We are learning our new Blacks Creek Innovations firewood processor a little more each time we use it. In this video, we were not trying to make production, but learning what we need to do in order to make production. I think prep work is key. To make the firewood processor work to its full potential, prep work must be put in. From now on, we will cut all logs to 8ft. This will allow for much faster production and just smoother operation. The TYM Tractors make easy work of moving logs around. I think we will look into a dump trailer at some point. I also, think by next year we can make some serious extra money with this machine. We will heat with wood in our new house build, money saves there as well.

Good demonstration video. I really got a feel for how the machine operates. The way you have it configured, it appears to have all the right features to make it productive without any needless and expensive add-ons. Two questions: 1) Those tires look small, can this unit be towed on the highway? 2) Is there an interlock to prevent the cut-off saw from running unless the splitter ram in fully retracted? Looks like it, near the end your other operator tried to cut with the infeed tray in the way.

Can't say I understand companies wanting to keep their prices super secret. Many loops to jump through. I just move on and the name Blacks Creek quickly evaporates out of my brain. In the future should I ever buy a splitter it's unlikely I'll remember to check Blacks Creek. But maybe that's for the best. There's really only one reason for a company to keep prices secret...it's very high so they need a slick salesperson to talk people into buying and your contact info so they can keep hammering people. The high price has to cover the cost of that sales team and marketing. If that machine was an attractive price you can bet they'd be leading with that price. I've dealt with such companies before and can't say I enjoyed the experience.
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 2 года назад
Blacks Creek is a small family-owned company, which is just trying to make it in this turbulent time. They are not like the big companies buying steel from all over the world and they don't have a team of people to change the price as steel prices go up and down. Mostly down. The one thing, I can say for sure is this, I have not had one breakdown in two years other than normal wear items. Changing the oil and one $2 tooth bent on the holding bar. A log hung on a knot and instead of damaging the machine, it bent the tooth-like it should. I met the owner of the company two years ago at a show along with their marking director. They are very good people. The owner goes on mission trips as often as possible, helping people in the US, Canada, and around the world. As for slick salesman: that made me laugh. You will find a rural man or woman, that most likely came off of the manufacturing line to answer the phone. I understand being jaded, but you got this company wrong. It is more like a family.

I was to lazy to adjust the splitting head even though it was just one pin. That would keep wood in. I have very little problems with the hold down. It just works. Simple is most times better. When I made this, I really didn't fully appreciate how the Firewood processor was to be used. It has a sweet spot. 14" logs and down. A person can stack up 100 14" logs and go through them in a day by themself. I been buying logs using the bigger logs for my sawmill, and the smaller logs for firewood. I have made some good money on the side now. I just put a video out were the firewood processor has been moved to a permeant location across from the sawmill. We are going to put a small roof over it.

Kinda big pieces your customers like them that big

At this point, I am my customer. We will be heating a large shop on our farm along with our new home. I plan on helping my family members out a bit too. I can see this making money. I am in no way a pro, but the way we have it setup now, we end up with a couple smaller pieces and then a few bigger pieces. The wood I have sold has not brought any complaints. Yet!

@@TonysTractorAdventure That wood looks awfully big to me. Maybe you could burn the big ones and sell the small ones. If you want to re-split them a kinetic wood splitter would do that the fastest. I don't know whether you can get a 6-way wedge instead of a 4-way wedge.

It is easy enough just to throw the bigger pieces back through the splitter.

this system is so slow, like watching grass grow. If for personal use this is ok but this would never work for commercial use, it would work, but you wouldn't make money

I don’t like this machine, it’s probably crazy expensive and too much of manual operating. Also, each time the boom reverses, it pulls back the log and you lose length of the next cut.
@TonysTractorAdventure
@TonysTractorAdventure 2 года назад
So you don't like it because you don't know the price? You set the log by holding it to what ever length you want. There is virtually nothing manual on it. It seems like you had your mind made up before you got here, and it is obvious you didn't grasp the operation by watching this video. You don't like what you don't understand. All that matters for me is, I would buy it again. I have worked it hard over the past couple years and it has never failed. I wish you the best.
