We have been working on our 1926 home for quite some time now, and finally we had the time to tackle the fireplace and mantel. This fireplace makeover was not a huge feet, but it really made a huge difference in our home. Can't believe we waited so long to do this, it made such a huge difference to the whole room. Can't wait till next Christmas to see it decked out in decorations.

Nice looking mantle. The green color makes the fireplace pop. Y’all have a nice home for it to be 97 years old.

So much paint. Our house is 101 years old and we are also battling layers and layers of paint. Our mantle is newer so we will be ripping it out and replacing it. Our bricks are painted white. It’s weird because someone covered the original brick with brick veneer. I kind of want to bust them off and reveal the original 1900’s bricks but I also kind of don’t want to 🙃

Wow, 101 years! You got us beat! We counted atleast 8 layers of paint on the mantel, including green and peach, haha. If you have attic access, maybe you could get a look at the chimney and the original brick to get an idea of why they would cover it.

@@boydstongrove you beat us on the layers! We seem to have around 4 layers of variations of off white with a teal thrown in the middle (1950’s?). I will probably bring the teal back with accessories and art in the bathroom.
