Gotta love the sounds of mechanical horns in a library! My old library also has 2903s and 9838s, but I have not been there since like 2016 so I don’t remember what panel is there.
@@TFEAS-09 That grille/cage thing was likely part of the original system (one that existed prior to the even the 2001, based on that annunciator cabinet underneath).
I think a booster panel that outputs filtered DC needs to be put in. The FWR is gonna destroy those horns. Sounds like one is already about to quit working at one point in the video.
@@LunaReviews They don’t use circuitry but what happens is that FWR has an inconsistent waveform unlike filtered DC. The inconsistency in the waveforms messes up the vibrations mechanism and eventually kills the horn (just like the wheelock horn in the video). That also explains why the horns don’t have a smooth tone and sound like junk, and that is why mechanical horns need filtered DC. There are videos that go into much more details on RU-vid. They are very informative on how these horns work and why filtered DC is important.
@@achannelwithnopurpose1977I had no idea there was a Wheelock horn in the video. Could you point it out please? Also that was very helpful information. Thank you
Cool video I love it, It reminds me of my system with how they have the white back boxes on the 2904 strobes. anyway to have a filtered DC expander feed them ? like a 4009 with relay trip or even a BPS10A. I wish I still had a BPS10A I would give it for the cause.
