Normally I'd upload fire alarm stuff on my separate account (wileyvisionalarms), but I got a great idea today when they were testing the fire alarm system at the hospital I work at (which has a huge Simplex voice evac fire alarm system, but does not play a voice message, and has 4903 speaker/strobes and older LifeAlarm speakers on 2903 light plates), and figured it'd be wacky enough to share HERE!
Remember that scene in Joe Dante's "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" when Kate pulls the fire alarm in that super-modernized high-rise building, and instead of the standard bell, buzzer, beep or tone you hear the PA voice start talking about fire, only to jump into warning people to evacuate!? (It doesn't even mention to not use the elevators!) I took that voice message (sampled from the actual movie), wired up my Simplex TrueAlert speaker/strobe (to be technical, it's a multi-candela 4906-9151 speaker/strobe set to 15 candelas) to my stereo system connected to my MacBook, combined the message with the newer Simplex Slow Whoop alert tone (recorded from the former Simplex 4100U system at that middle school) and sounded it over the alarm! (I even flashed the strobe using NewAgeServerAlarm's NAC coder he made for me.)
I DEFINITELY can't imagine Simplex using this as a voice message option on their new 4100ES systems.
