That's right, Fiorillo's works resemble Telemann's very much, but they are a bit more modern in taste. Take the intervals for example: many more thirds, just like Mozart would write them.

Federigo FIORILLO 1755 -- 1823 mandolinist and composer, who wrote thirty-six caprices for violin, also called études … Fiorillo's father was Ignazio Fiorillo, a Neapolitan, who also played mandolin. He performed at most of the royal courts of Europe, but the resources of the instrument at this period were limited, as was also the demand for mandolin players. He was compelled to devote his attention to other stringed instruments, principally the violin and viola. In 1780 he travelled to Poland, and in 1783 he was conductor of the band at Riga for two years. Two years later he was playing the violin with success at the Concerts Spirituels in Paris ... Fiorillo's other compositions include concertos, duos, trios, quartets, and quintets, for stringed instruments … WIKI

Beautiful music. It is interesting that this composer was born in Germany, so he is a mix of Italian and German musical spirit.
@christophernicholls3767
@christophernicholls3767 9 лет назад
mariveneta They were all taught by, or taught by someone who was taught by, the Italians. After all they invented the music in the first place. So theoretically the German composers of this time and onwards until the mid-1800's had strong Italianate influence.

@axiomist1076
@axiomist1076 8 лет назад
Spaghetti Toaster?! Ha, that's cool. No, he said they invented the music. Meaning this type of music. I really don't know. I'm just clarifying what Christopher said. In any case, this type of music is wonderful. This is the real "soul music".

FEDERIGO FIORILLO (1755-1823C.) Six quatuors pour Flute, Violon, Viola & Violoncelle Born in Germany (near Hanover) Federigo descended from a family of Neapolitan musicians: an ancestor, Carlo, had published a book of madrigals in the 16th century, and his father, Ignazio, had made a name for himself in Europe as a composer of operas and maestro di cappella. When Federigo was born, one did not have the impression that the center of European musical culture was moving from Italy northwards, especially towards Germany. Haydn was 25 years old at the time, Scarlatti and Händel were both in their seventies, Bach, soon to be forgotten, had already been dead for 5 years. Mozart would be born 9 months later, and Beethoven after little more than decade. An excellent violinist and violist, Fiorillo was also a soloist on the mandolin as well as a pedagogue. His Etude pour le violon formant 36 caprices are still well-known among violin students today, while harpists might practice his 72 exercises for the Harp. His compositions also include some works written for the harpsichord and others for the piano, a sign that times were changing. At the age of thirty, Federigo traveled to Paris and participated in the Concert Spirituel directed by the Philidors, a grand family of composers, performers and instrument builders. While there, he undoubtedly met Françoise-André, the most famous of the Philidor family: a composer, French exile (escaping creditors), and excellent chess player, his compositions include 6 quartets for flute and three strings. A few years later, Federigo Fiorillo printed his own 6 quartets for flute, violin, viola and cello. Two editions exist which are practically identical: the first dates to the beginning of the 1790s (though the precise date is unknown) and was printed in Paris by Sieber (as was his op. 4); the second was published in Berlin in 1798 (as was op. 7) by Hummel (whose catalogue also contained works by Haydn). The dates of these compositions are thus uncertain, a common situation for the music of the 18th century, a period in which “author’s rights” did not yet exist and title pages often did not indicate the date of publication. Ensemble À l’antica: Luigi Lupo, flauto · Rossella Croce, violino · Luca Ronconi, viola · Rebeca Ferri, violoncello · Luigi Lupo, direzione

I had to look deeper regarding this. Canaletto had just arrived in London at the time of the completion of the construction of the Westminster Bridge. His paintings were to represent a pictoral history of the city, giving the viewer a sense of time and place. One commentor stated that the hanging bucket is possibly used to break up the large arc formed in the view. Another thought is that, to the artist, it is simply as a personal touch of reality as might have been there when he himself was watching the final touchup of the construction.
@jimmccue8063
@jimmccue8063 2 года назад
@@rsjmd The latter, surely? There are other loose bits of rope and the like around the arch, and the bridge would not have been finished with all the wooden structure on view like that...
