I finally found the perfect place to build the ultimate car guy compound. Tons of car parts, tools, and a motorcycle were left behind. So today we're going to sort through everything, throw a ton of stuff away, and start cleaning things up. A new house, a new shop, and a place to build cars better than ever before... but the house has some strange secrets of it's own.

JR talks about the perfect place to mount the TV wall, then goes on to put up the LEVRACK right in front of the TV wall and as icing on the cake, preventing one of the lifts going in where it was planned. I do enjoy the work on the shop, and it's always a plus to see your father work his magic.

I would suggest on your 4 plex boxes that one outlet is on one circuit and the other outlet is on a second circuit. That way you can plug two high amp draw tools into the same box and not have them on the same circuit.

You should have put a temporary alteration tag on that extension chord explaining the changes made to the plug. Glad nothing happened to you or your circuits. Love watching your videos.

Or spent a few bucks to make a M-F dongle with the wiring change in it so the extension cord isn't modified, then like you said, attach a tag explaining the wiring modification.

ZAP!! I've had to do "wrong" things as a temporary solution in stuff like mis-wiring something to fix someone else's "wrong", but dude... RED TAPE AND MARK IT! (one of the rare cases where "two wrongs DO make it right"...)

read the manual about how much refrigerant is stored in the outdoor coil because if enough is in there for a 15 ft lineset and u used 4ft ur way overcharged for the mini split sp u gotta hook up gauges while it's running and let some out for the pressure to match the outside temp that's specific to 410a ..

HP AND COMPAQ COMPUTERS was using the ecx screws in there pc`s way back in the 90`s and i could not get them out had to use a flat head driver

Thanks for helping further educate an old techie that somehow had missed learning about these ECX screw heads... I've encountered numbers of them and thankfully they've worked with my Phillips or straight bit screwdrivers but I'm going to be getting me some of these ECX tips! I will pass on clocking all my screws LOL, I'm one of those geeks that never even looks or notices at whether the screw heads are all aligned LOL. As long as they go in straight and they're tightened properly I could care less if all the little slots face the same way. It's a level of OCD I have not yet attained LOL.

When you finish wiring all those outlets be sure to label them and mark which breaker they originate from. It saves so much time and keeps someone from using a wrong or designated outlet.

Watch the electric power bill for the garage. If it is too high for your taste, consider condensing natural gas infrared heating tubes as an alternative.

Ow man i feel you about the adapter set, last day i needed a special tool, looked up the tool in the toolbox got a call put it aside. I couldn't find anymore ended up going to the hardware store pay 25 bucks for a new one. Finished the job, hey whats that, found the tool. I couldn't return the other cause i had taken it out of the package and used it. Now i got 2 tools i maybe use one of them once a year.

Square bits are properly known as Robertson bits. Invented by P. L. Robertson, a Canadian who got the patent first in Canada, the the US.

So when I had to emergency fix my window regulator in the rain on my Suburban, I stopped at Home Depot and I bought that exact screwdriver, which I now keep in my front door pocket... I remember opening that and expecting to see a star bit or something and seeing those and being like "what the heck are these?!!!" I rescue furniture for a living so I unfortunately I'm stuck with Flathead and Phillips for the most part, however I am glad to know what those bits were

Not boring at all! I never thought that watching someone do mundane stuff would be interesting; boy was I wrong ! My son’s father-in-law has to do the same thing with the screw head alignment. But you are right, it does look better and his FIL was also right. It just finishes off the job with a professional look.

@@WatchJRGo ummm.. mini splits come fully charged you just need to vacuum down the lines and open the valves... Also one multi head unit(dual 16k) would have been more than enough to run that place and would have saved you 1500 dollars or so..

My Electrician who I have known since he was a Little Boy is OCD too. He hooked a 50-amp circuit up for my Prevost Motor Home in its garage and he went through the whole motorhome lining everything up and the Big Garage. I asked how much is all that going to be extra. He said Nothing. Just shaking my head but it looks good. Your Dad is one Cool Smart Fella. Still waiting on a Road Trip to your Lake House for a Fishing Vacation. It will be like a Weekend at Bernies. LOL...... BTW you need an Outside Shower.

Also that drain that ur running out tye back of that head is gonna fresh if exposed to elements so I might wanna find the kit that hvac guys use that conceals the lineset ..

I noticed you said a few times that the mini splits need "charged", Im sure you already know this, but the outdoor units are pre charged for a 25 ft line set. The line sets/indoor units do need to be vacuumed, ideally with a micron gauge.

Because time gets away, and nothing is more permanent than a temporary solution, I probably would have busted out the Brother label maker and put all sorts of warnings to future me on the shady re-wiring done on the plug.

Hey JR make sure those mini splits work in low ambient temp, if not they won't heat in 32 degree below also they should be on mini split stand or hanging off ur building to keep the snow out of that fan or water in that area floods . Just some hvac tips also gets some thread locker for them fittings and torque to the right specs they will leak if not and u will lose the refrigerant , the thread locker is specific to the hvac trade , it's not the tape or putty kind so don't use those...

The thread locker you refer to is called Nylog. Great stuff, you can get it at any supply house or on the "A" site. WD 40 is a bad idea as it will contaminate the refrigerant.

As a Canadian, I feel the need to provide the accurate name for "square" screws. They are called Robertson screws. The big ones are know as red and the smaller are green. #redrobbie #themoreyouknow

The white PDM mini split line set insulation is know to cause leaks if not sealed correctly. When in contact with moisture the foam breaks down and eats at the copper. Think all manufacturers say you need to seal if with insulation tape or silicone.

Your wiring story confirms my caution when ever I have to work on any building wiring or equipment that I didn't Install, you can't trust anyone's work to be 100% safe, hacks and short cuts can be lethal, if you do hack something find a way to mark it with a warning ⚠️

I do propane for a living. Do not put anything on those flared brass fittings!! It will seal just fine when you go to tighten the nut. It’s exactly the same thing here!

Just having rewired a 70's house...slotted is still a million times worse that phillips. All the outlets and switches were still 100% slotted.

Looks good! Minor setbacks will happen, just have to deal with them as they pop up.. I think your plan to have all of the different types of outlets installed is forward thinking and genius level planning. You mentioned the TV wall, my question do you have enough height space for a forklift accessible storage loft. above the LEVRACK? Amazing shop!

It may be a Square-D panel but it's a Home-Line panel. I asked questions about this whole electric setup from last video. He was kind enough to reply to my concerns about the load on that panel out there. It's a sub panel fed from the house. He said he was going to upgrade that house service. Personally I think that shop needs it's own service.

funny once you get everything moved it that shop is going to feel small. But you don't need a super big space anyway. What about plumbing? No wash sink? No water or washing cars? When I had a small garage like you we just ran a hose from the house spicket into the cold water side of a service sink. Was good enough for what we did and the drain dumped into a dry well.

If you do a TV wall that's 2x2, you'll have the bezels crossing horizontally and vertically right in the middle of the combined screen. Might look better to do 3x3.
