This was very enlightening as it pertains to social media and embracing only those opinions which I already agree with. Well I will educate myself more and admit freely that I am embarrassed by my own ignorance. Thank you for sharing this information and adding some insight to these great historical arguments for freedom and reason . This really , really hits home with me and has exposed something within me to myself ! I guess I ignored the obvious in order to stay within my own comfort zone. How can we have any meaningful speech without dissent? And without the knowledge from the other opinion how can we even have any faith in our own opinions? I can't explain it but this has sparked a flame within me to learn more and to know the truth as seen through many eyes and never just my own.

There is an inaccuracy in this video. Justice Brandeis did not write a dissenting opinion but a concurring opinion in Whitney v. California (1927).

I was thinking about how the US Constitution was amended in terms of the voting and other procedural matters. Now I understand that the amendments were more of the substance in the arguments that made for a better union respecting the rights of others.

I genuinely hate how so many Americans believe that a 225 year old document, the length of a tweet, gives them the right to go where they want, say what they want, to whoever they want and face no consequences, and that right (despite being an amendment) cannot be updated in any way.

We need a 101 education program for all of our constitutional amendments.

Great information, unfortunately, the schools have diminished the teaching of civics and government. We have witnessed how law enforcement know very little about the first amendment and bully the citizens. We need to encourage the schools to teach government and civics if we want to preserve democracy.

On October 27, 2023 Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia approached me holding his service rifle in the down ready to raise and fire position in an illegal unethical attempt to coerce me to remove the Pacific County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) from my Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade Facebook post because he did not want the PCSO included with the other law enforcement agencies that I witnessed providing security for the Gay Pride Parade event on June 25, 2023. I had parked my truck near the intersection of Stauffer Road and Barley Lane in a safe out of the way location and I had gotten out of my truck and started to take photos of the law enforcement officers congratulating each other at a safe distance from their location at the end of a high speed vehicle chase scene where a murder suspect wanted for a murder in another county had already been taken into custody. I noticed Sheriff Garcia walk away from the group of law enforcement officers on Barley Lane through the corner houses landscaped front yard and out the driveway in what looked like an attempt to avoid me or to avoid having his photo taken. Sheriff Garcia then crossed Stauffer Road where he stopped to talk to a group of people that had gathered to see what was going on. There was no further threats to the public or law enforcement officers that made it necessary to have a service rifle deployed in the hands of a law enforcement officer in the down and ready to raise and fire position. All of the other more experienced law enforcement officers employed with the Pacific County Sheriff's Office, Raymond Police Department, and South Bend Police Department that were on scene had already put their long guns (rifles and or shotguns) back into their vehicles or were in the process of doing so when I arrived near the scene and parked a safe distance away. Sheriff Daniel Garcia then approached me with his service rifle in the down ready to raise and fire position and tried to coerce me with implied deadly force to change my Facebook post about the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade by telling me I was mistaken and that I had not seen a Pacific County Sheriff's Deputy providing security at the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade even though I tried to explain to him that is what I had witnessed. Then Under Sheriff Mike Ray came over and agreed with Sheriff Garcia and said I was mistaken and I must have been confused and they would appreciate it if I could change my Facebook post to not include the Pacific County Sheriff's Office as one of the law enforcement agencies that provided security for the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade that occurred on June 25, 2023. I was alone in a dark area with the two highest ranking law enforcement officers employed by the Pacific County Sheriff's Office, one of which was Sheriff Garcia who was holding his service rifle in the down ready to raise and fire position telling me I needed to change my Facebook post to not include the Pacific County Sheriff's Office as one of the law enforcement agencies I witnessed at the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade providing security. I told them Ok and I would see what I could do and then I was given access to the scene to take photos of the stolen vehicle that the murder suspect used in the high speed chase. I asked for a law enforcement escort to go with me while I was in the crime scene so no other law enforcement officers would come up to me holding their firearms ready to shoot me like Sheriff Garcia had just done in order to coerce me to change my Facebook post. I went home and looked through the photos I took of the Gay Pride Parade to see if I took any photos of the PCSO Deputy that was at 3rd and Duryea Streets providing security for the Gay Pride Parade, but I had not taken any photos with the PCSO Deputy in them. I edited my June 25, 2023 Facebook post about the Gay Pride Parade to say multiple law enforcement agencies provided security on October 27, 2023 after my encounter with Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia and Under Sheriff Mike Ray. My Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade Facebook post edit history can be reviewed by clicking on the edit history button. I contacted Chinook Observer reporter Jeff Clemens by text message on December 21, 2023 and asked him if he remembered the PCSO Deputy that was at the intersection of 3rd and Duryea Streets in Raymond, WA during the Gay Pride Parade that used his patrol vehicle to block traffic while he was outside of his patrol vehicle providing security? Jeff Clemens texted me back saying that it was Pacific County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Kimball who now works for the Lewis County Sheriff's Department because Pacific County Sheriff's Office treated him badly. I told Jeff Clemens by text about my interaction with Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia and the Under Sheriff Mike Ray that occurred on October 27, 2023. I also contacted Raymond City Councilman Jovon Vaughn on December 21, 2023 by Facebook Messenger. Raymond City Councilman Jovon Vaughn is a business owner and Gay Rights Activist who was one of the organizers of the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade and Drag Show that occurred on June 25, 2023 and I told him about my interaction with Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia and the Under Sheriff Mike Ray that occurred on October 27, 2023. Raymond City Councilman Jovon Vaughn also stated that he remembered seeing Pacific County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Kimball at 3rd and Duryea Street on the day of the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade providing security for the event. Raymond City Councilman Jovon Vaughn also stated that the Pacific County Gay Community used to call Pacific County Sheriff's Deputy Tony Kimball "Festival Deputy" because he was the Pacific County Sheriff's Deputy that always provided security at the Gay Pride events until he left Pacific County Sheriff's Office to be a Lewis County Sheriff's Department Deputy. Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia and Under Sheriff Mike Ray violated my First Amendment Rights of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press defined in the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States of America that they both swore an Oath to protect when they used their law enforcement positions of authority and the implied threat of deadly force to coerce me to change my factually correct Facebook post about the Raymond, WA Gay Pride Parade to not include the Pacific County Sheriff's Office. I assume the elected Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia was trying to protect his political standing with Republican voters when he violated my first amendment rights on October 27, 2023. Pacific County Sheriff Daniel Garcia's and Under Sheriff Mike Ray's unethical illegal interaction with me on October 27, 2023 violated their oaths to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States of America and makes me question their ability to provide an equal level of service to all the people within Pacific County regardless of the person's race, religion, social economic status, and or sexual orientation.

Excellent, but to say that "our creator" gave us the ability to think for ourselves is not acceptable. Homo Sapiens has existed for more that 100000years and still exists today because they have the ability to think for themselves, including having empathy and morality which is inherent in them. That said, it took decent and reasonable people to ensure that we have the right to think and say what we will (with a limit on speech that foments hate). Very good video.

The speaker should not act out heroically like a poet in declaring the 1st amendment right. The real truth is stark. There plenty of police abuses. They are the first one to uphold the law but do not.

What's the point of having free speech if you spend your day at work, where your company controls your speech, and you need that money to eat. Isn't that the exact same problem but simply shifting the authority from politics to whomever has the capital? And isn't that capital passed down through generations; essentially an aristocracy - the exact same thing we fought to free ourselves from in the first place? You could never suggest, for instance, that this year's surplus profit be used to buy materials, and next year's labor be used to build homes for our families. And even if you did manage to speak it without losing your livelihood, your voice would be ignored - the equivalent of having no vote. It's just bullshit on a piece of paper. Where it matters... we don't have free speech or a choice in how our lives are lived. The constitution protects us from government authority, but it also protects the owners FROM US.

I have a question. And I only mentioned race because well there's a lot of different opinions. But let's say I work for an Asian restaurant and the Americans think we're mistreated (honestly more than that going on but idk if I can prove it..or legally at least) Anyways can these Asian women tell us to stop talking? They already say we can't discuss who gets paid how much... I think that's wrong? Can anyone help me? Maybe this situation isn't important enough to matter.
