People on Amazon say they have tried 3-5 different brands of 220-230g fuel and NON fit and let the lid close.Coleman isnt even close (too wide) FInd one that fits and lets it seal and close up normally?
Thank you for this review. I wasn't sure if I wanted the fire maple or the jet boil, but I think the fire maple will perform just fine at a cheaper price
After watching this review I ordered one two days ago arrived today, great bit of kit I also fitted a go system 220 cartridge inside no problem, thank for the review ✌️
@@ALNSMOVERLAND Hi mate, looking for a coffee press for this, can’t find anything on RU-vid, do you know if the jetboil coffee press would work with this, could be a new video for you. 🏴✌️
Thank you for this review. Gas cartridges with a safety valve should be left in a sleeping bag overnight so that they are warm and can deliver more power. Your gas cartridge may only have had an ambient temperature of 9 degrees, which could already lead to a drop in performance.
Good review! I keep seeing JetBoil (and/or similar) stoves in other peoples' gear but didn't really know much about them. Seems like it can be a smart supplement to a regular stove where you can go through a lot of gas trying to boil a pot of water. I enjoyed the race between the two stoves. :-)
I think the choice of gas canister can make a big difference to the boiling time. Different makes have different blends of gas and propane is hotter than butane.
@@ALNSMOVERLAND it’s worth taking a look online. Different blends work better in different temperatures. If you take pure butane to a sub freezing environment, it won’t work well at all. You can even get a conductive heat exchanger to take heat from the flame to the cartridge to maintain its pressure when cold.
Love your review and video. I am a new follower and I rarely make comments, but I was hoping you can let me know if I can use Fire-Maple Z1 LPG Propane Canister Adapter with the Fire Maple X2 stove so i can use Propane fuel instead? I use a Mr. Buddy heat during the winter and like to use the same type of fuel. Car camping so weight is not an issue for me. thanks in advance for anyone's help on this matter. and it someone already asked and commented on this topic sorry, I must have missed it.
All “Jetboil folded fin” type stoves don’t do as well in the wind.. turn off the wind it will work better ☺️ great video 🙏 Edit: just learned about the “ Jetboil Windburner “
Salut !
Man, we need more reviews from South European people. People only focus on boiling water... What's up with that? I much prefer a proper confort cooked meal that takes 25 minutes to prepare than some factory made artificial powder bag that takes 4 minutes. Specially when camping. That was the philosophy back when campingaz was king. I can still take my parents 45 year old foldable stove and screw it on those canisters and it will still work perfect. They were made for durability and versatility. Nowadays the focus is all in saving a dozen grams of weight... To the extreme that people will willingly sacrify the main purpose: cooking. Can you make a simple stew with that firemaple setup using the integrated top? Does the stove allow for fine power control? I have a firemaple 102 and and the control is superb.
You can't! This is not a campingaz bottle but a Biltema one I bought in Sweden! (which have almost the same color) So it's a screw type bottle, the one you need for the Fire Maple stove 😉
The 9 minutes vs 3 advertised minutes are definitely related to the ambien temperature. At 20-25 degrees it will boil much faster. There's also some wind. In the case of the old burner the wind ruins everything since the flame is fully exposed and also because you're using a much larger pot. This means more heat exchange area with the environment. Also the larger pot doesn't have that fancy green coat. A more fair comparison would be boiling 1 liter in the green pot first on one burner and then on the other.
Yeah, I have a footage explaining the crazy energy loss with the old stove but I though it was just plain obvious and logical so I didn't include it in the video while editing. And I guess you are missing the point of the comparison here. The point was to show that the super efficient kind of stove just like the Fire Maple or the Jetboil perform better than my old setup, wich is the "basic" kind of stove. So this is old stove setup VS new stove setup THE WAY I USE THEM. I didn't had the green pot when I used my old stove. And I won't use the big grey pot on my new stove.
@@ALNSMOVERLAND hello, there. Nice video. Just a small comment: my fire maple 3 (.8 L) boils half a liter of water, in the field, in 3 to 3.5 (rounding) minutes. It's not quite impressive, actually, since my previous diy alcohol axe-deodorant-can stove used to boil the same volume between 4 to 5 minutes. But overall, I'm happy with the product specially due to the safety involved: there were some accidents regarding the stability of the old alcohol stove turning over.

Because of your review on the Fire Maple X2 stove, I purchased one and just received it yesterday. Can't wait to use it on my next adventure. Please keep up your posting!!!
