Hi. I have bought the dvd’s from audi dealership as wel as optic fibre loop. In insert the dvd and it recognizes everything but on all the updates is says N instead of S/Y. So it won’t update anything. When I try push on “start download” it immediately gives me error: “no devices selected for updating”. I cannot select them manually either. Hope you can help me with this. It is an audi a8 d3 from 2004 with mmi 2g high with software version 0835 so it’s not like it’s not neccesary.
Hi , thanks alot you helped me repair my mistake of stupiditly bootloader, but i have a small problem which is i had reverse camera fitted by previuous owner which now doest work anymore :( , also central locking an other many options does not work , i did install eu 2g version and the car is a4 2008 2.7 with bang oulfesen system , but i didnt install the bluetooth and telephone update , should i do that ?
Installing the second update shouldn't be necessary. Most likely these additional options where coded before and will need to be recoded again. Central locking specifically has nothing to do with the MMI so that is a separate issue. For starters I would recommend having the vehicle scanned for errors and take it from there.

Hello! finally a super video! I have an Audi Q5. 2009 vintage. how to update mmi and navigation? Hnav_EU_K0022_2_D1 8R0060884C_ECE 5.6.8 same as the video? or is it different? Thx...
Your car being a 2009 has the MMI 3G High, meaning it will be a bit different from the video, because it doesn't use CDs for the firmware, but the concept is still the same. You will need an SD card formatted in FAT32 on which will put the corresponding to your vehicle files from the download links I have shared. Put in the SD card in the slot in your car and from there the update will need to be initialized the same way as you see it in the video.
Hi my name is Terrance I watched your video and it was very informative I recently bought the same car and I have to get the navigation cd to get my navigation to work as well as upgrading my MMI Display and I heard on your video that you was gonna pick someone to give those 4 CD'S away too so if you still have those CD'S then I would appreciate it so so so very very much if you could choose me to be the one that wins those CD'S so if you are still planning on giving them away then please please please keep me in mind and if I was the one to get them then after I am done using them I was thinking that I could do the same as you did with them and pass them on to another fellow Audi owner that is in need of the same 4 CD'S I'll let you get back to what you was doing but thank you so much for your time and for this great and very helpful video and hope you have a great afternoon thanks
Hi Terrance, those CDs have been given away a long time ago, but in the video description I have linked all of the necessary files for anyone to create their own CDs.
Hi! First of all I wanted to thank you for your work and help. I have some doubts and I would like them to solve me... Surely it has already been commented on in the more than 600 comments, but it has been impossible for me to read them all...: *) You can update with these CDs from a very old original version (03.60)...??? Or do you have to start from 11.10...??? *) My equipment is DSP with original amplifier, it is necessary to disconnect the optical fiber so that it is not damaged...??? Thank you very much, greetings
@@argutilas You will need to start from the first CD (CD1), which will bring your very old version to 5150. From there you can use CD3 to upgrade to 5570. Unless you have Bluetooth telephony, you don't need to use CD2 at all. Regarding the AMP fiber optic looping, you will need to do it if you have the upgraded BOSE or B&O AMPs.
@@EndlessMotorWorks Hello, thank you very much for everything again. I don't have bluetooth (I think), and I don't have a bose amplifier, or b & o audio. I have the DSP sound only. I will use CD1 and CD3, as you have told me, and I will not perform the fiber optic bridge. I hope everything goes well, being such an old version (03.60) I was a little afraid that it would not support the update. They almost always announce that you have to start with version (11.10) I will comment on the result here. Thank you. Greetings!
Got an Audi A4 B8 2011, with Audi Concert, HW H06, SW 0350. I guess that is a G3 Low/Basic. I bought an AMI Bluetooth adapter what not showing any sign of life after I plugged into. There is any software update can help me? My goal will be to be able to stream music from my iPhone. Cheers
As I am not super familiar with that model year, first and most importantly, do you have MMI with navigation or just normal Concert? As far as I know, streaming music through AMI Bluetooth isn't available on cars that don't have MMI with navigation. From what I see there is an adapter which some people have been using - tune2air and have had success with it.
will this work in a 2009 a4 quattro with the symphony system. no nav or b/o. Canadian car the info car says is hw- h02 sw- 0211? besides the radio and display # which are above the hw and sw # thanks
Audi a6 c6 f42 from 2006 the problem is the navigation does not find the satellites although everything is functional and does not show any error in vcds. I suspected that the gps antenna was gone, I tried with 4 other antennas without success, so the antenna jumps out of the diagram to be defective! I was left with no idea if anyone who could be the cause of this problem could enlighten me. MMI 2g was updated two months ago to the latest version available for this, it went well until 3 days ago when it started showing me somewhere in the field even though I was on the road!
@@EndlessMotorWorks after the update it worked for about 2 months but since the weather came, the rain and it's cloudy no longer finds satellites. I don't know the pure coincidence or the navigation burned
Check, the video description for firmware for your model and year vehicle. Update process for the MMI 3G is the same as for the MMI 2G with the exception that instead of CDs you use an SD card.
Hello, great Video! Wanna pls ask a Question: My A8 4.0Tdi (2005) does not display the current vehicle speed in the middle screen like later models . Is there a way to unlock it? Thx in adv
There is, but it will need to be coded in through VCDS. I haven't personally done that myself, as my car already has that feature so I cannot tell exactly how it is done. Still, there should be a guide somewhere on the various Audi forums.
hello mate, how should i burn the files from eastern europe maps?i did it once and after i plugged it in car its says 12 % pregression from the beginning and its says after that ,dvd error check dvd please help
Burn the files on a high quality DVD disk at the slowest speed possible. Windows does have a built in CD/DVD burner, but if this doesn't work for you, you can also try Nero (there is a free version of it).
@@EndlessMotorWorks so I just download the file exactly how it is and I burn it on a quality dvd and from there it should work? Can you give me the link again please for the maps?
This happens also when the wrong files are used for your vehicle. Are you downloading the correct ones for your specific model, MMI version and region?
No, it won't. The Bluetooth on the Audi A6 C6-generation regardless if it MMI 2G or MMI 3G is for telephony only. There is no music streaming via Bluetooth. You will need to have AMI with a compatible Bluetooth module in order to stream music.

HELLO, i have 2007 Q7 MMI 2G VERSION 22.0.0 and i would like to update. i have basic AMP and i do not know if i got to loop because you talked about BOSE. When i tried to update with cd 1 "AMP " was in the list of device so i canceled the install and keep running to my keyboards Also what new features i ll get with this upload ? can i directly with vcds unlock the green menu ? Thanks
From the version MMI version your vehicle seems that it is currently running a North American firmware. However the updates that I have provided for the MMI 2G are for Europe only. I searched everywhere for the American firmware but it has been pretty much taken down from everywhere due to copy-right. You can try and update the firmware with the EU version anyway, but I cannot guarantee that it will work out. The other option is to find a seller that has the correct update CDs for your region. Regarding the AMP, if it is just the basic one (not Bose or B&O) it should be fine without the fiberoptic loop. Green menu can be unlocked with VCDS. I haven't done this on my car so I cannot tell you how to do it step-by-step. Still, there are several forum threads on the various Audi forums describing how to do that in length. Changelog for the updates: Europe 5150, USA 3360, Russia 5540 : - AMI iPod compatibility - AMI support for ACC and WAV files over USB - Bluetooth handsfree fixes Europe 5570, USA 4610, Russia 6030 : - Convenient switching between media sources. - Fixed for amplifier, TV tuner, MP3 CD changer, head unit.
From the interior i think you have an s6 5.2 like me - very special and fun car but get ready to solve: coolant leak ,battery that goes down every 7-8 days that you no longer use the machine (deactivate bluetooth under the seat) ,engine light that will look like the christmas lamp that turns on and off when she wants water will come in from the rear window. an acknowledged audi defect that will damage your amplifier, mmi no longer works fm because it will go into component protection, defect adaptive light .I have listed the most frequent things that happened to our colleagues in possession of the audi s6, best regards from italy👌🏻
Damn dude, you pretty much summarized every issue the S6 currently has, except for the water coming from the rear window onto the amp (I had cleaned the drains for the sunroof in anticipation of winter season). However, besides that, everything you listed is an ongoing problem. Due to the weather (it has been snowing for the past several days) and the virus, I don't really have the possibility to work on the car as much as I wanted. Hope the weather will be better next month and allow for some repairs to be done.

Hello, so glad i found your video. It's been so helpful. HOwever, both my PC and Mac laptops show your NA files as corrupted. Can I update my NA Q7 with the European update discs without any damage? Thanks
Hi, the files are not corrupted, just need to follow the instructions. There are other people who in the comments explain in even more detail how to get burn the files properly. Just fyi, it is not possible to install European software on a vehicle that is from another region, as the car will not be able to read it.
Hello, thank you for your useful sharing. I have a problem, there is no problem with the european version file, but the usa file is incorrectly corrupted, can you help?
@@cenkniksarl6478 The NA download file is corrupt for me too. Did you find another download anywhere else? Or can we update our NA cars with the European update discs?
Здрасти, ще пиша на английски, да може и други които се чудят да разберат. Do you get Bluetooth audio (music player) after you update the MMI software? It would be great if I can play music via Bluetooth…
No, in these early Audi vehicles Bluetooth audio playback is not supported. The integrated Bluetooth is for telephony (taking calls) only. If you want Bluetooth audio you will need to have AMI with a Bluetooth interface.
Thank you thank you thank you. It works, but to explain some simple things to people for whom the method did not work through my experience with it, 1. After downloading the files, you must decompress them, copy them to an excellent CD, you must copy the files of Disk 1, then decompress the second file, and copy the compressed file 1 as it is. Because you will not be able to disassemble it and download it on one disk, and then it will be completed with you with ease. The update on my car A4 B8 took 5 minutes and I did not lose any sound and everything works in the correct and smooth way and also the control became faster than before, and thanks to the hero who wrote the video, had it not been for him, I would have lost a lot of money.
The links in the description "Audi MMI 2G High Navigation Maps (Eastern Europe) & Audi MMI 2G High Navigation Maps (Western Europe)" are they the latest official 2018 updates or the modified 2019 without TMC?

MMI 3G+ uses a different firmware than the MMI 3G High. So the software from the links is not going to be able to be flashed on your vehicle. Unfortunately I do not have the firmware for the A6 C7 to provide you with.
Hello, thank you again for the replies. I will try and burn the Navigation file once more and try. failing that, i will look to upgrade the MMI 2g to google/apple play.....
Needs to be burned om a good quality disk. Also just to make sure you are actually inserting it into the nav computer in the trunk. I have seen some people try putting it in the CD changer, that won't work. Making the MMI 2G work with android auto / apple carplay isn't as complicated as it seems. Just need to have a fiber optic module that would allow for this connected. Seen some stuff on ebay, but haven't yet pulled the trigger on it.
I have a q7 2006. Its stuck on bootloader . Thr CD changer works i used a vertabim dics as it was told is the best. In terms of the my issue its saying it failed to find metainfo on the mmi screen but on the cd1 i inserted it into my PC i only was only able to find metainfo2 on the file.
Make sure you are downloading the proper files for your vehicle as they are region-specific. If you try to install a firmware that is not made for your vehicle's region the update will fail with the metainfo not found error. Also make sure you are not extracting the image into the disc, but rather burning the image itself.

Hi, I am in Australia and am pretty sure I have ROW A6 C6 2007. The MMI in the car is MMI 2G 51.5.0 which of the links below do I use to get the latest update. ROW is only referred to in the 3G updates. Thanks in Advance
Version 5150 is for the EU firmware. Therefore, you will need to download the firmware for MMI 2G for EU, more specifically CD3, which will bring you from 5150 to version 5570, which is the latest one available.
The MMI 3G Basic and High are very different. It is not just that one has a bigger colored display. The modules and everything is completely different. Therefore, it is normal for the firmware update for the MMI 3G High not to work the for the Basic. On this note, I also don't have the files for updating any of the Basic MMI (2G or 3G). These files are very rare, as updating these lower end multimedia systems doesn't really bring any meaningful extra functionality.
Hello, I have got an A5 2011, i do have the Bluetooth function but for calling only, if I download disk 2 could I then stream music from my phone? And also is any car capable of the latest MMI?
Vehicles from 2011 should already be using the MMI 3G, which updates through an SD card. If you decide to upgrade the firmware make sure you use the correct one for your vehicle and region. To answer your question regarding the Bluetooth - no. Mi both the MMI 2G and 3G Bluetooth is for telephony only and doesn't support music playback. If you want to be able to play music through Bluetooth you will need to have an AMI (Audi Music Interface) -equipped vehicle and buy the appropriate Bluetooth adapter for it.
Elaboration: I can burn update on blank cds, it's when I try to load into car is when the mmi says error can't find directory. Try again. I have mmi 2g high. Can I just buy the disc's from you. I will pay for shipping!
Sorry to hear you are having issues, but I can't sell you the CDs as I am not in that kind of business. How are you burning the CDs? Are you putting in the correct files for your vehicle and region?

Hello mate. Thank you for your contribution to this matter. I tried to update my MMI 2G software but it was not reading the CD. It was saying I quote: "Drive error! Metainfo cannot be analysed!" Then below that was saying try again and cancel. I tried several times like that but it came the same text on the screen. Can you please tell me if I can do something to fix this problem. And my Audi A6 AMP is ASK. Do I need to loop the AMP when I try and update my software which is 3460 version? And last, the DVD ROM that reads the navigation, doesn't read the DVDs that I donwloaded from this tutorial, it says Check your navigation DVD, while with the original DVD it works. Thank you for your understanding and support.
From what you are describing I think you might be having some issues with the actual CDs that you are using. Some other people have had issues with random CDs as well. I have had most success with CDs from Verbatim and Sony so I would recommend that you try burning the software to one of these discs and trying again. Please also make sure that you have downloaded the appropriate software version for your MMI and vehicle.
This error usually appears if the firmware has been messed around with (it is not an official version). Not sure how to resolve it except for completely wiping the existing firmware and starting over. I don't recommend this as you run the risk of bricking your MMI.
Hello sir I was wondering where you got the CDs for this update. I have no idea where to get them and if you can provide the address I would truly truly appreciate you very much. I just bought the car and I don't have any of the extra benefits of my mmi system. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Dawn S.
Thanks for your Video :) Maybe u can help me, i have the A6 4F (2005) with the telephone holder in the middle. Do I need the CD2? Because I dont have Bluetooth. Best regards
I used the image burner that comes with Windows 10. The main issue with CDs not being read is either CD itself is not good quality or there is some issue with your CD changer. The CDs with which I have had the most success are Verbatim and Sony. Some of the others have been hit or miss.

I don't have the firmware update files for the monochrome 2G Basic MMI. The files I have linked will not work, as they are for a completely different MMI type.
Hi, currently my MMI is displaying the bootloader screen so I am unable to use the MMI. I've seen online on people saying that I need to just put the firmware disc in. Now I have burned these ISOs to a CD at the slowest speed, and the files are all there, however, on the screen, it searches for the Metainfo file, then says No Metainfo file found. I've made another copy of CDs with trying to alter the filename from Metainfo2 to Metainfo but it is still throwing the same message. Mine is a 2007 Audi A6 with 2G High. The current version of it is 5570. Any suggestions please?.....
If you currently are on version 5570, you will only need to use the last CD. Also make sure you are downloading the one for Europe. 5570 is an European firmware, so this is what you need to be using.

The firmware updates are region specific and for the MMI 2G they are European specs vehicles only. I wasn't able to find the files for the other regions. For the MMI 3G there are two types of files, ones are for Europe, the others are for Rest of World. No, it will not fix it. Based on the described symptom, most probably the fix of the amp has triggered CP (Component Protection). You will need to go to the dealer and have it removed.
From what I have seen the issue mentioned in the video mostly happens on cars with Bose audio, but I personally would still advise to do the loop for good measure.
Hello, great video and explanation !. Question, do I need to create a fibre loop to upgrade the map in the MMI 2g system? (the new DVD is not liked by MMI : "Check dvd")

Or will I still need to have the 2nd hand amp that I buy decoded? Also how can I find out if my current (not working) MMI is the 2G or 3G version?
If your car is a 2007 that means it is before the facelift and you have the MMI 2G. You will need to have the MMI and the amp coded after you transfer all of the necessary components from the donor car. There is no other way around it.
Thank you for the guide, ran into a glitch hoping you can help me solve. Sorry mate, but I don't have any experience with your vehicle generation so I can't say for certain. My advice is to go on the Audi forum and put your question there. I am sure there are quite a few knowledgeable people that will be able to help you out. :)
The Bluetooth module in the C6 generation Audi is not capable of music playback, you can only use it for calls. You can get one on Ebay, but you will most likely need someone to install it and code it for you.

There are a lot of things that might be causing this. Did you download the correct files for your car? Do you have the proper files for your MMI version? Does your CD changer work? How did you burn the files exactly? Also, please do bear in mind the files for the MMI upgrades are mostly for Europe and some also apply to the US. They are not the same as for cars from other regions. If you are from Australia, there is a good chance there is a specific version for your region and you will need to find and download it.

The sat nav for MMI 2G works with DVDs. So you will need to burn the maps to a DVD disk and insert that in the navigation computer. Once that is done and you turn on the car you will get a message on the MMI stating that new maps have been detected and prompting you to update. Just click yes on that. After a couple of minutes you are all set. For the MMI 2G there are no newer versions of the maps. Audi discontinued the support with the 2018-2019 version.
Hi. Do you know if I can update from 2G up to 3G .? I have audi q7 American version with 46.1.0. What kinds of possibilities are? Or some links if you have to buy update. Thank you 😊
The MMI 2G and MMI 3G are physically different MMI systems. Therefore, you cannot upgrade from 2G to 3G by flashing software. If you want to do this upgrade there are kits that are sometimes being sold on Ebay and they include all of the necessary components. It is quite a job to make it all work though as you will need to disassemble the entire front dash and probably also run new wiring from the navigation in the trunk to the front of the car.
I have an Audi 2007 A6 4.2 . My CD player is skipping, I looked it up to discover it be fixed with a software update. My question is would the upgrade work in the CD changer if its skippng?
If the CD player is skipping there is a good chance the update might not work out. You can try to open it up and clean the lens, as that is the usual culprit for skipping. If it is still the same I would recommend taking it to someone to diagnose and repair or simply find a working used CD changer.
