I know this is an old video but if you haven’t (or if anyone else is getting into restorations and is reading this) try to get you a homemade Icebox with ventilation to have a controlled environment for your shoe deoxidizing. I live in North Carolina and made the mistake of leaving a pair of shoes out in the heat too long and it caused separation lol. I made my own ice box for like $150 total. So worth it
Full Steps: 1. Thorough external deep clean using Jason Markk cleaner to clean external surface, midsoles and bottoms. 2. Throw in washer using laundry pods to deep clean inside of shoe. 3. Tape off elephant print to get ready for repainting midsole. 4. Use acetone to strip off previous paint finish. 5. Applied 5 layers of Angelus True Blue. 6. Once dried, applied Krylon matte finish 7. Touch up scuffs near eyelets with white paint and blended into panels. 8. Touched up elephant print that became faded due to scrubbing yellowing off pattern. 9. Lace up and enjoy! 10. Once the sun is out, I will be using Salon Care 40 to brighten the rest of the midsole/outsole.
Nice but that true blue collector paint doesn’t match up correctly it was mainly made for the 2011 pair it supposed to be a lot darker on these paint color
It’s easy my guy and it’s a lot cheaper to DIY. Get some paint, stripper and carefully apply it to the area, then with a Scotch pad remove the paint. Then apply Angelus true blue paint and then some Krylon finish once its dry. Vick Almighty has a perfect tutorial video in case these and the instructions I left in the comment aren’t helpful. Alternatively, you could just get true blue paint and add another layer of paint If you want the easy quick fix route.
I know the guys over at Reshov8ner or, however, you spell, it have really good tips for removing the yellowing. For paint chips, you might just have to sand it down a bit and paint over it.
