Very good video on this machine and I've watched them all! I know that the machine was not designed for single dose (i will use primarily for filter) but can you recommend an aftermarket bellows/popcorning device as I usually only make enough for my wife and myself at one sitting. I most definitely will not use the hopper! Maybe some kind of round wooden pestle/follower device to give weight for the single dose?? many thanks and greetings from Brooklyn, NYC, USA.
Perfect and quiet grinder but I'm bit disappointed that it is not stepless. Sometimes to get an excellent espresso it needs to adjust grinder to 1/2 of step
I just bought one and waiting for you What's the setting you picked for grinding espresso? Is it the one at 4:54? 2nd question. I like the background music, I tried Shazam but no luck. It brings the original song (Egyptian) but this seems like a remix
The actual settings for espresso changes between each new AllGround grinder. There is no use telling you the actual number on the dial, or for you to tell someone else the number you are using. The beans origin, the roast profile and age of the beans also affect the settings. Thereby, espresso must be calibrated on it's own merit on the day you are brewing them.
Great video! Could you please share the single dosing hopper that you use for it? If I saw well in the video you did not use the hopper and judging from the retention this would be amazing for single dosing as well. Thanks!
To prepare only espresso, do you recommend this or another brand? It seems like a great mill that happens that does not have much information in forums or websites Other burrs could be adapted just for espresso. I really like its aesthetics
Actually, I find the burr is actually optimized for espresso. For filter, it is decent but primarily it makes great espresso. If I'm not primarily for espresso, I will not get this grinder.
@@KFChan Express love will be 100% of my coffees I have the baratza forte mill, you already know the brand, I wanted to make the leap to this brand with bigger wheels and I have my doubts
@@Giannixeneize I've only used the Sette in the Baratza brand. Grind quality of Sette is good, but it heats up fast and once it gett hot, grind quality decreases immediately. Built quality of AllGround is WAY WAY better than Sette and way more quiet. It's not the same category due to the big price difference. Not apple/orange comparison. But I have no regret on whatever I say about AllGround. It's excellent.
Hello thank you for the review, I do 50/50 v60 filter and expresso. That wouls replace a F4 nano. Would their a sufficient step up in quality for filter use ? not talking about the ease of use, or should I buy a commandante on top of my nano for the filter brews ? many thanks
It's quite a difficult decision even for me. While the AllGround makes very good espresso and I would say it is better than F4 nano, and can also easily be set for filter coffee, BUT if the usage is 50/50, I would think it is quite a hassle to switch back and forth all the time. When you switch from filter back to espresso, some particles of coarser grind will stuck inside. You will need to flush out using ... I guess even up to 20-30g of coffee to ensure espresso extraction is good, especially if you are fussy about your espresso. I would probably use the F4 nano for espresso only and the commandant for filter.
Thanks very much for your answer which helps a lot cause even though the allground is and looks very nice at the end of the day what matters is upper quality in filter coffee for the bucks put into it ! Thanks
@@nicolaskuch1128 Oh, don't get me wrong. It grinds very well for filter. I meant to say, if you need to switch back and forth between espresso and filter frequently, may not be that optimal to use. If I'm using either 20/80 or 80/20, I'll go for the AllGround without hesitation.
@@KFChan alright I get your point I brew 8g filter in the morning then 18g expresso early afternoon then 8g filter at night. Everyday 365 days a year. I feel that nano is good enough for me for expressos. I hear that ut is terrible for filter coffee. Because of non homogeneous grind and particules. It’s true that it’s a bit messy and sometimes hard to keep with 3m15s extraction because of that. If I spray a bit of water over the beans then no particules anymore but taste and flavor drops poorly... So I would like to get something that works with the push of a button cause kind of comfy and get a great taste for both expresso and filter. But I enjoy the nana well enough for expressos and if commandante is better than allground for filter, like better better then you know that is the question cause at the end of the day I enjoy mostly that flavor in the cup and would love to get the best filter !!!
No chance to try the Mignon XL. But this one definitely easier to clean the internal burr chamber. Also, the large dial makes it easier if you are those planning to use it for multiple brewing methods.
