He’s also protecting her from getting pimped out by producers, managers, labels, other artists making hits off of her collaborations. Good job brother. Majority of people have no idea what’s its like having producers sink their teeth into your brand. Once it begins, it never ends. Then you get that situation that The Weeknd was in years back where you couldn’t hear a song without him on it. He got over exposed.
@@Adrianaxo. yeah Ik but as a big brother u should protect ur little sibling. Especially from being groomed. Que was older finesse that’s how weird and disguisting it was. And clearly her parents didn’t care or protect because they also allowed it to go on
@@Salty1712 that’s very true I agree, but if she wanted to stay in that relationship that’s her issue and her fault, parents/brother can’t force her to break up when they wanted her to just live yk even tho what she was doing was had
@@harjotgill6162 espeically now when its easy to get the software on your computer to make it. Back in the early 2000's it was alot harder to find, let alone know, what the right software was. Getting the equipment is still easy since there are so many forms and places online to find what to find where and how to do it. The problems arise with micing up the equipment.
aljanat5 if this was true you should have gone to a court instead of asking for likes on the comment section, i said it and i'm gonna say it again, get a life
I’m glad he’s so mature and protective of her. There are so many pedophiles and abusers in the music industry that he needs to watch over her. Look at other artists: Britney, Demi, Selena, all in rehabs and mental issues due to predators.
Amazing how a brother and sister who were raised in a musical environment. Were home schooled and put all their time and energy into music found a way to slice right through the music industry and dominate the charts. A GUY and his sister with a computer and a microphone in their bedroom...become the biggest artists of today?? Pretty incredible and oddly refreshing I’d say.
@Sir Apolo agreed. Actually, it's extremely common for a music producer to get big just from their bedroom but extremely rare for a singer. Even more that they're a sibling duo
@Amy McGraw-Pate it's always odd to me while people like mr Deli 6505 seem to specifically target billie. i've never seen the kind of weird hate on any other artist
Finneas is the only rightful producer for his own sister. And yes it is his. And that's his sister and is the only one who allows her signature talent to go the way Billie wants it. Because at the end of the day, it's producers from within the music industry who want what he has, the sound, the writing and his sister, in which they cant have any rights to. Because once that is broken, and the industry takes Billie in, she will never sound like Billie again, they will destroy who she is as the true artist she already is now and had been since she was 4 yrs old. The industry destroys and fucks up the artist. They dont desrve her, yes Finneas, you tell them to fuck off.
Pride of Origin that happened to the singer JoJo. And she decided to leave singing behind until her contract was over vs working with her producers anymore
@@Kessekom Give Billie some credit, she has a mind of her own. Also, I hope you are aware that this interview was made before the Grammys so the whole point about him getting bigheaded is so misplaced. But assuming you already knew this, I hope you are also aware that Billie won Artist of the year at the Grammys as well so by your logic, she could also get "bigheaded and control his every move". See how that assertion is very absurd? You don't know these people, cut it with the assertions. Plus if we had to take an educated guess based on how they present themselves and their personal and professional relationship, that is the LEAST likely thing to happen. Notice how in this interview (and others) Finneas (and Billie) allude to the fact that they have a working formula and "if it's not broke, why fix it". So again, it is VERY unlikely that Finneas will get bigheaded and control BILLIE's (of all assertive people) every move.
Yes! Siblings will despise each other one minute but be ready to die for them the next. Because we truly do love each other, no matter how many times we argue.
Damn right. Why mess with something that has been a success? Obviously she will work with other producers at some point in her career, but Finneas is great at what he does.
Just love those two. Plus he is absolutely right, as a producer and a brother he knows what she needs and will work endlessly to get there for her. He knows that the industry is brutal and she would be forced into an image/sound that isn't exactly her and he's protecting her, plus he's an amazing producer anyway no one could do any better than him
Lol his response to the territorial question was EVERYTHING!! “Yeah uh how many producers have worked with Billie… count em! I’m super territorial, like back fucking off that’s mine!” 😵💀😂
I mean he’s done it pretty well so far. They make music they want to, I don’t think being “hot” is necessarily want they want. I think making a product that they want is their main goal, and if it becomes a hit then great. So I don’t think she necessarily needs to work with other producers to keep being successful. Because she’s achieves massive success just doing what’s she’s doing, and what she wants.
Yes of course she is going to want to venture into something different. She said she’s not going to stay in the same style or create music with the same sound forever. Hell, that change is evident between her album and her Ep. however, Finneas was there for the transition, and it happened very successfully. And she’s said that she just wants to make music with Finneas. And he’s also produced for other artists who have much different sounds than Billie. Finneas isn’t a one trick pony, so him continuing to produce her music through the long run won’t have an adverse effect on her career. In fact I think it will be beneficial. She has someone who knows what she wants/likes and what she doesn’t. And from there they can evolve and experiment.
I think FINNEAS decision to only be her producer is something special. He clearly wants to distinguish their sounds from others which is how they got here today.
As well he should protective of Billie. Not just as a producer but especially as her big brother. They started this career together. Other producers will rush an album just to make money and make her sing songs she doesn't want to sing and she'll end up hating the music and the producer(s) like so many other artists. He knows her better than anyone else and knows what her sound should be and how to get it out of her. Everyone else can kick rocks lol
Some are taking what he said out of context. This is his career we're talking about. He is a musician and producer. He makes money and royalties with each song he produces. How would you like someone trying to cut into your business and take financial gains from you. Also, I saw in another interview that he never pushed her into wanting to make music. He encouraged her to pursue music but he never forced her to do anything until she was ready. So he patiently waited for her to want to make music for years. And now she finally does. She's his sister. I think he has her best interest in mind. They are a team. They are a duo in actuality but chose to just go with Billie's name instead of a band name. Now imagine some producer coming along and trying to break up this duo. Not a smart move. Also, if you didn't know. Many producers are one-sided uncompromising megalomaniacs. Many will not let the musicians have any input in the production and recording aspect of their own music. Many take advantage of the talent, making them do a hundred takes when they already have a great cut to work with. Many will produce an artists songs in a way that the artist doesn't approve of. Basically what he and his sister have done is working. Why would they want to mess with a formula that is already a big success. He already knows his sister better than any producer. They came up together. I personally would like them to stay together and continue as they are doing.
Ugh not the Carpenters. Google about Carol Burnette and The Carpenters. They were the only ones she ever kicked off her set. Look up the way Richard and her mom treated her. There are do many horrific stories about poor Karen and how she was treated by her family.
michal - I'm just saying that one day she might want to branch out and work with other people, and I just hope that Finneas isn't too possessive of Billie.
My guess is in 4-6 years they will branched out when they become more mature musically. They would eventually venture out and try other sound production style away from what they are used to. But for now they are the right person for each other. And as Billie grows older her voice will change. Surely her music will be different from what it is now.
It will never happen. She is devoted to her brothers wise and knowledgable talent. She went see any other producers in the same way. It will break her if she was to ever quit Finneas for another producers. Nope. I heard she said she won't work with anyone else other than her very own brother..
If she was ever to branch out it would be to branch out with her brother in my view, that would be the stipulation. For two reason, 1 as it’s her brother and she appreciates what he has done for her and 2. He doesn’t want her unique sound and way of delivering records compromised.
She’ll need to expand and explore which she can’t do with her brother-other talent will bring something new to her-look at the greats Bowie etc everyone needs to continually look to push themselves!
I would imagine that Billie has a strong sense of self, if she didn’t like what Finneas did, or his producing style, she would’ve told him to step off. She’s not a quiet little mouse you know. They TRUST each other & that element cannot be bought. He wants only the best for her, & presently, his direction is right. It’s like you’ve never heard Billie in an interview.
"not sounding like Billie" is The major problem.. Like I dont like Billie Song with Rosália, Because it doesn`t sound like Billie. It sounds like Rosália.. I think ONLY Phineas can make songs Billiiish
Unlike other producers provided by the record label, FINNEAS doesn't try to play it safe...so he experiments with the music.. Which indeed created the masterpieces
Ok some of you teeny boppers won't like my opinion but Finneas' language is worrying to me. I understand he's protective of Billie both as a big brother and let's be frank she's his golden ticket.. but HE DOES NOT own her. She is going to want to branch out one day without him and unless he stops being so territorial, they are going to have some issues. He should be supporting her not controlling her.
Thy make an adorable couple and I am as enamoured as the rest of the world by what seems like this super-close sibling relationship, but Finneas often drops little red flags that all is not perfect in paradise, and referring to producing Billie as "Back the fuck off, that's mine" is just one such red flag. There are other moments in the documentary which are similarly revealing. Much as I don't want to, I can't help feeling that he's just a tad controlling and sees his sister as a passport to wealth, if not fame. I have a suspicion Billie knows it too.
This mindset inevitably will cause friction between he and billie. If Finneas is allowed to work with other artists, billie should be allowed to work with other producers. I imagine there are a plethora of amazing producers that would love to work with billie that can offer something that Finneas cannot. Also, "That sh*ts mine" will never not sit right with me.
