The fact that you guys are still out here making games that live up to your legacy without being cynical reboots is honestly inspiring; especially considering the rout so many other developers and franchises have gone.
It's good to see that even after 25 years and a very insidious industry Cyan is still independent and in it for the game rather than the money. Keep doing what you do best guys :)
I still got my Macintosh LC575 that my dad got for the family in 2001 and the previous owner must’ve forgotten that they had left a CD in it. I still remember first playing Myst and being absolutely MESMERISED by your AMAZING HyperCard game. It would’ve been the same year when I first tried HyperCard and made some adventures in b&w myself!!! (only had HyperCard 2.0 at the time with no colour support)..
The level of texture and detail is really interesting. You guys are my benchmark for esoteric architecture and world building. I love how steam/iron punk this looks yet really airy and environmental to balance
Hey Cyan! I remember playing Myst when i was 3 years old with my dad and ever since then, your worlds have captivated my imagination and help create the way my imagination works. I'm 21 now and am still in love with the worlds you built and loved Obduction! I get so much nostalgia from seeing these videos and brings me great joy to see that you are still active and creating worlds for me to explore now as an adult! I cannot wait for Firmament and Zed and will definitely be buying both of them! Thank you for keeping my childhood alive!
I'm in my 30's now and grew up playing Myst with my dad and absolutely fell in love with Riven (curse your 6 marbles for a 5 marble puzzle. I spent so long getting trolled by that) You guys are still independent and still doing what you love. That's incredible.
@@Cyan-Official A younger me who didn't appreciate fps games and just wanted to explore, has more appreciation than older me can put into words. In a world of remakes and cheap sequels, Cyan continues to make new and different worlds that have not dropped one iota of quality, adventure, and wonder. Thank you so very much! And as long as Cyan makes games, I will contine to explore them all!
So I see an interview talking about a game I studied in Year 3 to practice creative writing and I see a clip about a new game they're making and I think, "I love that old game, such fond memories, I gotta check out this new one." Then I see the gameplay and my Index owning, steam-punk loving, fantasy admiring, puzzle enthusiast mind was blown. I can't wait to back this.

1:19 Looks similar to the pattern on the Myst library ceiling. You can google images it. So from the other trailer we got that that this worlds are probably called firmaments that they are in a state of decay to the point of almost collapse (hangs by a thread). They're purpose is to maintain life from hostile environs or antagonists. (Latin phrase used). Might be a colony ship or colony base with glass domes that are the worlds. There was mention of an arrival which could mean an arrival from others or they're arrival elsewhere. It's a project that is generational. All the cryogenics are in the cold firmament probably for obvious reasons but there seems to be firmaments that are for different functions. 2:57 series shows one seems to be industry firmament. There is one where the land masses have rocks that demonstrate a higher sea level that has declined and eroded the rocks. Perhaps a water storage firmament. Maybe the moral (and I would be shocked if there wasn't one) is that that they all died out because they were all playing VR too much. That would be a make you think moral.
Wow, looks cool! Imagine how cool it would be to see Myst (maybe the whole serie), Obduction and maybe in the future Firmament coming to the Nintendo Switch. I mean Myst happened before on the Nintendo DS and 3DS :) Thanks for all the good old memories especially URU Ages beyond Myst, and the original Myst. played them with my dad
Being sequestered at home during the Corona virus pandemic has prompted me and my husband to duel on separate computers the games of Obduction that we found from you. We haven't played any video games since Myst and Riven, wow, we are so enjoying Obduction and hope to explore Firmament as well. All of you at Cyan are awesome. Keep it up.
Wish I knew about this when the kickstarter campaign was still active... Beat Myst when I was 15 on PC, and Riven when I was 18 on Sega CD. BTW, loved the ending of Myst and ended up reading the novels as well.
I missed out on the kickstarter but I'll be buying it day 1 for sure! I just finished Myst VR and you guys did a great job reworking it. Now I'm going to replay Obduction in VR since I've only played the flat version. Thanks for all the memories!

As a big fan of Myst, I'm really, really excited about this game. Even if we don't know much about the narrative, the atmosphere seems amazing, and brings back the first time, when I started Myst, not even knowing what I was doing, just enjoying the mystery. Your games always manage to take me into a new universe, and get lost in a new story.
I was worried it was going to be VR-only. Thank you for allaying that fear. I can't wait; I grew up with MYST, and discovered the subsequent titles around the time Myst IV: Revelation was coming out. I'm now a proud owner of all the Myst titles, and am looking forward to expanding my collection of CYAN games. Thanks for all the fun, adventures and puzzles so far. They've kinda been a highlight to my life over the past 26 years.
I just finished obduction and it was amazing. I would love to see a book like how you did for myst due to the backstory it has. I’m a mechanical minded person, so the steampunk style of you mind blowing experience (not a game) is what I look for. I can’t wait for this next installment of the CYAN experience and worlds. Keep up the great work as you guys are the gods of these worlds.

I know Myst was groundbreaking at the time and has been re-released many times over the years. My peak for the Myst series was Riven, wondering if that will ever be remastered as well.
Guys, you are the best!! Grown up with Myst, Riven and all the awesome sequels... And i'm so happy about Obduction and now this, a new masterpiece of art, gameplay and design. Thank you very much, keep on going!
Anything, but please keep this true to gaming. IE, do not send this game to an exclusive that binds us to enter into a contract with a group that then spies on our computers and uploads a ton of information online like Epic does. Again, anything, even the VR orientation of the game, but not that. Aside from that, my trust in your creative skills and world building and story building is unshattered since ages ago when i played the Myst game.

Awesome! I absolutely loved Obduction (and all the Myst games), I definitely look forward to this. No VR yet, I need something I can afford first. But, I may start saving up for it just for your games.

I played Obduction in VR and if you allow me on suggestion that would be: Make teleportation maximum range bigger. (That way you till has the space and hide potential interesting stuff but the player can cross it faster if he wants. (backtracking is mandatory in this game and just to pass an empty hallway took 4 teleportation is tedious)
I'm hoping the VR support means there's going to be fewer "you're completely fucked if you didn't plan out your next fifty actions on a piece of notebook paper" puzzles than Obduction. There's nothing more frustrating than being super into the story and setting than realizing you've gotten something wrong for the tenth time and every attempt requires twenty minutes of walking your slow ass across three different maps. Like if we're going to accept the conceit of not being able to just pile up items and climb over a wall or rip wires out of a machine you have to give a little something in return.
I'm already a backer and I'm hoping and praying that there will be no timed puzzles in the game. I still have not completed Myst IV because of that darned timed vibrating crystal puzzle.
Just Please make make that hand an option for beige just like the original MYST cursor instead of that surgical glove green. Or several different colors like M4

Come on Ubisoft, EA , Bethesda or any publisher . Give Cyan 100 million to make this the best game ever. They are worth it ! Myst is legendary and we the people are sick and tired from shooters and rpg's. Firmament can be a game changer for a new generation. And for the "old" generation like me.
@Gaming Miser I'm not a fan of publishers either but it seems Cyan need the money. The graphics for Firmament should be top notch, not like Obduction. A license for such an engine alone cost a lot of money. The black and white games you mentioned were based on Apple hyper card, it's what was available at the time and what they based their games on. Hypercard was free and part of system 7. Myst, Riven and Exile were based on it like the whole point and click genre. Firmament will probably the last "Myst" game the Rand bros make and I hope it'll be awesome !
Myst and Riven were only the way they were BECAUSE of hardware limitations (it was the best they could do with really ancient tech) Please check out REALMYST wish someone would do a REALRIVEN

@@fr33kSh0w2012 What?! Both Unity and Unreal are fantastic engines, both with pros and cons. Just because a small team was able to make something awesome in Unity, doesn't mean they couldn't also do the same in Unreal.
omg i hope your guys launch this!! i just finished the myst series all over again for the gazilionth time, just finished the uru live story as well and hanging out there now, obduction was gorgeous and this one is making me jump on the ceiling with excitement!!! you guys have always been by far the creators i most love of any kind of game out there. The art and story and music you put into everything is beyond magical and amazing. I cant get enough ! ♥
