Pairing Olivia and Chrom up and having them battle together is theoretically faster, but Chrom's 'game over' vulnerability makes it too risky to throw him into battle with a deadweight partner at this point in the game. I finally ended up just shoving them both into a safe corner of the map so Chrom could stupidly fixate on her hips while the rest of his team won his war in his place. It was for his own good.
For the sake of galeforce for Lucina and rightful king on Inigo. I'd say those 9 turns of staring at Olivia's hips were worth it! If you're playing on Hard or Lunatic, you have to overgrind for Chrom and do random dlcs and hope they give out master seals early.
My "explanation" on why Chrom didn't give Robin the ring is that he's an idiot and forgot to. Besides, just look at their S support. He's so nervous he has to remember how to breathe. Forgetting a ring is easier than forgetting how to breathe. Their support is cute though, and I like how they can easily forgive each other. I feel sorry for Sumia though. She's a great girl, but she gets placed in the "love interest" role and that makes her look like a generic love interest instead of the clumsy yet determined, strong, caring woman that she is. Not only that, she's also kind of annoying if you marry Chrom, since it looks like she's trying to flirt with him even though he's taken. Don't get me wrong, I like Sumia and I like the Chrom x Sumia ship (it's just second to Chrom x Robin IMO). But I don't like how the game "forces" the support in the story. "You can choose who marries who, but you should ship Chrom and Sumia" sounds like the game allows other ships, but other ships are wrong. I also feel like most people who ship this usually do so because it's "canon" (it's not, it would only be canon if it always happens. Sumia is an option, but not necessarily Chrom's wife). I also understand that they want a good "default" since Chrom has to marry, but their interactions still feels a bit cliché at times. That, and I think they should've given some more screen time to other possible wives. Chrom doesn't even talk to Sully in the story.
Good to see a Chrom/Robin shipper who doesn't give them a bad name. There should be more people like you. I feel like it's dying down a bit, but in the early days of the fandom I saw so many people who called Sumia an evil whore just for daring to be "in the way" of Chrom/Robin and using every excuse to bash her character just to make their ship look better. It's sadly somthing that happens with ANY canon or "implied canon" love interest in any media, for some reason shippers feel that character needs to either die or be demonized in order for their own ship to sail. And then there were the REALLY crazy ones who acted like they were ACTUALLY married to Chrom irl and said they were "jealous" of Sumia. If you're jealous of a fictional character... you have problems. Sorry, rant over. I've seen the whole "forced" argument before. It doesn't bother me personally, because I tend to LIKE it when the game "pushes" a pairing on you. Then again, I'm not big on freedom of choice in games. I prefer to play through a tight, linear narrative already laid out by the developers than to have the freedom to do my own thing. I'm not a fan of open world games, for one. Because of this, I tend to be a very "canon over all" kind of person, and I tend not to like 90% of fanfiction. It's just how I am, but I understand that other people are different. "she's also kind of annoying if you marry Chrom, since it looks like she's trying to flirt with him even though he's taken." This kind of thing happens a lot with these kinds of love interests, and this is exactly WHY I tend to like shipping them. These moments aren't awkward when you're going for that ship. It's a lot like Yu/Rise in Persona 4. She flirts with him all the time in the main storyline, where no other romance option (except Marie in Golden) does. By doing the pairing, you're essentially giving the romance some extra scenes during the main plot, as a "bonus". And it just makes the story feel more natural to me. Again, this is just me with my love of pre-defined plots. Though about the whole "not canon" thing... Sumia is holding Chrom's baby in the opening movie. Her auto-marriage scene in Chapter 11 also has no label in the game's code, implying it's considered the "default" version of that scene. She may not be strictly canon, but she's the closest you can get. Oh, and if you think Sumia and Chrom's supports are awkward if Chrom is already taken, try doing Cordelia and Henry if Cordelia is married. It has Cordelia still pining over Chrom after he's married... yes, it's a major plot point of the support. That's.... VERY awkward if Cordelia herself is married. Inigo has this problem too. Really, a lot of supports get awkward if you do them when one or both characters are married. It almost feels like supports should have had separate married/non-married versions, but that would've been a LOT of work.
BigKlingy Sumia does get very annoying if you're married to Chrom though. I don't blame her, because it's unintentional, but still. She refers to him as "my love" in a voice clip in their B support, Flavia teases Chrom about her after she "slaps" him... That stuff gets annoying quickly. Just like Chrom saying "thanks friend" to me (or any other potential wife). And Sumia is the only one that gets annoying. All of the other potential wives either treat him like a friend, are more interested in his sister or don't appear in the story at all. Although to be fair, female Robin would probably be annoying to the other potential wives. And I know that Lucina is actually annoyed by Robin being so close to Chrom is Robin isn't her mother. I personally love the whole shipping thing and I'm not a fan of linear story lines in games. I don't hate them, but I'm playing the game. If I wanted a story I had no effect on, I'd watch a movie instead. And if you ship two characters together, it feels like you're the one that made them happy. With ships that are actually canon, you didn't have a choice so it isn't your ship. And yes, the shipping does add some weird drama to the game. I actually had Cordelia's C support with Henry after I married Chrom. And Inigo can get extremely awkward. If he married Lucina, she tells him that she'll kill him if he flirts with other girls. But if he then has this C support with Robin, who can be Lucina's mother... And the whole forced marriage thing can also ruin a lot. I've heard of people who were forced to marry Chrom even though they were going to marry some else. Chrom can also ruin other ships this way. He can even steal the wife Robin is trying to marry and then spend the rest of the game telling Robin how much he loves him and how they're best friends and such xD And I agree that it's nice to see cute interactions, but that's why I prefer Chrom x Robin over Chrom x Sumia. I don't remember anything cute happening between Chrom and Sumia after Chrom's wedding, but plenty of cute things happen between Chrom and Robin. Like when he says they're two halves of a greater whole. Which he doesn't say about Sumia. IMO, Sumia is the second best option story wise, and a great default option since Robin shouldn't be chosen in chapter 11 (because Robin is the player, and should have a choice) and isn't always female.
So for one, Sumia saying "my love" was only in the localization. In Japanese, she just said "Chrom-sama", which was also the voice clip that got interpreted as "Captain!" Basically, it could've been interpreted as either romantic OR a respectful "yes sir" thing. Japanese has a lot of ambiguity in the language that's lost in English, like Chrom's "thanks friend". This was "Kore ga... kizuna ka?", literally "Is this... the strength of our bond...?" I liked that better because it worked with his wife, his kids, AND friends. In English, you get Chrom friendzoning his wife. Also, Future Past 3... oh boy that once. That got a TON of Chrom/Robin attention because Posessed Robin says "The former owner of this body LOVED Chrom". The Japanese was WAY more ambiguous, all it said was "very important person". (While we're on the subject, Lucina's final battle quote "You have earned my trust and my LOVE" was just "I believe in you" in Japanese.) I actually feel like Sumia was only supposed to say "My love..." in the actual Chapter 11 marriage scene, I think that's the only one where she actually say it in text too. I think all the other cases of it showing up could have easily been mistakes. The whole "two sides of the same coin" thing... I just prefer to interpret that platonically, since none of those lines change if the Avatar is male, married to someone else, or if Chrom is married. (Except Chapter 21)
I think chromXavatar is the best Bc 1.morgan is a dork like chrom (and his support with kejillie is funny) 2.lucina has the seriousness like the avatar 3. Chrom and the avatar are the main characters in the game 4. Lucina and Morgan are best as siblings idk it works 5.owain and Morgan would be great cousins 6.the support they have. That's it 7. The other bachelorettes are the stereotypical type of characters and their supports aren't as special as chrom and the avatar's support But it's just my opinion
4. I prefer Lucina's other siblings. Mainly Cynthia and Inigo, both of them always made more sense to me as Lucina's siblings. 5. Owain and Cynthia are amazing as cousins. 6. I don't really like the "walking in on eachother naked" supports. If the female Avatar's supports with Chrom were the same as the male Avatar's, where they just talk about strategy, I'd probably like it more. 7. I like Sumia and Chrom's support in the Japanese version, the English version ruined it and turned it into pie jokes. Sully and Chrom's supports are pretty good too because they've known eachhother since childhood. And even though you don't actually get so SEE Chrom and Olivia's supports if you pair them, they're actually very good.
I'm inclined to believe there were more opportunities for meaningful and stronger formed bonds between Chrom and Robin besides the bath scene. It's a shame they didn't flesh out their relationship more.
Funnily enough the first time I played through the game, Chrom married the village girl. I was going to follow the RobinxChrom story line, but I decided that Lon'quxRobin was too adorable. Sully never got near Chrom, and I didn't use either Sumia or Maribelle, preferring to use Cordelia and Lissa. So imagine my surprise when the ship the game has been pushing so hard for so long just falls apart with no explanation, and Chrom marries a random nobody who gets two lines of dialogue to explain her presence.
//shrug// I don't personally stand by the fact that Chrom and Sumia would be canon. Not because of the Avatar mind you, I just don't believe that canon ships exist in this game because of the whole marriage system.
It's true, canon ships don't exist in this game. The story does imply Chrom/Sumia slightly more than his other options though, with them getting several scenes during the game hinting at it. My guess was that they were trying to use it to show players that the marriage system exists, seeing as there actually aren't much hints towards how important it is until Chapter 13 (by which point Chrom has to be married). The game also seems to be set up so that she will auto-marry Chrom unless you've been intentionally keeping them apart.
@@BigKlingy true but i believe there some pairing that really have sweet time together both in support or storyline. We know some support that alter the story in history of Fire Emblem series too. Like certain Lord and Dragon dancer
I mean, I understand wanting to prioritize the marriage system over a canon marriage, but the fact Sumia is with Chrom in the intro and also has this extended scene here kind of trumps that. (Was also gonna mention cutscene names but since those are localized I'm not going to even though I want to)
One interesting point regarding the optimal Avatar's child: the most compelling argument I've read for a 3rd gen child actually isn't in regards to their stats. Their stats are going to be high regardless, and while there is certainly min-maxing that can be done, it's pretty much gilding the lily. No, the reason you go with a 3rd gen child has less to do with the child him/herself, and more to do with the Avatar: by marrying the Avatar to a 2nd gen character, you are giving the 2nd gen one more S support pairing. And S supports are the best thing in the game, so having one more amongst the best units in the game is desirable. The other thing is that most of the children get everything that they need from their primary parent, and there are options to fill in the gaps without resorting to pairing the Avatar to a first gen character. Given that a given character can have only one class and five skills at a time, the whole "every class" gimmick isn't quite as important as it seems at first glance. With all that said, however, given how shadowofchaos proved that you can one-shot the strongest enemy in the game with a dancer, min-maxing is something done for its own sake, rather than out of necessity.
Betty RossThat last sentence needs to be immortalised. Seriously. Yeah, this all makes sense. I know that a Femal Avatar (with a Str asset) paired with Cherche's child with Vaike as the father results in the highest possible Strength cap modifier in the game. Funnily enough I'm not sure what the combination for the best Magic modifier is... I'm guessing it's Female Avatar x Ricken and Miriel's child. Notice how both of those involve a female Avatar. A lot of people say it's annoying that the Female Avatar's only way to have 2 children is with Chrom while the Male Avatar gets that from any 1st gen girl. But Female-exclusive skills are much better than male exclusive ones (excluding Agressor, but that's DLC only) and the female generally makes better 3rd gen children. I like how both genders of Avatar is pretty balanded this way.
How the hell did I get here from autoplay? Hahaha. Well I just had my headphones on while shredding documents. And I'm enjoying listening to it even if I already know 99% of this stuff haha.
Oh man I LOVE how thorough you are. You even got the part where even if his love interests get killed on Classic Mode... they still marry him haha. "HURR CANON" man I should watch your playthrough. Would get me back into things before Belinda and I restart my stupid playthrough.
Well, the game certainly isn't thorough, so someone had to make up for that... (Seriously, I feel like they should've given Frederick a line before Chapter 11 saying something like "With Emmeryn's death you'll be taking up the mantle of Exalt soon, so maybe you should consider finding a queen." At least HINT at this happening.) And lol at the Classic thing. Mostly put that there because a lot of people think that a: they can kill off someone who they don't want Chrom marrying or b: killing all Chrom's waifus is the easiest way to get the Generic Village Girl. Nope, neither work. If you want to get someone "out of the way" for Chrom, you HAVE to marry them off. On this note, remember in the early days of the fandom when SF thought Olivia had the highest auto-marriage priority, probably because some people accidentally got her and Chrom married after dancing a few times and were like HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?! And yeah lol I had a lot of fun with that. The number of people who refuse to accept that Sumia appearing in the opening movie with Chrom's baby means something though... And in some ways your playthrough... kind of vanishing was part of what inspired me to do this. I always enjoyed your Awakening videos. You're one of the few FE RU-vidrs I can bring myself to watch, because unlike a lot of other series veterans you don't spend your commentary constantly bitching and whining about the future of the series.
I remember that for my first playthrough of this game, I completely intended to run a no-ship ship and since I basically got away with only using Chrom and Robin for much of the early game I didn't unlock many supports. Cue Chrom marrying Sully out of the blue because he got a single c-rank support back in chapter one...
*WARNING, WALL OF TEXT AHEAD* I've been watching Awakening related stuff for a long time and I have a theory for what couples are canon: *they all are*. This may come as a surprise but here's a question for you "what if every play through of awakening is a different timeline in itself"? Lets look at Tharja and Gaius for a moment, lets imagine they died and you never recruited them, there you have a timeline where Chrom never spoke to them and they died because of that. You yourself mentioned that in some of Panne's confessions she doesn't know what the point of a wedding ring is, yet in her confession with Gaius she obviously does, this is because that is a different timeline where she did know what a wedding ring is. And do you remember the side missions with Anna? you mentioned that the dialog changes depending on which mission is done first, and there you have 2 different timelines where Victor and Vincent died in a different order, similar with the 3 village stooges, by this logic there are two timelines depending on whether you rescue them or not. In terms of the future children, it's possible to completely miss them, this makes various time lines of children either never being born or dying before you can recruit them. And while I'm at it maybe it's the same case of SPOILERS and MORE SPOILERS *(you know the 2 children I'm talking about)* being able to have different siblings, they have many canon siblings depending on the timeline. Also, you know the spotpass characters right? maybe there are timelines where they are alive and others where they stayed dead depending on your choices. And you know the choice you're asked to make at the last level of the game? By this logic there there are different timelines for both options, which also answered the question of which one was the right choice. Lastly, my proof. I'm sure you already know that there's a child which at the end of the game says that so people speculated they they came from *"a different future entirely"*. Also, there is a certain chain of DLC missions where you visit a sightly different future *(I'm sure at this point you know which one I'm talking about)*. IN CONCLUSION, this answers some major plot holes in the game and it's a best possible answer in term of canon shippings, it means that *all possible shipping are all canon in the timeline that the player created*, also if my theory is acknowledged it would finally bring an end the the Fire Emblem shipping war and the Fire Emblem waifu war. *And this concludes my theory*
Taking this further: In ANY given game, every different savefile created by every player is its own alternate universe. I've always liked this theory, it's referenced in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's Delta Episode. And some other games seen to be referencing things like this too.
I'm so glad I didn't know about the forced marriage on my first playthrough, otherwise I would have rushed Sumia's S support and absolutely hated that pairing. Since in my first playthrough I had the automatic marriage with Sumia it's been my favourite pairing. Not just for that extra scene, but because I also prefer the more obvious canonical pairings... even though I started that playthrough again for reasons and married Chrom to Maribelle instead, and even though in my Fem avatar run I married Chrom to her because I wanted her to be a certain character's mother for the story.
About that, it turns out that the canon wife for Chrom is actually the village maiden. So despite the game favoring Sumia, she's actually not the one canonically marries him.
That's only in the drama CD, which isn't canon. (Well, Lucina's bear hat did show up in Fates, but that's more like a reference. There's also at least two different universes within the drama CDs so it's kind of complicated) And even then it's not specifically stated that it's the village maiden there. Unless a future game outright confirms something, there's no definite canon for Chrom's marriage. By the way, the person on the forums (Shadowofchaos) who said the Drama CD made the village maiden canon was being sarcastic.
BigKlingy Don't be so quick to throw away the Drama CD, because it's not uncommon for things from other media to be taken as canon, (see Final Fantasy, Disgaea, and practically every Tales series ever). At this point in time the maiden is the only one that they've actively acknowledged so far. My personal belief is that there is no canon as far as Awakening is concerned, and I can't see them confirming any of the girls as Chrom's wife, not even FeMu (despite it being the most popular pairing) or Sumia (because Sumia isn't a particularly a popular character).
The reason Sumia isn't particularly popular is crazy shippers who find her "in the way" of other Chrom pairings... (that, and how much the localization horrendously ruined her character, especially her S Support with Chrom) which angers me, but then again, that happens in every single fandom. E.g. Ron and Ginny in Harry Potter are some of the nicest people in canon and the fandom is obsessed with making them evil due to shipping. And again, the drama CD doesn't explictly name the Maiden as Chrom's wife, it just keeps his wife's identity ambiguous so it can fit with any player's personal canon.
BigKlingy I was talking about her lack of popularity with the Japanese fans. Also I wouldn't blame the localization for how bad the support was, because the support in Japanese version wasn't better. Also people can dislike a character without shipping being a reason for it, blaming shipping as the sole reason for why a character is disliked makes you no better than the shippers. On a whole people do expect more out of any character that is going to be paired up with the MC, especially when their pushed into that position, and woe be to the character that doesn't deliver. That's partially what happened with Sumia and also to Ginny. It's worse when you don't particularly care for the pairing or the character and yet because the creator wants to push the character they make them stand out and not in a meaningful way. For comparison compare it to Hinata from Naruto. More people I think would have hated it if not for the series going out of it's way to justify and also Hinata to meet the expectations that one would have for the character being paired up with the MC. On the Drama CD, I think that if they truly wanted it to be one of the marriage candidates they would have said it.
Obviously Mary Sue is a dark mage because she wants to curse Sumia for stealing her guy. :) Also, I adore Sumia's "my love" voice clip because it sounds so nice, but she also says it during her and Chrom's B support and that can feel a bit awkward if she's already married to someone else by that point (which she was in my game).
Acually, Mary Sue is a Dark Mage because she's a "Goff", but your reason works too. Yeah, the one in the B Support feels really awkward if she's married to someone else. That voice clip wasn't as explicitly romantic in the Japanese version, so that's more localization-added weirdness. That's the double edged sword with this game's supports system: the ones that keep the C-A platonic have the S Support coming off as jarring, while the ones that have hints of romance in C-A get REALLY awkward if the character is already married. Cordelia is pretty bad about this too (especially if you get her supports with Henry after she's married already, ugh) as are Virion and Gregor due to them tending to flirt with most women in supports.
I forgot about the hug and how worried Sumia is for Chrom But as for all these scenes in general, I think I remember preferring them over Chrom's actual S-Supports
All of these are miles better than Chrom's actual S Supports, I have no idea why they didn't just use these. Maybe the supports and the main story had different writing teams? That seems to be true for a lot of these kind of games.
Ahh good times. After the ending of this playthrough I come back to the video that brought me to this channel from the recommendations. Can't wait for the future past. Also for Chrom being crippled. I just paired him with The Vaike or Lissa.
Assuming I did this correctly, I can now confirm that Sully is higher on the marriage priority list than Maribelle. In my latest file, right before chapter 11, I had Chrom's B supports with both Sully and Maribelle unlocked, but not viewed. (As a side note, Sumia and female Avatar both had a C support ranking with Chrom, but had not unlocked the B supports with him.) At the end of the chapter, Chrom married Sully.
Whenever I start a new playthrough, the first thing I think of is who I pair Chrom with since he's the only unit who's forced to marry. My personal favourites are Sully and Maribelle. I hardly ever use a female avatar and I don't really like their supports that much. I know Sumia is canon but I prefer other pairings for her like Gaius and Frederick. As for Olivia, it's a pain for her to marry Chrom but it is definitely worth it.
Proving if Maribelle or Sully is first isn't THAT hard to do actually 1. Unlock but don't look at both their C/B/A supports with Chrom, whichever one lets them beat out Sumia and FeMU 2. Wait until Chapter 13 to do both the supports and 'officially' get them to the same support rank 3. Clear the chapter without letting Chrom gain support with either woman, it's best to just not dispatch them to the Gangrel battle at all 4. Wait and see if Chrom proposes to Sully or Maribelle My money's on Sully since she comes first on the character roster
I did Ch 11 on another playthrough with Chrom NOT have a c support with Sumia. I unlocked it but I didn't view it. I had plan to married them to other people. Sumia to Gaius which was at an A and Chrom to the Maidan. Yes I'm doing that I intend to since the start. Chrom other bachelorettes were all ready married at this point except for the last one. I kept them far apart and complete the chapter. Guess what happen I saw Sumia auto confession with Chrom. Which gave so much anger that I had get Sumia & Gaius S support in skirmishes and redo Ch 11 again.
Same thing happened in my playthrough. Chrom had a shot with Sully, but at the last minute I shipped her with Donel. The results were a 2nd Gen Character capable of teaming up with both parents and beating the end game with just them.
My avatar got auto married to Chrom. Good thing I was playing on normal casual (I’m still pretty young, and I was even younger when I first played this game) and it allowed me to breeze past the entire game, as if normal wasn’t easy enough.
Doubtful, my best guess is since the avatar is the first unit chrom’s able to marry, people accidentally got their C support before any supports with Sumia or sully, even with the low support growth the avatar has with chrom. Then the pair up feature gets introduce, and people think “huh C rank? guess I’ll keep pairing them up”. I say people as if I wasn’t one of these people when I first played the game...
I've also noticed that a lot of newer players get Sumia killed in her join chapter because Awakening's tutorials don't do a good job of explaining how dangerous bows are to fliers.
I do believe I got her killed on her join chapter. To be fair I was playing normal casual and was really just having all my units charge and hoping for the best, most getting killed other then chrom and Mary Sue.
Getting Chrom supports with the Avatar is very easy since they join so early, but I'm pretty sure he unlocks a C with Sumia right from the start and if you make any effort to keep the two close to eachother they reach S insanely fast. (I usually get it before Chapter 6) But I think the actual easiest Chrom pairing to do is Sully. She joins ealier than Sumia and has the second-fastest support growth with Chrom, while the Avatar has the slowest. (But that's because the Avatar has 'slow' support growth with EVERYONE, to balance out them being able to support any character. Fates is different, the Avatar has fast supports with Azura and their siblings, as well as I think a few other people like Kaze, Felicia, Jakob and Silas) Unfortunately, Sully is the worst non-Maiden support for Chrom gameplay-wise, as she's the only one who doesn't give Galeforce.
+BigKlingy which is sad cause Sully is one of the females i literally marry to my male MU or just mentally headcannon her, sumia and tharja with lissa being the closet of friends... for said MU
+BigKlingy its cause of this weird fanfic head cannon plot i once had, if robin is from plegia isnt it possible they may have run into or met some of the plegian characters, henry tharja nowi(whos in the area) gregor(same as nowi) at some point or another and just not remember and then just head cannons on male/female mus mother being all bada$$ since they did keep robin away from evil dad
Yeah, the whole question of exactly who Robin's mother was in definately interesting. And if they did meet Henry or Tharja, they forgot them due to their amnesia.
The chance of Chrom Dual Guarding Olivia with no supports is extemely low at that point in that game, so it's not really practical. By the time you'd got a dual guard, you've plobably fought with them paired 3 times anyway, which is already enough points.
i came here for some advice as to how i could be able to marry chrom to olivia because, well, he said he would show it later, and i heard what i needed to do-pair olivia up with chrom and have chrom win 3 battles within chapter 11. i already knew about the "early marriage" thing, but thanks for the helpful advice.
Basically, what you need to do is make sure Chrom DOES NOT HAVE ANY C SUPPORTS with any of his other candidates (If Chrom does have a C or higher with one of the girls, you can eliminate them as a candidate by marrying them off to another man), and that you pair him up with Olivia and have them fight 3 times during Chapter 11.
Robin is last probably because she can marry anyone and could you imagine that you was trying to marry....uhhhh Vaike, but accidentally marry Chrom. That would suck. Especially if you’re farming supports.
Prime example of auto-marriage screwed was Etika's play through, it was so funny how everyone in the comments alluded to it but allowed it to happen anyways for comedy sake lol I think Chrom refuses to give the royal ring to the female avatar due to her backstory, however that's just my own guess and it's hard to elaborate on this yet due to spoilers for others. Have you been able to determine why Chrom can only marry those particular women and not others?
SpaceMooseI read some of the comments there and got an idea of how it can screw over first time players. It also happened in Tom Fawkes' run, though he was happy to get Sully. All of these women have some kind of reason for being able to marry Chrom: Female Avatar: Has to be able to marry anyone. Sully: Has known Chrom since childhood. Sumia: Implied to have also known Chrom for a while, gets many romantic scenes in the early chapters. Maribelle: Is nobility and best friends with Lissa. Olivia: .............Um.........they needed a late option in case everyone else was taken? Now, regarding the remaining females, they all have some kind of reason why they aren't an option for him. Miriel: Has no implied connection to Chrom. She could have easily been an option if they wanted though. Panne & Nowi: Making Chrom's children half Taguel/Manakete would change things pretty drastically, they probably couldn't do these without re-writing certain scenes with them or supports, and the Avatar required enough re-writes as-is. Cordelia: She's a direct reference to Catria, who had unrequited feelings for Marth. So her love has to remain unrequited. (That, and there was that early art of Cordelia with blue hair, suggesting she may have been related to Chrom at one point in development) Tharja: This.... really wouldn't work. Too obsessed with the Avatar, and I really don't see Chrom going for someone like her. Anna: Gen 1.5 character, can't marry anyone but the Avatar. The really weird one is Sumia's restricted options though. Frederick makes sense, but why Gaius and [Haven't met yet]? ESPECIALLY [Haven't met yet].
Wow, was really not expecting that detailed of a reply, thank you very much for taking the time to explain that! I was really disappointed to see that neither Cordelia or any of the shape-shifters could marry him (would have loved to see him marry "the voice of Naga") but it makes complete sense with how you explained everything. It was definitely worth marathoning your series just to ask about that, I look forward to watching the rest of your play-through as its posted! :)
Again, Coredila is a reference to an old FE character archetype, which people who haven't played those games often don't get. This game has a ton of references to earlier games due to being created for the series 15th (I think) anniversary, and also due to it almost being the last game.
Wait.. so I just checked the wiki. I have been playing Casual so far and only braved Lunatic - Classic about 3 weeks ago. But yeah it does show that Female Characters that have a kid tied to them only have retreat quotes on Classic. Chrom's kid is basically immune to death and has a retreat quote too. While the rest of the kids die.
Yep, 1st gen females can't "die" in this game, even on Classic. Same for 1st gen males in Fates. Lucina probably "retreats" because she needs to appear in cutscenes. (Much like Frederick)
@@BigKlingy I never knew that in Fates? I only played birthright. I was thinking it was the male who are not immune to death since they have kids tied to them. Question is, will the kids still get to view the C rank convo with a retreated / dead parent?
No they won't, the character is still removed from your party for all intents and purposes, the only way it differs from them being dead is the credits.
The thing with Chrom with his proposal when he states his parents told him to give his crafted ring to the person he would marry makes no sense. Exception of the mary sue...but here's my thing. Okay, Chrom's dad died when Emmeryn was 10 and Emmeryn is said to be six years older than Chrom. So Chrom was only four year's old and Lissa was probably a newborn by that time. Sooo... there's no way Chrom's parents could if told him about the ring. Unless Chrom has been lying to his potential lovers this entire time. Also, Chrom never specifies when or who tells him this. He just gives a blunt "they told me to give/wanted bla bla bla..." kind of reason for why Chrom's giving away his ring. We also have no information on Chrom's mother at all and I guess it's implied that she's dead like Chrom's father. Death by child birth I assume? Robin's mother has the same problem. I'm probably over analyzing this, but there's a lot of things that make no sense in Awakening. Chrom and his bad leadership skills*cough* being praised for his self righteousness.*cough* Leaving Plegia behind for two years.*cough cough* Jeez...I neeed some water.
Thanks for this video, just hit this in the game and was looking for a way around it since it kind of messes with what I had planned. I just have to say, fuck this forced marriage. XD Now I'm going to have to restart and that's a pain since I've had some really lucky finds.
I found a digital download of Awakening's entire OST a long time ago. Unfortunately I can't remember where I got it. These days, I just get music by looking it up on RU-vid and using a RU-vid to MP3 converter.
If you want to marry Olivia, I suggest your pair Chrom with Lissa or Frederick, since they can only get A supports. Also with Male My Unit too I suppose.
best ship, Henry X Olivia Henry seems to be one of the best things for Olivia Inigo inherits his fathers smile, it looks the most natural on Inigo's hair color.
I used to like this... but I feel the English version really ruined their supports. (And weirdly, his Future Past DLC conversation with Inigo is still translated directly, even though it doesn't fit with their localizaed supports)
Olivia's supports with him are nice... it's just that you can't see them if you marry them. I have no idea why they even made her an option. Sully's supports are kind of nice, but she's probably the worst pairing for him gameplay-wise, ignoring the Maiden. Maribelle is generally only done for magic-based Lucina builds. (Apparently Maribelle!Lucina as a Sage can beat Apotheosis on a no-grind run)
@@BigKlingy it's weird they made the girl you get on the last mission that Chrom remains unmarried be able to marry Chrom, but not any other girl before like Cordelia, or Thajar (probably not spelt right) or Panne. Hell, Lissa would have been better than Olivia.
@@BigKlingy I don’t think sully is that bad for lucina unless you plan to tackle the post game. For the main game, sully will be just fine as lucina’s mom though the fact she is the only mom with out galeforce(aside guess who) definitely hurts. I’d say maribelle is a worse mother as neither Brady nor lucina benefit from the other parents. Lucina’s internal magic and RES are bad to the point that you shouldn’t even bother and the same is true for Brady and strength related attacks. At least kjeele benefits strongly from aether.
Which proposal did you get? You only get the Confession if you do the S Support. If the Avatar auto-marries Chrom in Chapter 11, you'll miss out on a Confession for that playthrough. Another reason why it's recommended to get Chrom to an S Support BEFORE the forced marriage point.
Yeah, you don't get the confession in that case. Best to get the S Support before Chapter 11. Then again, most people agree their Chapter 11 conversation is better than their ACTUAL S Support.
I'll try to find a screenshot when it's time. Basically, in one of the later scenes that changes based on Chrom's wife, the Maribelle version (and ONLY that version) has SUMIA show up in the background for a brief moment. Cue jokes about her being a Yandere.
If the avatar married Chrom/Lucina, Morgan won't be Lord, but what about Olivia, it's a class exclusive to her I think, so will Dancer pass to Morgan or will he default to tactician?
Dancer can't be inherited. This is because if you had two Dancers, they could dance for each other and level up endlessly. Heroes was the first game to allow multiple dancers, by making it so dancers can't dance (or sing) for other dancers.
@@BigKlingy I did it terribly and hid Chrom behind male Robin for the whole game (he kept dieing) and never used any of the females that he could marry (It was casual, so it didn't go as bad as it could have). I didn't have anyone married except for Robin and Tharja.
Chrom/Olivia probably takes the most effort I guess? It's actually pretty easy once you know what to do, but it DOES require actively keeping the other girls away from him until Chapter 11, which makes the game a lot harder with how broken Pair Up is. But Olivia!Lucina is worth it.
I actually did that pairing on one of runs through the game. One thing I remember from that is how Inigo constantly saying his quotes due to Chorm's one skill he give him. I just hate it when game just hands thing to you with no effort behind it. I like to feel reward for my effort with the Chorm/Sumia paring I just don't feel that way. it like you can get to S support just in five maps but your free do whatever you want. Sorry to take your time I love your videos and how they improved over the years.
Anyone can get to an S with Chrom quickly. Sully is probably the fastest, but Sumia and Female Robin can both get to an S with him by Chapter 5 easily. So Olivia is probably the hardest "by default".
You can either overgrind Chrom to the point of trivializing the map and having Olivia paired up to him and engage in 3 battles. Or put those two in the corner and let her dance for 9 turns, alternitavely if you have Seed of trust, you can use it then the dance lessens. If you're planning it on Lunatic. Make sure you do overgrind your units or unless you want a challenge, then don't. Its actually a win - win situation for both kids. Inigo gets a high skill and Rightful King plus acces to Cavalier and Luna while Lucina gets Galeforce and access to Myrmidon class trees. I also did the Olivia x Chrom pairing on my Hard- Casual file (I was trying to fill up all the female romantic supports via this file and battle saves), I got an awesome Inigo, but I had to wait after all I did the spot pass paralogues to marry Chrom!Inigo. 😂
@@kryztyn127 I do this pairing all the time when I play lunatic mode. I pair Chrom up Fredrick at the start and have snowball the first arc. When she joins when I usually have her dance grind to she Lv 30 which take at least 200 turns the second seal her to Assassin for speed pair up for endgame.
She is, but if someone else has a higher support with him, they take priority. In general, if you don't specifically go for someone in particular, it'll probably end up being Sumia.
So mary sue is SOO mary sue that she destroyed the cannon love intrest.... Also wars in fire emblem tend to break out in two year cycles. I do NOT want to live in that kind of world... if I'm not donnal.
TheBraveGalladeCome to think of it, FE12 was 2 years after Shadow Dragon, and I think Radiant Dawn was 3 years years after Path of Radiance. (I remember Ike is supposed to be 17 in PoR and 21 in RD, and at least one year passes during PoR) The Elibe (FE6 and 7 on GBA) universe was the luckiest, FE6 is 20 years after FE7 (though a whole load of characters died offscreen in the meantime, sadly)
Blame the localization. Pies were never mentioned in the Japanese S Support. The English version decided to turn the entire marriage proposal into a giant joke about pies for some stupid reason.
@@BigKlingy what was the S support in Japanese about? Y'know how localisations can censor stuff from Japan that really makes no sense *cough cough* Yu-Ghi-Oh *cough cough*
I wasn't so much "censorship" as the localization decided to add jokes where there weren't any before. Chrom and Sumia's S in Japanese is basically the same thing, just without the pie jokes. The end is far more generic ("I promise to always love you blah blah blah", but there's no mention of them falling in love because of pies.
So ah yeah, like sumia, but don't like her supports with chrom Because it feels forced and at the end its her going "I'M going to be a princess...? ME?" she semi does this in male Robin's support too.. Like d00d So my non chrom marriage playthroughs I give him to maribell or olivia xD (watches vid) well that fixes it huh... Eh still not a fan of this ship Not a fan of notice me senpai ship xD
