I left my window open once, and the gnats got through the screen. Next morning, there were gnats stuck in the epoxy just by their wings. Looked like a gnat carnival ride.😂😂

Love this cup ❤️ Quick question...when you're preparing for a craft show how many cups do you take? Obviously this is July 2020 and we're not going to any shows this summer...but I'm just starting to make cups for my family and I may do some craft fairs this winter... maybe! Lol

I took about 20 to the last show but wish I’d had more. I’m prepping to have at least 40 ready made and on hand for the holidays this year.

I’m just beginning, I run into issues with dry spots. I’m in Texas gulf coast area working in my garage. On first coat of epoxy how smooth does it need to be, and does it matter if I use more epoxy than needed. On alcohol ink can I add as much as I want or such I limit colors and amount. Then letting first coat cure, do I just leave on turner the whole time. Then what’s your process on second coat, if it needs sanding, more ink, etc. on final epoxy how do I make sure it’s smooth all the way around

Hello! This was very helpful. I just started making cups!!! Is there a certain kind of sand paper I need to sand my cup?

Usually a pretty fine grit works well between layers or to prep.

@ThePurpleStitch

Another layer of epoxy with less heat. That can cause waves.
@plotnicovalilia9662

Hi. You sand when you finish the cup? If you do how you make it? Thanks for your tutorial, it exactly that I looking for. And, one more question, if y don't sand when you finish, a work and colors look like glass. Thank you
@ThePurpleStitch

I do not sand after the final coating of epoxy. Only when I am adding another layer of epoxy or just before I do the decal.

I’ve definitely had to battle with them, but since I started making sure NOT to touch the cup with barehands beforehand it seems like I don’t have them so bad.

I keep getting the divots or those eye spots. How do I get rid of that? I epoxy, sand, decal, epoxy, sand, and epoxy and I still get dimples like. Or whatever their called.
@ThePurpleStitch

What I’ve found that seems to help a lot is not touching with bare hands and also a clear coat of spray paint on top of layers that are giving me trouble.

Yes, I have shelf liner wrapped around my pool noodles and foam pieces for each attachment. I get most cups from stainless depot but also buy at Walmart and Buccees.

Hey lady .... so I have tried tumbler using white with a few other ink colors and it’s like it dried out in places and in some places the epoxy thinned out down to the cup itself . What am I doing wrong ? Any suggestions ?
@ThePurpleStitch
@ThePurpleStitch 4 года назад
I am almost certain my dry spots were from touching my cup with my bare hands. I can’t recall it happening again since I made the connection. Try not to touch it without gloves or with a paper towel. Hope that helps!!

@ThePurpleStitch
@ThePurpleStitch 4 года назад
I would think you could as long as the epoxy is runny enough. There may not be as much movement but might be a good alternative if the arm isn’t removable. Just keep in mind the fumes you might be breathing in if you heat it up. 🙂

Can this be done on plastic tumblers??
@ThePurpleStitch
@ThePurpleStitch 3 года назад
I have heard mixed information on this. The main disadvantage (other than the possible chemical reaction) is that plastic isn’t rigid enough to keep from cracking the epoxy. I’ve seen people do it successfully, but I don’t plan to attempt it.
