Fire belly toads are called so because of their brightly colored bellies. These frogs secrete a toxin that makes them taste awful to predators, though they still may be taken by snakes. If they can avoid these snake boys, fire belly toads have long lifespans. These frogs are generally aquatic, but they'll travel far in search of a mate. They also have a unique way of catching food.
Scientific Name: Genus - Bombina
Range: Europe and parts of Asia
Size: average 2 inch (5cm) in length
Diet: worms, snails, insects, etc.
Lifespan: 10-20 years

Mother nature is fascinating with her flora and fauna... I also recall about the hairy frog, which breaks it own bones as a defense mechanism against predators, so they may grow claws at the tip of their toe pads.

I used to have three of these little fellows as pets. They were cool. They didn’t often call, but when they did, it was a surprisingly powerful, fluting, wavering sound that I really liked. They were fun pets, but I had to refresh their water more often than my fish tanks needed it, due to the toxin they produced building up in their water.

👍 Pretty cool that they live so long! We have tree frogs in our area- we hear them in the spring, but don’t see them too often😊😊

Sometimes we go out on rainy nights and look for frogs during the summer - if you ever want to see a bunch. 😉
