I hear you on the truck! My grandpa had a 1982 Scottsdale 3/4 ton. Many good memories in that old truck on his farm. Wish I could have ended up with it
Sounds like you need a nephew or a cousin that needs a job to help do firewood! You're very fortunate to have that quality of a processing machine, backhoe to load, skid steer to sift and load, trucks and trailers to haul, and a stockpile of seasoned logs ready to go! Now, my dad would say you have too much time on your hands to run a firewood rig or operation when you could make way more money doing construction work or operating that equipment you already own! Personally I'm fascinated by those processing rigs and think the only faster rigs have those massive 3' blades instead of chain saws! I would tell him look we're heating out barns, buildings, houses etc by firewood anyway and this will pay for itself in only a few years.. LESS if I can sell some firewood!
DLH Farms you dang right! I got a 98 z71 that I'll keep till I'm long in the dirt but it's still nothing like a real square body. Been keeping my eye out for an 85 k20.
Preciate it! Definitely gonna shop around for one that's not completely wore out. Where did you get the hydraulics for yours? Was it a kit or homemade? That'd be nice moving equipment around!
+Joe Pugh. I ordered the pump kit from deweze and made my own hoses and found an old hyd. tank off another truck. You can buy the electric over hyd. valve from northern tool.
Chevy's are THE BEST!!! Of the 8 cars we've owned in the past 44 years, only 2 were not Chevy's. The only reason I got the rid of the last one was because it got totaled on black ice on the highway. I'm still driving the 2003 Impala I got after that and it runs great. Best part is, it's been paid off for 10 years. Like Ann Landers always said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
great video just found youre channel glad i did i am from eastern ky i cut my own wood but if u were close by i would buy youre wood keep up the good work god bless
Another great one. BTW - is that a Back-Hoe attachment in front of the rock rake/bucket? Re: the old green truck, I agree with you. It still has a life. I'd guess you have a great attachment to it... it was your granddads, you learned a lot from it & with it, it doesn't cost you anything in your yard and it still has a life... Same as your F150 7.3D. I can relate - I'm an F150 fan too. Was my first truck @ 14 (F100 Fleet-side - 3 on the tree (also red LOL) 40 some yrs ago... 0On my 4th - 2015 XLT Extended Cab 4x4 (also Red - fav clr too!). It's an Aluminum Body though, thus a bit light (weight wise) for winter roads around here. So I carry 'bout 300 lbs sand in the back behind the wheels... Like all the videos thus far (back to 2012 or 2013) - both jobs. Nice to see the Mrs. and Jr with you some too. Keep them SAFE too. 👍 👍 👍 TTFN.
New Subscriber here. Really enjoying your videos! I mess with a lot of firewood too because I have a outside woodburner. Wish I had the setup that you have, sure would be easier on me. I am right outside of Clarksville and 58, straight shot to Meadows of Dan. Man, I love coming thru there when I am visiting all the towns in your area. My wife will not let me pass the candy factory without stopping! Alright let you go and looking forward to more videos!
Hey, I'm new to your channel, I've been here now a few days and enjoy it very much. I like air guns also, I have a Air Force Condor SS 22cal an a BSA r10 mrk2 in .177 with a day/night vision scope.
+Malcolm Connor. Awesome guns! I haven't had time to do any shooting lately unfortunately but when I do I'll try to make a video. Thanks for checking out my channel!
Cool. Do you know about what you get on a trailer load or do you just charge by the cubic yardage of your trailer or something like that? I imagine some customers stack the wood and kind of let you know how much is on a load and is there much difference between a loose load of 14 inch wood vs. 24 inch wood?
+Digby O'Dell. Yes it holds about 3/4 of a cord of 17inch wood. 24 inch wood is a little less but not much. I've been doing this for several years. You are right my customers let me know about how much is on there over the years. I sell it for $110 to $130 a load depending on the length shorter is more time consuming therefore it's more expensive.
I know I'm a bit late to the vid but I also love air guns. I have a airforce talon pcp .22 cal also a 3000 psi tank. biggest thing iv taken with it was a jack rabbit. I know I can take bigger judging by the size of the exit hole
got it figured out don't ya , that's the way to go , they say the less you handle it the better , yeah that rock blade is the trick , the trailer looks like about a quarter to half a cord , how much is the trailer load ? Put you a plastic life size owl in your barn where the birds are and it'll scare them away but it's not fun as shooting is it lol like your airguns , love the firewood truck too
You make it look easy but I guess it helps if you have the right equipment. I'm new to this so I was wondering what that trailer load like you had would cost? Down here in Florida prices seem to be less per cord. Do you sell by the cord or by the trailer load? Thanks.
That's an interesting operation you have there. looks like a contractors yard. I only see you, Do you operate that whole business?? I have a question about the wood delivery, is that 2 cord of wood?? looked like a good amount of firewood.I liked your rock attachment idea, made easy work of lifting and loading that fire wood. good thinkingOh, that pick up sounded awesome, hahaha, its a very impressive yard I have to say, you have my sincere respect and admiration.
Do you stack it for the customer? or just dump it? Or maybe I should watch the video all the way through. lol Nice video. I was thinking about starting to cut firewood for a extra source of income. I already have most of the equipment I would need. Do you do your own logging?
+Ben Bryan. My dad. We have a construction company called D.L. Harrell Construction. Check out some of my other videos and you will see some of it in action.
If you like air guns look up Blue Ridge Airguns, Verona, Virginia. They are into airguns calibers up to 45. You would like. Nathan the owner is a farmer who enjoyed airguns.
+Charles Bynum. Years of talking to the customers I sell the wood to. When I first started about 8 years ago I asked several poeple and measured there stacks of wood. And I always sell it as approximately x amount. Never had a complaint about the volume.
I don't know how many Cords of firewood I've split with an Axe a Sledge Hammer and wedges. I didn't appreciate what it was doing for me then wish I had a few cords to split today I need the exercise since I retired
So I checked around here my area Northern Ontario Canada and the asking is 75 to 90 dollars for what they call a single 16 inches wide x 48 inches high x ninety six inches long . It takes three of those to make a full cord . and it also now depends on if its hard maple or a mix . I also like your farm trailer , keep up the interesting videos
if you got a system and it works why change it and take that money right out of your pocket . I lust had to replace my 1983 chevy pick up cause the frame rotted through and broke it had over 750,000 miles on her it was a sad day !! But i didnt buy new i got 2011 chevy . well bud have a great day and shoot up them pigeons
+carl snow. Trucks are crazy expensive ride them till they can't ride not more. I got about 60 pigeons last year. I've got about 5 this year so far, not to many hanging out in my barn anymore. Haha
@@DLHFarms You might like listening to some Old and in the Way or Jerry Garcia Band, both offshoots of the Grateful Dead. My 2 year old boy loves seeing the equipment.
