EFV would have been a great idea and a game changer somewhere in the 1970s to mid 80s when the anti ship missiles had a general range of around 75 miles. Then it was a good idea to position your amphibious assault ships 80 miles from the shore and start releasing these EFVs into water. But when the whole project was cancelled (in 2011) EVF as a concept was dead. Anti ship missile's ranges have significantly risen with most of the new missiles having at least 200 miles range. Then the afore mentioned concept has no merit at all. Most of the Marines in the future will go to the hostile beaches jumping out of the Ospreys, covered by F-35Bs (and the complete US navy together with the Air force)..LOL).

You may say our tactics are costly, but think about it. the U.K. used to be number 1. Now with its sub-par attitude its allowed them to let nations pass them. the US Marines have had the same tactics since there creation(exception being Vertical Envelopment). and We have had our loses but by far we've had more success than loss

My last 2 ships were Gators; USS Whidbey Island LSD 41 and USS Wasp LHD 1.

Tarawa class ships are out of Commission. USS Wasp class LHD and the newer USS America LHA class are the primary classes of assault ships

In VN, operating south of Hue- we watched as the Marines came ashore in a predecessor to this vehicle- one ran over a 500 lb bomb set up as a mine- Wham! That thing opened up like a puffball- 30 Marines with it. I could not believe the damage - our US Army patton tanks hit by the same mine would shake up the crew- might be some bloody lips and bit tongues- but, Man! These light weight armored vehicles just blast to tiny pieces and eveyone inside in pieces, too.

to construct FOB , defence , bridges , barracks , refuelling points for gunships , medical bays , communications , logistical base , and other infastructe needed. also the air cover saplied by apache gunship could easy wipe out most armour on the battle field and would make it almost imposable for a counter attack. once this is done the RM would get more renforcements from the British army witch has 100s of 1000 of men. then they would push on all fronts capturing more beachs from the rear-

and the mk 5 can carry small armour and 50 men so 4 main tanks and about 300 men plus 12 Vikings with 120 men from them could capture a beach very easily. also hms ocean is cable of carrying 830 men and 40 vehicles plus 18 helicopters so a synchronized attack from hms ocean , hms bulwark and hms albion could capture 3 separate beaches and could spread out with reinforcements being brought back from those ships.

the RN doe have hovercraft but only ment for troops. they have large landing craft cable of taking a challenger main battle tank! also the RM doe have there equivalent of the AAVs witch is the Viking a 2 part APC witch is amphibious. witch carrys 10 men far smaller than the US but the RM have always used smaller units to accomplished there objectives unlike the yanks who have favoured large infantry with large mechanized units. also the choppers would not have to land but could carry them -

true and tbh we have not go any air assist launched from carriers as parlimetn had a blonde moment and got rid of them for the mean time while we wait for the f-35 :( but we have the 2nd RAF typhoons and tornados armed with JADAMS and laser guided bombs filled by tanker aircraft could doe just as good or even better job that the USMC and if your aerial bombardment is good enough and armour on the beach is enough to lay down fire from the saftly of light armour. casualties should be low

yea very true but a carrier is fare easier to alert enemy defence than a squadron of strike aircraft at low level. but marines and armour would land first eliminate AA weapons then bring in the choppers. well most NATO country's have the best UAV savailce equipment on the plant so that with a tomahawk strike from a destroyer could clear almost 80% of enemy forces from the beach so it would be made easier well in 6 years we will have carrier born aircraft back and there is no -

in the world with RPG and rocket protection such as metal grids on the side hand held rockets would be a waste of time to fire at the tanks and APC except modern weapons such as javlin witch come from above but very few counties have them. the armour and mas of men would push in further and further and as enemy logistical routes have been crippled there on there back foot and would forced to retreat miles back so in a day the RM would have established a deep beach head and call in engineers -

also by the time any affair comes up witch we need a sea to land invasion it would be about 2018-2022 something like that and the royal navy would have the queen Elizabeth class 2 aircraft carrier the most techonolgicaly advanced ship of the time. even though its just short of the size of the Nimitz it will be armed with the f-35 cable of deep strikes and after all enemy radar is down fly in with under wing rails giving them far large payload but no stealth but enemy radar has been taken out!

How many Russian Marines are there? How many fighter planes do they have?Tanks/ artillery pieces? amphibious assault vehicles?Attack Helicopters? Transport helicopters? Not counting stuff belonging to Russian army or air force or navy.

intercept by enemy aircraft even with fighter protection there would still be fredinly loss even with the jamming gear and counter measures there would be loss. and the nimitz class aircraft carrier could taken out by low flying enemy aircraft below radar and could launch multiple missle and even though GOAL KEEPERS would shoot down many missile they would have that covered by shooting a large amount of missile to many for the counter measures to handle.

Brits were not ineffective, the British forces did what brits do best, act as peacekeepers retoriing the local population and training them to look after themselves, with an exception for building a bridge that seemed to take a stupidly long time to build. plus they shouldnt be high anyway in modern warfare the RM dont take that as a option. they will train there men so lives our saved and give them the equipment like Vikings and sea kings to drop men behind the lines and to charge up front to secure a beach land the armour and reniforcemnts and push the secure a large beach head or a runway/ port the bring in the army and navy and rain hell on the rest of the county or area of the fighting

you don't need 10s of thousands of men to take a beach what you need is tactics skill determination and technology witch the RM have plenty of i admit in size to the US were dead in technology we share and have similar gear. tactics we have our own but both good but skills makes us different our RM our better trained as our basic course is almost twice of the US and British forces our well known for it!! im not saying the US core is shit its great in my view but the RM can still pack a punch
