Thanks for the info. Last year I spent some time taking fireworks shots. I used a shutter speed closer to 1 second. My trails weren't as long as yours. I did however, use multiple exposure mode and put more that one blast into the same photo.
Thanks for the tips. Does the lens affect the settings in terms of length of time the lens should stay open? have a 24-70mm f/4, 50mm 1.8 and hopefully soon to be delivered 70-180mm 2.8 on the 6ii. I dislike the blob reflection on the water would a VND 1-5, 6-9 or CLP help?
Im sure if you fired a hand held speedlight just before the curtain closes you would get a nice image of your children frozen while still getting the long trails of the fireworks. correct me if im wrong. I do this with sparklers and get my children to strike a pose after they have drawn there sparkler art then fire the speedlight.
