Risen Chrom is literally the Evil Chrom meme and I dig it. Because Good Chrom be like: "We will not give up, we'll change the course of fate. And I can protect everyone." And Evil Chrom is like: "THIS is your fate, resistance is futile and you can't change your fate! And I can't protect a single thing."
I love how Fallen Chrom just is so SAD. Most other fallen heroes just have the person be possessed, or give in to bloodlust/madness; but Chrom just goes on and on about his regrets and failures. He lost his sisters, his best friend, his country and home, his Shepards, and now he can only lament his foolish optimism. His home screen dialogue where he says something along the lines of: “Robin… never again… shall I feel the joy of hearing your voice.” makes me want to cry.
It’s been a hot minute, but I forgot that fallen units can call out towards their friends and family. So it was heartbreaking hearing Chrom’s “Emmeryn… Lissa… Robin.” So glad we finally have Risen King Chrom!!
Me and my fucked up brain legit didn’t process Maria’s Voicelines and just thought she was an influencer telling her morning routine “I… Rise, move… Slay 💅” I need to go to bed Other thoughts: what a nice touch that Chrom still has that bolt of lightning lodged into his stomach area Oh God he still has Falchion’s Scabbard on his back, that’s sad 😞 Byleth art pretty, Anankos and Linus make me feel things, both good and bad :/
@@phloxechoes I looked at the wiki during the time, because I wasn't going to play the game to find out his VA. It actually didn't list him as his VA for the evil side at the time. lol However, it would make sense to recast Travis Willingham, he only voiced characters pre-launch, than he left the Fire Emblem franchise with his wife, Laura Bailey, which led to their characters being recast.
@@petertilton7004 Pretty sure Cipher (where Risen Chrom comes from) wasn't around yet by the time of TMS. The Conqueror class is because of both how we know Chrom's father was, and also because of the clear parallels paired with oppositions drawn between Chrom and Walhart in Awakening.
@@notfabio9858 I won't give too much details to avoid spoiling you, but in Three Hopes timelines, Sothis awakens much later, and instantly gives Byleth green hair while still staying around somehow. However, she awakened abruptly, right when Byleth was about to die, so she becomes much more ruthless, especially if you kill a certain character.
No it actually makes sense. Three Hopes is an alternate timeline and events play out differently. From here in it will be spoilers, but- Sothis basically wakes up later in the game because she never had to save Byleth from Kostas’s axe since Shez ended up having to kill Kostas and saves the Three House lords. Sothis doesn’t wake up until Byleth fights Shes, and Sothis senses Arval who she knows is related to TWSITD in some way so she possesses Byleth to try to kill Shez and Arval since Arval is in Shez. Sothis isn’t evil, she just doesn’t have the same connection she had with Byleth in Three Houses, and knows how much of a threat twsitd are, and it doesn’t help that the first thing she wakes up to is the energy of the same people who tried destroying everything she wanted to protect
So... Byleth's artist was the return of the designer for Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Nice welcome back to Hidari. Apparently, Anankos' original Japanese voice was also Gunter, who passed away back in 2014, which was WAY before the release of Fates, let alone being announced. And his new Japanese voice also happens to be Kamui / Corrin and Kana (Male). And Imari Williams is credited in full this time, instead of just his first name. Maria... what has the Shadow Dragon army done to you? This is apparently Chrom during the VERY BEGINNING with that alternate timeline BEFORE probably starting with him, Robin, Frederick, and Lissa. Weird way for the 10th anniversary for the International release of Awakening but... okay.

Hilarious that Sothis says Byleth's body is holding her back when the main reason Shez defeats them is because Byleth isn't piloting and Sothis is a shitty fighter who relies too much on her time powers.
It's more implied that the battle is pushing Byleth's body to its very limits and it doesn't respond how Sothis wants. So yeah, Sothis is used to being much more powerful than what we see in Hopes
So this is how it ends. As someone with a Bylad bias I'm slightly ticked about Possessed Bylass but at the same time literally everything from Sothis's voice acting & Hidari's godly art is just phenomenal. Really like Maria here, not much to be said. Anakos's art is really good and man his voice has such a savage raspyness towards it, I get remind of the Feral M!Corrin growls. Risen Chromium makes Cipher still live on to this day, art & voice is really good. I personally don't have many attachments to Chrom if I'll be honest but even so I can feel the despair and heartbreak one can feel when seeing him like this. Really going to show what a broken future looks like, a broken world made by a man-made god/abomination.
Male Byleth got an alt on the Khadein banner, and Bylass was used for the Hopes promotion, so I think it's an more than fair. It's really a Sothis alt, anyways. Kinda bummed because I think that what Hopes did with Sothis was super lame, lmao.
Honestly in both English and Japanese both anankos and sothis were the stars voice wise for me . Wendee lee is a great runner up though . it’s just that the others’ lines just allowed them to go more “out there” in comparison to her lines ( side effect of being a healer I guess )
2:08-2:10 Dragon Taiga *REALLY* out for blood here *aiyaiyai!* Also took me a while to realize Byleth's drawn by Hidari. Neat! Really should get Three Hopes eventually... 4:04-4:08 Even as a Fallen unit Maria still mentions her older siblings in her skill quotes. Imari Williams *REALLY* went hard on a lot of Anankos' lines. Especially like stuff at 7:09-7:14! Also didn't know JP Anankos was voiced by Male Corrin's VA. Makes sense. I love how Fallen Chrom's default stance is his OG Awakening art but tainted by Fell power. And he's also drawn by Fallen Ike's artist, neat touch give this artist both of the Cipher inspired Fallen units. Also the voice filter for both Matthew & Tomokazu is extremely menacing and I love it!
Matt Mercer's Chrom is impecable as usual, but Sugita's delivery simply takes the cake in this banner. Mercer makes Chrom sound like he's possesed, like some sort of zombie, despite his lines being full of regret, whereas Tomokazu Sugita makes it sound like Chrom's actually in physical pain, like he's actually suffering both physically and mentally.
That Maria art is some of the hardest shit in the game. Also congrats to Wendee Lee for finally doing a different voice aside from "Lyn but small" for Maria. Before, Maria and Lyn were nearly indistinguishable from each other. And don't even get me started on Veronica.
For this batch the definite stars (imo) are: F!Bylass & Anankos (Eng dub) Runner-up: F!Chrom (Jp dub) ...Meanwhile there's F!Maria, who I ended up not taking seriously in the end due to finding some of her lines on the hilarious end (tho her Jp dub was solid yet nothing special)..MEKHELISS..MEnerrVAAAH~😂 I'm not saying Wende's performance was bad. She just accidentally pulled a camp move which kinda stumbled the intended impression
Would it be surprising if Chrom was Ganondorf's most trusted warrior (puppet)? They both share Matthew Mercer as their VA, so it wouldn't be far-fetched. Also, that lightning bolt scar on his body. Screw you, Grima. Sothis took a few notes from Yubel's playbook regarding meat shields and vengeance. And yes, Cassandra Lee Morris used to be Yubel's VA. Maria... how many did you slaughter to become FEH's Queen of the Meta? Anankos having Male Corrin's Japanese VA only further solidifies their familial ties, and their feral power.

@@paperluigi6132 It should be noted that dragon Anankos had different VAs than his human form for both JP and EN - Rokuro Naya and Travis Willingham, respectively. Naya passed away in November 2014, before Fates was even revealed. Willingham has not been involved in FE for a long while now, most likely due to union commitments. But I suppose if they WANT to do a "normal" (aka not insane) version of human Anankos, they might ask Cam Clarke to do it.

sombron because literally the entire world of elyos was ravaged by his corrupted, and then he planned to move to other worlds (and would do so there as well). veyle is actively malicious and sadistic, but sombron's impact and wars beat that sothis isnt even evil here, theres just no connection between her and byleth in 3hopes.

You can't just put in Possessed Veyle without Sombron cause he's the one that did that to her Even worst is Rafal cause he actually succeeded in killing everyone in Elyos for daddy Sombron and he wasn't even possessed, he did that all on his own
These are cool and all, and the voice actors and artists all did amazing, but I think I’m gonna skip out on these ones and save my orbs. Just spent a whole bunch trying to get other characters I wanted more, unfortunately. Maybe someday I’ll try and get the Byleth and Maria ones. Personally, not super interested in the others. I’ll definitely get Linus though! I hope everyone gets lucky with their pulls!🍀
Yes. Judging from her description, this is meant to be Byleth whenever you kill Jeralt in any of Three Hopes's routes, as they willingly allow Sothis to take over.
You know, would male Byleth still be played by Zach Aguilar (when trying to resist), still Casandra Lee Morris who’s Sothis, or someone who sounds like to merge both Zach and Cassandra?
During a cutscene in 3Hopes where Shez almost defeats Byleth, Sothis takes complete control over them and almost kills Shez. Sothis speaks through them, where you can only hear her voice. It wasn't a shared layering of a voice thing.
Logically he should be voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris, Byleth's sex changes nothing to the fact that Sothis overtakes their body and as such is the one talking, with her own voice.
He's design is based on a Cipher card of him called Risen King Chrom. He is also referenced on an Awakening DLC, Infinite Regalia, where Lucina mentions that one of the risen has the brand of exalt like chrom, it is also implied that the enemies of the game are the generation 1 of awakening but dead
@Ahiru The enemies in that DLC map are also references to the original Deadlords of Genealogy of the Holy War. This is farther referenced by the music that plays on that map, Light and Dark, which is also from Genealogy. It’s also is probably why you get Eldigan, a boss from Genealogy who is tragically wrongfully executed by his own tyrant king, as a reward for clearing that map too. It’s pretty fitting considering Awakening took it’s whole parent-child gimmick straight from Genealogy as well. Except both 1st gen and 2nd gen live to the end of the game in Awakening. Pretty sure the Chrom alt is just a reference to his fallen Cypher card and Awakening’s prologue, though.
