since I've flown it myself a few times also from Helsinki - Osaka (and back). I'm bit of picky eater and never really liked the finnair menu but I had the fortune to ride in the thrones seat once and it was glorious experience. :)
Struth ! No Pyjamas? Oh well... food looked great. thank you for letting me vicariously travel where I cannot go, do things I cannot at the moment afford, and sharing the whole thing with soothing, interesting, and laconic expertise. I enjoy your videos immensely, and I think you are doing something unusually great even though on the surface it may seem very simple. Cheers. Simon.
Awesome video! Love your humour throughout the video! The Helsinki lounge is incredibly busy because nearly all Finnair's Asian flights leave at the same time. I was flying Helsinki to London last year. When I entered the lounge, there was virtually no seat available, but then in 30 minutes nearly everyone disappeared!
Really love your video’s. It gives me the feeling as if I am flying myself. You have a very natural way of presenting and that make the video’s very pleasant to watch. Thank you for sharing your travels. 😘🇳🇱
Looks fantastic and very comfortable! I have a One World Alliance account. In the future, I will fly Business Class with Finnair and I will be able to collect loads of frequent flyer miles for my One World Alliance account.
I propose a drinking game: have a shot every time Dennis says "Here's to a grrreat flight," "Gin & Tonic," "pajama," "is laid out in a [n.n.] configuration," and "the seat converts to a fully-flat bed." :-D
Always look forward to your videos Dennis, and this one was excellent as usual. Wish I could do one of these with you, as your quality control & editing are top notch. 👍
I really like your travel videos. I have not done a long haul or jet lag for some time. Been traveling within Australia. The passport is dusty and unused. Glad to watch you live the dream. Cheers.
The Northern route. Yes. Over the North Pole, down towards Alaska and then onto Japan. It is a shorter route. Finnair looks great, I really like the bright cabin decor and the food looked simple but tasty.
It really was a stroke of genius for Finnair and Finavia to start focusing more on the Asian connection a few years back. Finland is in a pretty remote northern corner as far as Europe is concerned, but at the same time it means Helsinki really is the closest major airport to East Asia when you go over the North Pole.
Thanks for the TR, a high quality once again! This summer Finnair fly A350 to KIX, their A333 cabins will get a face lift but it takes some time unfortunately. The pine ice cream "1917" celebrates Finland's 100y of independence, Jymy is a great little ice cream maker. Little trivia: Finns eat more ice cream per head than any other Europeans, Aussies are ahead of us though ;)
Hi Dennis. As per usual a very professional and informative video. I recently travelled on an A330 from Singapore to BKK. I found the seats older and the noise noticably louder, especially after travelling from London on SIA A380. I am thinking of travelling on Finnair to BKK via Helsinki as I want to try their A350 which you reviewed recently. I have tried nearly all the airlines to BKK from LHR in both First and Business. Thanks also for the heads up recommending Paul Stewart which I recently subscribed to.
Great review, and a great product. I don't know why, but I love getting aircraft with some special livery. Must be an AVGeek thing I guess! Loved the shots of the other Finnair aircraft going to Shanghai, too. Epic!
Fantastic as always... I think Finnair more than made up for the lack of pyjamas with those slippers. Pretty stylish! I could see myself sauntering through a connecting airport in those...
Given the lack of pyjamas, I think you now realise the missed opportunity of the Reindeer Pelt! Chestnuts roasting on an open fire up at Bunnik Travels at 35k' and an excellent gift for your employee of the month when the flight was over. I'm curious as hell though as to what the jobsworth in the vis vest had in the spray bottle at boarding. This frightens me......dead Reindeer ?? Nice one as usual.
Nice review, once again! Had the pleasure of flying the “thrown” seat on the A340 a couple of years ago. It was a great experience! Leg room on the thrown seat was somewhat limited (I’m tall). That was my only complaint and the price was on par with premium economy on other airlines.
I'm the same with you about buying things at the airport, though i'm surprised you did not go for any of the Lapponia, a very popular drink. I also agree with you on that lounge, both are always pretty packed. I can't believe how empty the business class cabin was, interesting. The food looked great and I would eat most of it. And also great capture of the other Finnair aircraft, your camera has a pretty amazing zoom. Great video Dennis.
Yes Finnair lounges at HEL are packed in the mornings and afternoons, outside these hours there is plenty of room usually. There are long haul flights departing to HKG and BKK later in evening, those lounges are peaceful then.
haha - it's important to keep Santa happy! Yes it's the same sort of seating MH have on their A330 - throne seat is good for daytime flights because you've got heaps of space but limited foot room when in bed mode.
Dennis sir I am big fan of yours I really like the way you explain all the things and I personally feel that you are one of the best youtubers for flight review I am really fond of planes and I take the best of it when I fly, sir I would really like to once fly with you and sir I even have a small wish that I always wanted to know what happened behind the scenes with the cabin crew in the galley in-flight so if possible pls upload a video on that ,once again i would like to say your videos are aweeeesssooommme Best regards Krish
loved you trying out all the seats... 😂 It looks a great cabin (even if it's slightly older) and food... looks like a great flight all round... shame the lounge was so busy... I think that more and more airlines are finding that their premium lounges are busier and busier... is that because more people are flying more than ever now, so attaining premium status?
Looks like the second good flight in a row with FinnAir. Noting they're a OneWorld provider, might make sense to utilize them for my next long flight to Europe from the West Coast. You make amazing videos and I love finding them on my main youtube screen. Keep up hte great work. Question ; besides videotaping and running around a mostly empty cabin, what do you do to keep yourself entertained on a flight? Side note, next time you're in America you might have to try the JetBlue "Mint" first class, it's pretty unbelievable.
Dennis, I noticed the gravalax entree had been matched up with Devils Corner Riesling from te=he east coast of Tasmania, a bit of Australia in Scandinavia.
Great trip report as always. Love your positive style and the Aussie/Dutch mix. :-). I am a OW flyer and I have always avoided Finnair because the stories are that the seats are narrower than most and quite hard, almost spartan. How do you rate them against CX and QR for instance? Also, I would be interested to know how you rate value v quality. It is an ongoing debate between some frequent flyer friends of mine. Yes, maybe SQ is better on long haul (especially F) but they are also often twice the price on similar routes. Is it really fair to compare BA , AF or KL against them? Maybe interesting to do a video about that some day. Keep it up! Always happy to see a new report posted. Groeten uit Den Haag!
