The name tosilog was derived from the different components of the meal which are: Tocino (cured pork), Sinangag (Filipino garlic fried rice), and Sunny-side up egg.

Love your videos. You made a comment about the gap in the box pot lid. What I did with mine, was to use lead-free solder. It holds water and it’s easy to clean. Also, thanks for the parchment folding tutorial- excellent!

Such a great piece of kit! Parchment paper saves so much work with cleanup. And i appreciate the instructional videos on how to fold them liners. And a meal prep that's new to me, even after visiting the Philippines

Excellent presentation! I used mine for the first time in my in my box-pot in a yet to be released camping video, I did use the pizza stone and cooked the rice in my Firebox gen 2-5 inch over a twig fire and it came out perfect, nothing burned as well. I love the box-pot. thanks again for a great presentation my friend.

Good video, parchment paper is a must if you have a thin guage stainless steel pan & even for the aluminium pan of Trangia 27 or 25 series cook sets. Thank you for sharing👍

Absolute genius! I was wondering how a small amount of water under the parchment paper might work... 🤔 Your food always looks so good! I use the box pot on a diagonal with the scout stove. If you line it up the rounded corners of the box pot can be a bit tricky. Beautiful work! He truly are a firebox master! And those parchment papers are so neat and tidy when I do it It's an absolute train wreck😂 still works but doesn't look nearly so nice 👍

I’ve made and eaten tocino many times and eaten it with garlic fried rice and eggs. Didn’t realize it had a name. I’m use to making and eating tapsilog - Tapsilog is a portmanteau of: tapa (beef), sinangag (garlic fried rice), and itlog (fried egg). I’ve been using parchment paper in my mess tin cooking rice for years now. The mess tin has rounded corners, not so easy for an origami parchment insert, so I’ve just been pressing in a piece (not pretty, but works!). Easy clean up.

My brother! tapsilog is another favorite! along with longsilog if you can figure that one out, lol I have a future cook I'm planning in the 5-way cast iron, Adobong Puti. Its going to be a very filling video, I may have to use my hand to eat that one. Thanks for watching! Cheers!

I love the ideal of the parchment paper yes could you do a video on parchment, I been testing it with brown rice it help with lest rice and more water it bring almost like white rice you keep eye on timing

What is tocino seasoning? In making tocino in the Philippines, the pork belly meat is first sliced into thin strips. Anise wine, annatto, water, sugar, and salt are combined in a container, and the meat strips are sprinkled with the mixture and stacked in a container, which is covered and refrigerated for three days to cure.

There are many recipes on google for tocino. You can go the purist way with just marinating the pork with salt and sugar or the recipe @larryn8 suggested. The recipe I used was one that I found through google searches that used pineapple juice (great meat tenderizer). You will find many variations due to the many provinces in the Philippines, they all taste great. Have fun cooking and tasting. It will definitely breakup the monotony of breakfast.
