One very helpful thing EU and USA should star doing now is to prepare the investments to be planned for the reconstruction of Ukraine asap as soon as hostilities end. In other words, take it for granted that UKRAINE will be the winner, no matter how long is the war. Would appreciate comments.

I was born in Russia but have lived in the West for most of my life. Naturally, the war in Ukraine is currently the most concerning geopolitical issue to me and I've read a lot of articles and listened to a lot of podcasts about the conflict. I must say that Fiona's analysis of Putin's motives and Russian mentality in general is by far the most accurate, and the insights she provides are truly unique. I highly recommend this and her other interviews to anyone interested in deeper understanding of the conflict, particularly the interviews she gave to NY times-hosted podcasts.

Unfortunately, NYTimes has many US slanted stories. They seem to be losing readership, because I have attempted months now, to unsubscribe from my account with them. Or, for a refund since they cannot find my account for which I pay a monthly fee for the "privilege" of reading them. This woman speaking does not address the fact that the invasion is a US instigated Proxy War, against Russia. Obviously, reinterpret_cast has swallowed MSM's propaganda, which is typical of those that only listen to one side of this sad saga!

One other tip, if you'll accept it from humble old me, is that she worked closely with John Bolten and keeps getting labeled as a 'hawk' by a left (and progressive left) that I usually belong to, but when talking about certain geopolitics (Slav and China v.s. Thankfully she has been allowed to expand on her thoughts concerning the global ramifications of the war in Ukraine. @sheilamartin880
@sheilamartin880 Год назад
Not world wide as they don't supply the entire world but Africa and Asia will be greatly affected. It won't completely solve the problem but the US is currently working with farmers to do "double cropping" to replace some of the shortages and working with other countries to get them to do the same. Double cropping is when you grow 2 different crops that are grown in different periods of the season and they don't deplete the soil but actually restore it for the other crop. For example our soy bean farmers will do their normal crop of soy beans and then do wheat that they don't normally grow to replace some of the wheat harvest that will be missing from Ukraine.

I disagree with Ms Hill's analysis of the Russian government's motives. She is part of the mainstream media. I was born in the Soviet Union and spent half of my life there and another half in Europe. Also, I still have friends living in Russia and Ukraine. This war is between the US and Russia. Ukrainian people and ordinary people of the world are victims. I believe a much more accurate analysis is done by John Mearsheimer, Stephen Walt and Stephen Cohen.

I think Kissinger's position expressed by himself at the recent Davos forum is the wisest to put an end to this bloodshed and all the risks involved with a latent nuclear war. Is it right that the U.S. grants 40 billion dollars on the plate for this distant war while domestically the U.S. don't have even the baby formulas for their children? And what about the illegal immigration issue? I think the US administration should focus more on its domestic affairs rather than wasting a huge amount of hard earned taxpayers' money for the war in Ukraine.
@edc1569

Wasting? Kind of depends on if you think the USA should be a world power (for its benefit internally) or should just let China take over and cross its fingers.
