I have put a camera outside my skinks enclosure just to see what he does when I'm not there. It's fun to watch.

Mine likes blueberries I’ve also given them rehydrated dehydrated raw dog food. And wet cat food. They’ll eat any prepared reptile diets as well; repashy, mazuri, exoterra, etc. mine will even eat crested gecko diet lol. So literally anything. They like egg and boiled chicken and turkey too. They’ll basically eat anything a blue-tongue skink will eat. The staple of my skinks diet is still insects though but I like to add variety.

He is so quick! And a freak, but I think all growing reptiles are. My baby beardie was nuts...he is a year old and can still be a freak and he's quick. it's insane! Aww...what a great face shot at the end.

yup young reptiles are much more skittish, and fire skinks are skittish on top of that lol.

Jessica,... have you ever considered getting for Roku a Female Terrarium Companion?
@JessicasAnimalFriends
@JessicasAnimalFriends 3 года назад
No because they don’t need to be cohabbed unless you’re breeding

I know this is a fire skink video but what ambient air temperature do you recommend for leopard geckos? I know the heat pad for belly heat, basking spot needs to be around 88-92 F but nothing really mentioned in detail about air temps.
@JessicasAnimalFriends
@JessicasAnimalFriends 5 лет назад
I keep the air temp around 75

Hello Jessica, what a wild child! Part of the little ones charm. Someday you'll look back and won't believe what a wild child you had. You will have tamed and holding him/ her for us. Rocu dosen't hate you just a little skittish. Sorry for spelling the name wrong. I'm sure I did.😀 God bless you and yours, Lin 🤗🦎

They aren't like geckos. They can eat dubia roaches about the size of their head. They enjoy riping them up. I don't bowl feed crickets because they don't hide in substrate like roaches and worms. So I like him to get the enrichment from hunting them. It's also fun to watch. I only give him six or eight crickets because they can bit your pet if they are in there for too long.. mine is a male that's almost two years old. Bigger ones can indulge in a pinky mouse about once a month. Also gives them a jump start if they are a little sickly. It will provide them with excellent calcium, fat, and protein. But don't overdo it. I also only dust calcium about every fifth feeding or so.. an offer UV a&b so they are able to metabolize the calcium. A lot of people overdo it on the calcium and it can also lead to metabolic Bone disease. It's actually counterintuitive to give them too much with no UV lighting to metabolize it. Otherwise you had a really great video I learned some things and hopefully you have learned a few things from me. I keep a large number of reptiles and I've had the sickness for about 30 years lol so I'm pretty knowledgeable with reptiles and amphibians. And I wouldn't steer you wrong these are all things I do with my fire stick and he is incredibly healthy. Please continue to make great videos!

How do you prevent the hornworm from biting your gecko? I know they bite pretty hard too, so I’m pretty scared to try it...
@JessicasAnimalFriends
@JessicasAnimalFriends 5 лет назад
if you are concerned about the bite, you can cool them down before feeding them. this makes them lethargic. I've really only noticed a nasty bite from the big ones.

Hi there you said there diurnal but in some of your other video you say it’s nocturnal if you can respond to me that would be great just to clarify which is it!! Love your vids. Btw
@JessicasAnimalFriends
@JessicasAnimalFriends 4 года назад
Fire skinks are not nocturnal and I do not believe I have ever said so, but if you could point me in the direction you believe I did I’d love to know so I can edit that potential mistake. Fire skinks are diurnal however they hide most of the time & mine comes out at night anyway so you might find crepuscular or nocturnal habits in your skink
