/ ruby_rooz Hey kid, you wanna learn some tactics? Discord - / discord One of my top 5 GBA games I was lucky enough to be exposed to. Please play it. It's very good. Support: / ruby_rooz
Pro tips for any new player getting into the game: - Always level up Florina, she sucks but the mere thought of an autistic girl one-shotting bosses is too powerful to ignore - The game is made to be completed multiple times, besides your first run you should consider ironman runs (no resets) - Real men™ never back out once inside the Arena - Eliwood is a nerd don't give him any kills go feed Rebecca or something - Archers suck since close range units can also attack from afar with certain weapons, give the devs the middle finger and feed them anyway - Supports are an amazing mechanic to buff your units for later chapters, but that crap is for shippers, don't use them - If you land most of your hits consider going into a casino (you have good luck) - If you land none of your hits consider going into a casino (you saved your good luck for the real thing)
When I was but a young child I spent a week with my mate at his house, we were both 15 and basically unsupervised. Truly an amazing time. One thing that always reminds me of those golden days is the taste of mi goreng noodles. My mate and I wanted two minute noodles however, and we referred to the mi goreng as "Bootleg noodles" when we first saw them. Then we tried them however, and ho boy did everything change. My point is I just found this channel after watching every Sseth video available on his channel and I can safely say that your content, is bootleg noodle quality. You deserve so many more subscribers tbh.
This is one of those types of videos that's just going to blow up to a million views and change the trajectory of your channel. This is a very well made video.
I just replayed it this week. My favorite game from my childhood. Starting Hector mode tonight. Just a blast of nostalgia. I can’t bring myself to play the new ones. They just aren’t the same.
well tbf that is true in a way. GBA Emblem was made to go back to basics after they lost their lead director kaga after Thracia 776. So things like Skills and secondary mechanics got cut. This gives GBA Emblem a nostalgic feel as the Base of Fire Emblem Gameplay. Now, FE has long since removed itself from that idea. With Open areas to explore between maps, Skills are in the dozens, Marriage is everywhere, and several secondary mechanics.
Lucius is awesome. In appearance, personality and especially in gameplay. He's just so great at stomping basically any of the mages that are super abundant in the lategame, and is one of only 4 units who has access to a weapon that is effective against Nergal and The Dragon that isn't exclusive to them. He can use Aureola which can also be used by Athos, Serra and Renault. As a professional loser I'll explain why he's better than every other option for it in list format. Athos: Has Foreblaze which is effective against both Nergal and The Dragon which is an exclusive spell for him so he should use it. Serra: Statistically turns out to have lower Hp, Magic, Speed and Res. Her Defense and Luck are slightly higher so she may fare better against physical opponents. Renault: Statistically turns out to have lower Magic, Skill, Speed and Res. He has higher Hp, Defense and Luck, so against physical opponents he's way better, but his firepower is really lackluster. If you bothered to read this far, thank you for humoring my 3am rants.
@@johnwilson1762 5 starting strength lowest might weapon type 40% strength growth with a 2 defense base and 20% growth there is very little safe engagements for her to level up and you have mutch better units to be using than a foot locked swordfighter who gets the worst weapon type as a premotion when all the enimeys are using lances
I remember playing five sacred stones in highschool and this one not long after highschool. It was super fun of course. Glad to see such a modernised homage for it
"I don't care if it takes me 5x longer, i'm not giving any XP to Sain or Kent, they're fucking normies" - based take. Finally someone who has a similar mentality to me. My roster in every Fire Emblem game is based on units I like - even on hard modes. I refuse to use any women or children, light magic users, and generally avoid using Paladins because they are boring af. This min maxing/optimization autism shit is so out of hand and seems especially prevelant in the FE games. And don't even get me started on the people who RNG abuse with save states. i also agree on getting every unit to 20 before promoting, I sometimes even do it with healers, its just the Chad way. I do it even in Thracia 776.
Instead of hiding Lyn and never using her, I actually hid Eliwood in my first playthrough and barely used him. Long story short, the game instapromoted him in a very low level, it penultimate chapter was too hard (until I just made Pent silence Limstella and then finished her with somebody else) and I got stuck in the final chapter until I figured out you can solo it with Athos. 10/10
Pro tips 1. Movement is the most important stat speed is a close second. 2.magic ignores defence use a wizard to kill the generals and armour Knights. 3.you can do a lot of crazy micro with the rescue, trade and give comands. 4. The warp staff is broken. 5. Dancers are broken. 6.The reason no one uses Marcus is NOT beacause he "steals exp" it's beacause he is to powerfull. 7. Give athos luna. 8.exp gain lowers after level 10 you can go to level 20 but it is not needed. 9. Prepromotes are better then high investment units. 10. Lyn falls of the face of the earth after lyn mode is over. 11. mages outcompete Archer's. 12. Growth rates exist but a units base stats make them more reliable.
@@mega77mage killer that cant counter 1-2 range? lol. probably 80% of the cast is better with dealing with mages than lyn just by having access to javelins/hand axes. and for axe killer - every unit can kill axe units. for the very few scary axe units just use an axereaver if you are limited to lances only. lyn just gets out shined by most other units in the game. sword/bow locked and low strength cant be made up by having overkill speed, 200% hit or whatever lyn "excels" at.
"The reason no one uses Marcus is NOT beacause he "steals exp" it's beacause he is to powerfull." Really? I still see it as a common opinion that Marcus "steals EXP" and that overusing him will somehow make the game impossible to beat in the later chapters. This is obviously completely incorrect, but I still see it held as a common opinion in casual circles.
@@vanjagalovic3621 What I was trying to say is that Marcus is good but he is so strong that he can make the early game kinda boring since he solo's everything. And of course there are a lot of poeple who use Marcus I was exaggerating for dramatic effect. What I really mean is you can use him and he's really strong but I don't use him much since he can make the game too easy.
Awesome video!! Since 2003 this has been on my top 5. I picked this game up on a whim. I was 13, had just gotten a GBA for getting decent grades, and saved up some birthday money and got this... this gba trilogy is one of my favorites along with pokemon (1-3 gen) and Dark Souls trilogy :D
I remember getting this game for Christmas for the GBA and hating it because it was bORinG. Gave it a chance and proceeded to love and replay it for the next 30 years and counting
Blazing sword was my 3rd or 4th fire emblem game, didnt get around to playing it until i was like 18, and its still my favorite. Its the best one. Its balanced so well for both good and bad players, theres an unbelievable amount of skill expression.
I just started it recently on the Switch online emulator and I have to say it's the first Fire emblem I ever played and it is so fun. I'm a fan 100% like forming a strategy is such fun.
Well if I remember correctly there is a way to manipulate rng to make sure the same result don't happen on reload. Basically the game "burns" its rng when you like moving a unit and there like multiple path to that location. The arrow indication the route changes as you alternate back and forth and which path it takes actually show you if its a high or low roll. But that let you manipulate rng like before leveling or combat.
I was always more a Sacred Stones guy, what with the choice in the splitting narrative that preceeds even Revelation's or Three House's story splitting aspect.
My first fire emblem was sacred stones. My disappointment upon learning that pegasus knights promoting into wyverns was atypical was immeasurable, and I have sworn vengeance upon all lesser pegasus knights. Except Marcia, she's okay.
Ah yes, I remember it well. Cameron sliced my Marcus in half with his Horseslayer, after resetting my SP 3 times and seeing him die over and over, I pulled a Cameron myself and split my SP in half. Somehow, this didn't improve my mood. I was 12.
Honestly, I still ain't getting that expansion membership for this game cause having to beat it twice on braindead easy difficulties hurts me a little. Still, nice vid Ruby and to the fine folks reading you can dig for a ROM file that already has the hardest difficulty unlocked if you wish to try Fire Emblem at peak strategy but miss out on story(unless you've played the game before but honestly you ain't need some randos advice now do ya?) TL;DR: Ruby Rooz based and emulation is cheaper and can find a file with max difficulty to skip playing the game twice to get it if you wish to challenge yourself.
3:10 This is too true. I thought Lucius was a girl for a long time and just presumed the translators made a typo... Then I thought I might be wrong, but at that point it was too late.
This is a solid video and FE7 was Nintendo's response to the GameCube making me ask the question "who the fuck is Roy?". I never found out who the fuck Roy was because I can't read Japanese, but I learned Eliwood is a nerd. Also, I blame this game for making me like women from the plains.
I have never had someone so accurately display my own feelings. Not vibing with the non GBA FE games, picking the units that look cool (like Matthew), leveling them to 20 before promoting, and just generally realizing that this game is the shit
Agency and free will are the same thing. It is meaningless to say you have agency without free will, since the terms are fully interchangeable anywhere they appear.
i remember playing this game endlessly growing up, i instantly restarted my level incase one of my characters died, i wanted to true to complete the game having everyone left. personally i think sacred stone was probably a better game but simply being able to say i was able to plat this as a kid definitely puts a smile on my face
But if you dont use Bartre the fighter you cant recruit his anime waifu sword woman Karla Their support conversations amuse me greatly, their also wholesome
Oh ok if you want to compare, I got to start off on a blackmarket copy of Binding Blade ;) It was in Japanese and I made up dialog for myself while playing it. Also the game could not save so I was on perma-iron man mode.
Back when i played this in 2014, when i was 13, my thoughts were: -Lyn and Guy were really strong, before their weapons broke. -pegasus knights sucked( I did not use rescue, and treated them as front units) -I got stuck at the Pirate Gaiden( i refused to lose any units and always got atleast one to die on that map.
Well, it's too late now, but this game was on the eShop for the WiiU, so maybe if someone was insane and had this one their WiiU and was willing to sell you their consol, you could get it that way. But the easier way is to own a Switch and pay for NSO.
For anyone interested in this game: -Marcus is the easy button of this game. You can either use him to solo every chapter of the game or give him a heavy weapon to weaken units to feed scrubs. -If a chapter looks tough, dont be afraid to early promote a unit or two. The increase in stats from promotion bonuses and possible access to new weapon types can turn the next few chapters from absolute slogs into cakewalks.
Also people who are still wondering how to play this game, you can play it on GBA Nintendo switch online. Only problem is that switch online+ is $50...
me thick shell no undurstundo supreior species Japanese gameplaye especially one laced with RNG and multiple reset nostalgia that people didn't solve , just remembered and kinda got a feel for , but never 100
The latest Fire Emblem, that being Engage, has actually gotten me right in the GBA nostalgia. It's the best game in the series in a long time, and my personal 2nd favorite after Sacred Stones, just above Blazing Blade and Binding Blade.
How dafuq did that Rebecca get 20 strength at promoted level 7 The RNG can be adjusted by arrowdancing, for example you take your paladin and move the cursor to its maximum movement range, after that you move the cursor up and down and every time the arrow indicator changes the RNG changes which can turn hits into misses, stat gains into more favorable ones or vice versa.
The elitist in me hates the fact he said he benchs marcus lmao hes literally the best unit in the game. Also using archers and lyn makes me wanna throw up
Actually Luck doesn't determent Crit Chance. Skill does aside from hit. Luck gives a small boost to hit and dodge chance and reduces the chance of you getting hit by enemy crits. 🤓
