I had the same reaction the first time I tried one of them 2 summers ago. It’s a wild experience. Love that it can open so many ways of riding to people who may be hesitant or have some knee/hip joint issues that prevents them from riding. I was out at Morgan Hill to help train teachers for Outride’s Riding for Focus program. We had the opportunity to ride some of Specialized’s new bikes. One of the teachers was hesitant to take one out. They suggested one of the pedal assist. She was flying back to the hotel. We all had to pace line behind her to keep up. She was so pumped to be able to ride. That’s when I realized the rad appeal of this type of bike. Thanks for making this video!

Ebikes are such game changers. I rode for decades , road bikes and MTBs. I'm 60 now , have a titanium hip and no desire to suffer on hill climbs anymore. Ive had a personal riding Renaissance building up sweet diy resto mods. Right now Ive got a sweet Kona Hozo ST 29er E and a Kona WO fat E. I love them like I loved my Ritchey and Gios road bike back in the 80s. I don't know if Id be riding if it werent for sweet electrified bikes.

These things are addictive, right? Im picking up a Trek Rail 9.7 soon. I put off an ebike for a couple years and finally a friend wore me down and had me ride his. Wow! I still enjoy riding my “analog” gravel bikes but this is something so fun and different and you can double or triple your mileage on gnarly singletrack. The best part of it is, it rewards you the harder you work.

I used an e-bike to get around SF for about a year. Yeah it is cheating, but it was nice to show up places non sweaty. Also it was nice to have an extra 300 watts or so when biking around the city at night, if stuff got shady I could get on outta there super quick. I still rode regular bikes for fun and fitness though :)

@@EverythingsBeenDone You need to start playing with the app to get the power settings the way you want. You can make all the modes work for you. If they didn't come in the box, get and install the power remote buttons. They are a game changer. I have them under the rubber on the inside of brake/shift levers. With them, you essentially have two sets of gears. You can then use turbo for a steep incline and then no power for the descent without taking your hands off the bar.

Honestly I don't film with it because it feels strange to power when riding with folks who are slower then I am. Plus there is a sound that is annoying and feels odd when your buddies are struggling and you are just E biking along. BUT I do ride this thing ALL THE TIME for commuting. really helps make then more efficient.

I really curious, how is the electric motor works? you need to pedal first till certain mph then the motor kicks in and you still need to push pedal and most of workload will be done with the motor? And with battery mode, how many MPH you can get if you also keep pedaling?
