Lol have you seen the videos coming from all over the world where buildings are being built horribly with trusses broken, welds on doors broken, walls out of plumb, so many stuff ups by professionals I reckon the man makes these videos is probably a better standard of quality/build then regular builders.

Holy cow what an undertaking! So impressed Anton! It was surprising to see the wall "insulation", the termites, how much light the place has when the floor is opened up. To maintain the discipline and interest to dyi all of it for a year (to say nothing of the bureaucracy part!), remarkable.

Looks beautiful, I’m sure there are reasons, but why not pour a concrete slab? That crawl space you made underneath the your new flooring is the perfect home for critters
@jeannebuttons5301
@jeannebuttons5301 5 месяцев назад
I'm not a professional home builder but I do know some houses need a crawl space underneath like that is open to allow underfloor wiring, airflow and drainage. Additionally a solid slab of concrete isn't usually a good idea in places that get a lot of earthquake activity because it could crack.

For future renovation projects, ould it be possible to rent a wood chipper to turn all of the wood and paper products into bags of sawdust which could be more easily disposed of, burned, or turned into mulch?

Been following this story for awhile now and it's awesome to see the whole process unfold! I'd love to do something like this in Shonan, but I'm not handy with these sorts of things. Ideally, I'd like to renovate some houses near the beach and rent them out as guesthouses. There's not a lot of them out here, which is surprising considering how packed it gets during on-season,.

Hi Anton, it’s true about all the comments, you have to show the final result of your renovation. And also, the question about how much did you spend on throwing all the trash as you said it was expensive and cost 15k, but you didn’t follow up on how much did you spend in total, as well the the final cost of the house after renovation and if you ever put it in the market, how much would you sell it for.

@kaylamountain8253
@kaylamountain8253 6 месяцев назад
Youre right- traditional insulation is like grout and aluminum (super messy as we saw) and the floorboards are prone to rotting from the space below from either water damage or termites. Then, the structure has to meet the standards for earthquake resistance. Their houses depreciate in value partly because they’re so hard to renovate.
@MRworldEtIkA
@MRworldEtIkA 6 месяцев назад
to be honest, i will have a quieter sleep on the gas station floor than the house in which i knew is rotting by termites everywhere and it also could be om my bed too. living in a space where you knowingly is bad to live in will surely does something on your brain.

Anton, I’ve been thinking. Your renovation videos are very incoherent. You show us the same things over and over again and just a glimpse here and there of the new kitchen. It gets very repetitive and random. I understand that editing videos can be difficult but maybe at least make sure not to show us the same thing over and over. Just a thought. 👍👍

Oh.... oh no... I mean renovating the bones was wonderful but then this final product.. one of those times where could and should are very different. The house was old but charming. The new look... I'm sorry I don't like it. Originally there was a great sense of coziness and sunlight that is just gone. The hose looks barren, or still very much under renovation. A lot of space is lost but for what? Seven meter ceilings that Japanese people do not need? Subdivided space was redesigned but.. to have tiny bedrooms and giant common space areas? And other bedrooms are now without walls? It's a bit of a mess and a no for me.. there was a reason as to why the areas were subdivided the way they were and why tiny bedrooms are not a great idea in a hot and humid country like Japan. I understand why it's a good idea in Sweden - easier to heat up in a very long cold winter maybe? The choice of the colours.. also could be done better. Overall feeling for me is that a warm cozy home was turned into a somewhat barren unwelcoming airbnb.. sorry. I know you worked very hard but the final vision is just a big bo from me❤
