We’re going to examine 3 doomsday scenarios: Mystery of the Emblem/New Mystery’s bad ending, Grima’s first assault on Old Archanea and the Schism, and the Scouring and the Ending Winter.
This video will serve as mostly an exploration and some good ol' theory crafting of these historical events in the series. So very dedicated FE fans may be 100% knowledgeable on the topic already, but still, maybe you’ll learn something new!
This video contains spoilers for the following games: Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: New Mystery of the Emblem, Fire Emblem: Binding Blade, Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword, Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

The thought that humans and dragons were concentrating and slinging such powerful magic around during the Scouring that _the world itself_ was thrown so far out of whack and into choas so much that it permanently scarred and greatly diminished the world's magic is a really cool take for FE lore.

Just seeing that giant dragon of doom floating on your maps is kinda chilling. I mean, just how freaking large is Grima at this point? And if you kill him with Chrom, he'll appear a thousand year later.. even larger and more powerful. As harsh as it is, sacrificing Robin would be the only sane option to stop Grima permanently (Or himself if Robin really IS Grima) before Grima becomes untouchable. Considering a twice goddess blessed Sword, specifically meant for destroying Dragons cannot kill Grima. And i doubt he'll grow weaker to it over time.

I'm surprised the he didn't go over Lucina's original world as humanity was basically on the edge of extinction, all countries fell with Ylisse being the last to fall, Tiki dead and Naga Dying. Tbh, if Grima didn't follow Lucina, that world would've been 100% Doomed as Naga actually died to send the children back in time. We know humans are still alive on that timeline currently thanks to the Inigo, Severa and Owain's wish to put flowers and vegetation back into their original world with the power of the sane Anankos but still, it's not like Grima's blight went away. There's no doubt still poison and cursed areas all over the world. Plus, it's not clear if the Risen died when Grima went away or died as thanks to Shadow's of Valentina, we know that the Thanatobeetles were originally responsible for the first versions of the Risen and also predate Grima so it might've just turned into a Zombie Apocalypse instead of a Galactus-Level Doomsday Event There's Fire Emblem Fates ancient land of Valla which literally got shattered by Anankos. Also the Fire Emblem Fates: Heir's of Fate where Anankos won, enslaved the souls of everyone, destroyed the world and then shattered the boundaries between worlds to help and summon all the other Anankos on the multiverse is fucking terrifying.

Update: Just finished replaying Fire Emblem Awakening: Future Past DLC and yes, the Risen can and do operate without Grima as they're still around in the epilogue in the Best Timeline for that world so our children's original future timeline world 100% turned into a severe Zombie Apocalypse after Grima escaped to the Past-Present in the current timeline and with only a couple thousand humans probably left and most of the world being blightlands it's not looking too good for them. The upside is that they don't have to worry about Grima in their destroyed timeline as he no longer exists in it and after sometime some if not all of the Blightlands would've been restored thanks to Anankos but still, I haven't seen a more grim reality than that timeline
@GeorgeKinsill

@@Ethan_Wheeler , that DLC in my opinion was better than the main game. Short, concise, and also left Grima still standing pretty strong even after inter-dimensional forces at the behest of a dead god came to offer some last minute aid. Looking at how intelligent and tactical Grima can be that sounds like something he would do to outmanoeuvre and ambush the late Era of Heroes. Gods I kinda want a spinoff game where we see the rise of Grima and actually witness their terrifying presence and force since Grima isn't just ungodly strong but also patient and cunning which makes them something akin to a beta Eldritch Deity. Just imagine the first few cutscenes showing this undead army rising from the ocean, an armada of ships carrying them and laying waste to the world, all while there is this gigantic looming figure out at sea watching all of it unfold. Sure we still get a happy ending but it will be bittersweet since Grima had ravaged the world and brought the age of heroes to an end with all the kingdoms and countries completely levelled.

@@hibikikuze1876 , that would be a great game. And for a boss the size of Grima, IS could probably modify and advance the type of fight they had against Anonkos in FE: Revelations, where the party has to fight multiple parts of the body in order to finally unveil the core, with bits that fall off during the fight turning into powerful Risen.

Here's my theory about what happened with Grima and the first exalt, just for fun: After discovering Camus new and happy life in Valentia, Nyna returned to Archaneia and found the labyrinth and Grima. It manipulated her and seemed like a good, benevolent dragon, leading to her forming the first Grimleal. Years later, Nyna found out about the truth of Grima, it was too late. She was only able to write it in a diary before passing away. Now that Grima had a following cult, it used it to manipulate a war between Archaneia and Valentia (both not in their best shape), so no one could stop it in its path of destruction. During their first confrontation, both the exalt and the king of Valentia faced off, but the clash of their Falchions ended in the destruction of both. In the afthermath, the exalt found the labyrinth and, inside of it, Nyna's diary. With this information he revealed the truth to Valentia and formed and alliance, and also a friendship with the king and his sister. They went out to find the jewels, form the Fire Emblem and make a pact with Naga. Meanwhile, Grima did the same with a loyal follower. Eventually, the exalt made the pact but nothing happened. But Grima was approaching, so he and his friends fought it. Sadly, the king died defending his friend and sister. This act unlocked the Awakening and created a new Falchion from the remanents of the other two. The exalt and the king's sister joined as a unit (the first pair-up ever) and together sealed Grima. While Grima was defeated, not everything was alright: his follower (Validar and Robin's ancestor) escaped, Archaneia was divided in three countries (eventuals Ylisse, Plegia and Ferox), and Valentia lost its king and was compleatly fragmented (the 1000 years lineage mentioned in Alm and Celica's ending). The exalt married the king's sister and both decided that it was best to not reunify both continents, since it was better for the habitants of those regions to decide for themselves. And as for Valentia, it was renamed Valm and the old king's advisor took charge of a now small kingdom.

My best guess with the location of Grimas skull would be: The first Exalt fought Grima where future Plegia would be. But as he already levelled Archaneia the Exalt went back to a Land that hasn't been annihilated yet, founding Ylisse. Plegia isn't a very hospitable land, so founding a country there wouldn't be the smartest choice if you have perfectly good soil a bit further away. The Plegians probably founded Plegia around their dead gods skull in order to be as close as possible to him, taking in account the uninhabitality of the land.

Persona fans will like this game but the lack of ability to choose your waifu and lack of deeper character interaction other than the flacid nice guy act (Itsuki friend zoned everyone obliviously even though every main female party member proclaimed their undying love at the end of every support chain).

So by that logic we could see the battle keep going as like in eliwoods and Roy's games the dragons didn't defeat humanity immediately as we can make more kids than them and dragons have less kids and lower birth rates so while they were more powerful in general it was a bigger lose to lose a dragon than a human so the war was in humanity favor.

It would be interesting to see a video detailing exactly how it went down, or as good as an idea of it as we can get, given what we do know. I mean really. All we know is that the events in the games timeline are sped up compred to the future, and "more than ten years in the future, Grima is revived, the shepherds tried to stop this, but failed and many died, leaving the world with none to defend it except for the kids, who did surprisingly well considering they are literal kids for the most part by the time they join the game timelines shepherds." I just think it would be interesting to try and construct a clearer timeline of events leading up to the fall of Chrom and resurrection of Grima.

Game explains it quite well itself. Chrom had Lucina in those 2 years of peace(see drama CD for more information) and left to defeat walhart so everything aside the future kids plays exactly the same aside chrom being weaker as the assasin injured him and then grima took over robin ending chrom there and then. Basillio also died to walhart too in the original timeline so he can't help in the shadows. Parent wise they had enough time to have kids in those two years and go off to ear and or return defeated or die trying. Nowi left nah with friends and Gerome was lucky to get Minerva back as cherche died in battle. Lissa is also the exalt as Lucina says how kind she is and wise in the future so a lot of the kids Actually got to see thier parents before they died. Niore saw tharja do experiments and give her the talisman to protect her and so on. Basically genealogy rules where the women survive and a few men while the rest die is how the kids saw thier parents as they had enough years to know them or train with them aside Lucina as chrom died when she was a baby and Morgan was taken by robin to be his vanguard unit which is why she has two books that are the same as future past robin gave her one and our Morgan is that broken hearted Morgan who lost her memory coming back in time only remembering the good days as she was forced to kill her friends and family following her father as grima. No need for an “Outrealm” gate. ^ The evidence is surprisingly solid, and if true, means that the Ending Winter _might’ve_ had some part in affecting the change in Archanea’s geography before it was renamed Ylisse. Just to give some scale to The Ending Winter, if anyone is interested (some spoilers for FE3H lore)… at 13:33 the map shows an area named Nabata, which is a similar shape to Fodlan. That land mass is also near Caledonia, which is referenced in FE3H. Assuming that Nabata is an ancient version of Fodlan, the continent shown on the map is many times the size of Fodlan. The magic wielded by and against dragons that can fit inside a moderately sized castle caused a magical imbalance that affected a world many times larger than just that continent. Further, the ancient civilization in Fodlan were called the Nabateans, lending credence to the idea that Nabata is in fact Fodlan.

We know the Fire Emblem was broken up, and the gemstones were divided up between the countries that formed after the Schism and the fight with Grima happened 1000 years before Awakening, meaning the seal on the Dragon Table should have broken, releasing the degenerated dragons upon the world yet it didn't happen.

Huh, my take on the geological differences between FE1 and FE3 was differences in cartography. In the age these games refer to, map making wasn't always perfect, and the differences in maps may be reflective of differing opinions among early cartographers.

I honestly thought that this was a video of real-world comparisons to Fire Emblem. I was very concerned.

On the topic of Grima, can we talk about the weird human face underneath his dragon face that shows up after he takes damage in the final battle? It's so weird and I wanna know people's thoughts on it.

My thoughts? Creepy. Maybe it's the face of Grima's creator.

Considering how it eats human lifeforce and blood to evolve and grow stronger, it is possible that it is human to a very small degree.

@@lpfan4491 Oh yeah. Grima *is* part human. So maybe that's his face.

So this has nothing to do with the video but me realizing Chrom is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (va of Gintoki, Kyon, Escanor and many others) in TMS is probably the biggest discovery I've made here.

I'm not really seeing the New Mystery Bad Ending TMS connection. Like obviously TMS is based off of Archanean lore. That's not a revelation. You'd need something like a reference to Kris or the lost Binding Shield for it to connect to the New Mystery Bad Ending. There's also a bunch of Awakening characters in the game that make absolutely no sense in this theory without copious amounts of fan fiction justifying their existence.
