100% of the hammer price goes to Operation Homefront. The car will be about $150k. The rest will be a charitable tax write off for Rick Hendrick. GM will donate the rest. As for it not being “common sense”, I will disagree with you. Since it is a tax write off, he is not just “overpaying” for the car. He makes so much money that he would need to donate to charity to reduce his tax burden either way. May as well get a car at the same time. It will hold its value pretty well as a VIN 001 car either way. Hardly a bad investment or “more money than brains” situation.

@@SupercarRanch correct, he's probably in the 40% tax bracket... This will bring down his tax burden by about 1.5 million dollars. Being Vin 0001 will certainly allow this vehicle and the 2020 hold their value.

Actually you're wrong Chevys are damn good built vehicles a lot better than a Ferrari. Ferraris or a piece of junk they break down all the time and stuff costly breaks because they're cheap made I know people that have them not to mention the fact that they don't have enough of them sold for them to be able to work the bugs out Chevy does. This is very common to auction off a first car of a certain kind for charity. Ford also actioned 3 cars and Toyota 1. All went for big money. Every dollar over MSRP goes to charity. The winning bidder also gets to write off the amount over msrp as a charitable donation. So if they plan on donating anyway, this is a great way to do it and get a car along the way.

This is what people in the Middle East will pay for a license plate.

It's not even a ZR1. And by the way in 2006 my dad bought a 1996 10 year old Corvette ZR1 for less than $32,000 with less than 5,000 original miles. Corvettes are not expensive. But for these people to be stupid enough to pay $4 million for a fucking car. I could live the rest of my life three times on that kind of money. How stupid. You got people going hungry and they're going to blow their money on a fucking car. Some people got no fucking brains. If he wants a charity I'll be happy to let them donate that money to me I'll be happy to take it. But that's the problem with rich people they don't give to charity they only do it if they get something in return.
