@@Baam1092 Sylvain:"Women suck, they only want me because of my crest. Let's see how I can ruin Byleth's day when I am in her class." Byleth:*Literally only wants him there because of his crest, uses him for exactly that purpose because lance* Sylvain:"Sh*t."
Sylvain always gets crap about being a skirt chaser at first. Then you get to know the guy and he's actually a really great guy who just wants to have fun.
He's somewhat tolerable in how he acts toward other playable characters, but how he treats NPC girls is another thing entirely. He's been shown to take advantage of girls when they're emotionally vulnerable (Manuela B), cheat and lie about it (Byleth C), and in general, feels very little guilt for the pain he causes. I think he's a good character, but I don't find him to be very likable at all.
If you actually look at a lot of his supports, he explains a lot of girls want him for his crest. He does what he does to try and force those girls away. It's explained simply in Byleth B support where he says he hates his crest since it's a magnet to them. He purposefully act the way he does to try and avoid what he's destined to become. As Chrom would say - ANYTHING CAN CHANGE! (This isn't the correct line, but it was the first one that came to mind)
I've read his supports especially the Byleth ones but I just can't get to liking him. It seems like a bs excuse to keep being a fuck boy to me, because you don't need to be so focused on women and toy with their hearts just because oh I have a crest and I hate it. No that's not good enough for me, he's a good guy sure but just like Claude I can't feel a connection to this character. It feels like a sick game, it doesn't help when he is intentionally putting himself in this situation of getting with girls who want his crest and breaks their hearts in exchange just because he feels like it. Outside of his live life he's a good guy in my book.
3:09 "I'm so tired of hearing that! You've always blamed me for something that isn't my fault." The core of Sylvain, everyone. *Edit:* thanks for the likes! If you want, I've commented a mini analysis on sylvain on why he might be the way he is
Wowzers! Thanks for all the likes! But before I leave this subject, I've been really trying to analyze fe3h's characters, both on my own and influenced by others. Like literally every student, Sylvain definitely has so much depth. *TL;DR-* Mercedes and Sylvain's A support encompasses Sylvain's character. Byleth and Sylvain's support is also golden Like seriously, the guy was born with a crest and probably suffered from the abuse of his brother from a young age due to Miklan's envy. This-along with potentially any other 'You're only useful because of your crest' related abusive things-really fricks up Sylvain to the point where he questions on whether or not he should keep living; at some point he even confesses that he didn't expect to live a long life. All these issues are reflected in his supports, the backbone of character to character intercton. How many A supports does Sylvain have? *5* Felix has 11 A supports. Dimitri has 9 A supports. Ingrid has 10 A supports. The 3 friends who grew up with Sylvain have almost double the A support! In fact, Sylvain is 2nd to last in amounts of A support (1st got passed to Jeritza). Hubert and Hanneman are third with 7 A supports each. But why is that??? I think Sylvain puts on a dumb, flirty quick-to-be-intimate front but he's quite the opposite from it (kinda, I still think he's that friend who does dumb stuff for the laughs). Deep down Sylvain is observative, smart, capable but puts on a mask and does pretty crappy things to help cope-though very unhealthily-with his own issues and past trauma, pushing away his problems and even becoming the problem as a means to prevent a problem from potentially happening (which does nothing but make things worse, thus perpetuating a cycle). He puts up walls and doesn't let anyone in. The only people who Sylvain let in were the ones who saw through his deception yet still stayed by his side while also encouraging him to be a better Sylvain-not as a crest Gautier man, just as Sylvain. I could go on and keep breaking down his character but i'd be here forever. Anywho, thanks for coming to my Ted talk, I absolutely love Fe3h.
TIffany H holy shit. If you ever write anything feh related ever again send me a link. Or anything in general. This is an amazing analysis. I’m subbing too
I love how at the very end you can tell that Sylvain wishes that things had been different, that he and Miklan could've actually gotten along as brothers without Sylvain's crest/their parents driving them apart.
Good one lol 2:31 it's always fun to mock this game though it has its moments. I always like seeing the allies miss, especially Catherine 4 times with thunderbrand, or the clipping animations.
Unrelated to this video topic. Am I the only one that loves all the students and try to recruit them all in every playthrough? After getting to know them, I can't bring myself to kill them.
So...by doing that, you will only encounter those faceless units after the timeskip. It makes the whole "worst class reunion" thing meaningless. But it does make us feel better for not having to kill them.
I think it'd actually be interesting if Miklan had somehow survived this battle and was Azure Moon-specific DLC the way Jeritza was Crimson Flower-specific DLC. I mean I know Miklan is canonly considered dead, but if they ever wanna pull an Awakening, it'd be neat to see it explored.
Peter Criss Sylvain is against what crests do to their society. He even wondered if he would’ve met the same fate as miklan if he didn’t have a crest. He doesn’t blame himself for having a crest but he does blame the nobility for making it this way and part of edelgards plan is to reform that.
@@Juneeeee33 as yes, reforming the crest system by wiping away half the population. Don't have to worry about people being mistreated in society if you just get rid of the people :p
@@petercriss9001 I don’t think she wants to kill people, but she’s not stupid. She knows the established order is based on the Church of Seiros, nobility, and crest-bearers. Very few, if any, people would willingly relinquish power or leave that way of life because it’s all they know. Diplomatic tactics with the Church would fail. Edelgard sees war as the only way to achieve that new order that she dreams of.
Knowing what he did to Sylvain in the past, I'd rather that he keeps far, far away from Sylvain. Even though it would be kind of interesting to learn more about his childhood, it still rubs me the wrong way to think about that prick to be near him ;;
@@evelin7501 I couldn't find it in settings just now for the game... I also just checked the normal system settings and nothing was there. If your playing on the tv there is settings like that or else I don't know.
I wanted to see what the brother’s interaction would be like but unfortunately Sylvain died in battle before getting to his brother when I was playing, so I’m here.
I feel bad that he was cast aside by his family for not having a Crest, but Miklan tried to kill Sylvain in the past due to his jealousy and resentment so I don’t have a lot of sympathy for him.
@@lady_pink_kurama Sylvain tells Mercedes about Miklan trying to kill him in their B Support. And in his A Support with Byleth he mentions a specific incident when he was a kid when Miklan pushed him into an empty well in the middle of winter and left him there.
@@lady_pink_kurama Also in the DLC, Yuri mentioned that he rapes Woman as well, maybe Sylvain gets his attitude towards Women from him? Yeah they really want you to not like him.
Some Frickface yeah I agree tbh, especially Miklan his voice is so... bland? I don’t really know how to put it but idk he just sounds like you would expect him to.
