Ward Kimball and the gang blow the tires off the 1910 classic, stick a firecracker in the tail pipe and leave a whoopee cushion on the seat. Seems like this clip gives one an idea of how wild the FF+2 shows must've been.
Takes me waay back to the Beverly Cavern in LA; me, my fake ID, my girl and hers and my good friends with theirs watching and listening to these crazy genius's do their magic. The place would go nuts when they let go with that siren!! What fun times! Thanks guys wherever you are.
Big thanks for sharing. Never see befor, this video is -for me- one historic jewel. The sound was not taped (recorded) directly but on recording studio. The play back is "correct" but Harper Goof's banjo chords are not "exactly-exactly" the same on studio and here, on video. Best wishes to you all. FromFrance : Jo Luttringer, he have the honor to play (banjo) with (and behind) George Probert in Switzerland...
This was the Disney house band. They actually were offered a touring contract, but they would have had to leave Disney (two of these men, Frank Thomas (piano) and Ward Kimball (trombone) were supervising animators there and the others worked in other departments.) They chose to keep their Disney careers. Sadly, late in their careers, the Disney management forced them to stop playing at the Studio...people were actually coming to hear them when they should have been working (on lunch hour?)
Trombone player is the multi-talented Ward Kimball, famous Walt Disney animator and the creator of Jiminy Cricket, and one of the few people ever who match wits with Grouch Marx (google his appearance on You Bet Your Life).
This was when America was at its best--none of the bitter cynicysm that passes for entertainment today. Those people in the audience didn't realize how lucky they were.
a little research has turned up the name of the movie this clip is from. "GROUND FOR MARRIAGE" Starring Van Johnson and Kathryn Grayson from 1951. A musical!
Then ya should have heard the Princeton Garden Statesmen Barbershop Chorus on any given performance....the guys and I had great times with this one!! That was about the ONLY droopy cartoon I ever had the stomach for, btw...HAD to be Tiger rag held me!!
That guy in the audience is a very fine actor, very famous : VAN JOHNSON. He starred in many great films including: THIRTY SECONDS OVER TOKYO among many others. Don't recognize the girl he is with...I think this clip is from a movie...wondering which one!
Man, I love Firehouse Five + 2 and I'm only 14... Hah, lol XD Anyway... WHERE THE HELL IS JA-DA ?! I remember finding only one video of it and I can't find it anymore !!! D: Can you guys help me find it?
