this is what i want to see from competitive pvp in medieval video games, actually being field officers and using tactics to win the day rather than abilities with cooldowns
Hell yeah! With the game in the best state it's been (cough cough could be better). And the mods, custom maps and skins. Only more players will be joining us on the battlefield.
2023 will be its year of rising, and 2024 will be its peak. It will not fall very quickly, and it will become more iconic and write its name into gaming history, just like Minecraft. Bannerlord on its way to Iconic Games List hopefully!
it would be nice if there could be more players without having low frame rates, if the server could have 500+ players it would be awesome to have heavy, light infantry, cav etc
@@kl9686 yes every soldier in video like this are real players most events have like 100+ players, on weekend events number of players can grow to 300+
From my total war experience, I would like to share some of my thoughts about the 2nd battle. TLDR: Patience is a virtue. The opening was great. Your archers had better cover than the enemy archers, and you were able to secure that position safely. Infantry alone is vulnerable and combined arms is extremely importantly (e.g. 1st game, hammer and anvil coordination). I saw no reason to gave up that position. If the enemy archers are forced away, maybe I would split off a unit of infantry try to push the enemy cavalries out of position with the help of my own cavalries. I would only engage my heavy infantries until the winning condition is secured. Suntzu said "Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win." I really love this video. The immersion, perspective, and tactics/strategy I do see it and it is similar but different compare to top down view strategy games such as Total War. In those games, with only one mind, patience is easily to achieve without any social consequences. Sometimes battle turns into long grief sitting staring instead of grinding battle like the second game. Awesome video. Hope to see more strategic battles! Great leadership too!
4:54 i would have held at the ruins instead of pushing giving their cav less effectiveness, and they probably would have abandon the flank seeing your position in the ruins.
such an entertaining battle, Great tactics Used by your team and enemy as no one is just blindly charging without any Tactics. I should really get into these Clan Wars someday soon.
Great Video! just wanted do say you've really inspired me to wathc more Bannerlord! (Thinking about picking up the game soon...) My piece of word for battle two is proablly pull and fight the cavalry before there on your backside. (Then the Footmen and Archers give up their hill and positioning if they choose to follow.)
I don't know whether this would work or not, but in the second battle you maybe could have ordered to form a defensive schiltrom (circle of spears) with the infantry and ordered the archers into the centre thus defending on all sides, however the main issue with this I can think of is the weakness of split focus by the infantry, the archers in the centre could provide some relief, though whether it would be enough to hold against a cavalry charge would be debatable :D
Circle formations are much harder to coordinate than a shieldwall or a single-file column I would imagine. AI makes it look easy, but real people, even with rehearsal, would get confused once casualties create empty spots in the formation. Especially when there's so little time to react as in this battle.
Honestly there was about 6 rounds and we won 5-1. These two seemed to be my favourite rounds. So I just posted these. I could of posted them all but I prefer closer games if I’m posting them all. :)
I love these videos! I’m curious, how would I go about getting involved in battles like this? I’ve played mount and blade since the original (my first ever videogame lol) but I’ve never dove into multiplayer in warband or bannerlord
Thanks! I’m a seargent in our clan. We have a feudal system. So there are knights, lords and a king who are higher ranks than me. But I would order the men after receiving initial commands form above.
Do you guys do practice sessions? If you can practice fighting and moving while maintaining a line or formation close together. Many of these engagements will be easier. Not saying it's easy 😅
Discipline is kept but the formation does quickly falter. If you watch a few of my recent videoZ You can sometimes see some units holding cohesion and they normally turn into killing machines against the spread out opponents
in the first one you should've wiped the guys on the bridge, then turned around and helped the other guys. an infantryman's not gonna think of the command "some of you come over here" and the whole line gets confused. you couldve saved the couple of dead archers with that one by wiping out an already weakened enemy and used that position to flank the remaining enemy. for the second one, you had your reds taking care of the enemy to begin with, as well as being reinforced by your archers, you could've turned your yellows around and saved them from the cavalry charge by having them brace in a line at the base of the hill or form a quick cav circle to defend against them. ofc tho this is easy to think of when youre not in the moment but god do i get it when you think too much in the middle of a battle and completely fuck up.
This is definitly right. I could of dealt with the archers and cavalry whilst the reds held their infantry. Eventurely we would do won our fight and helped them sfyer
@@Benoniyoutube you have good numbers and competent sargeants, i know it feels like you need to be everywhere at once to tell everyone what to do, but trust in their skills to get the job done
Haha the second battle you got all your men killed and you saw the mistake but to pull out would have been worse much like real combat. But the fact that they all worked together and followed direction in a pvp game is crazy to see. Im used to world of warcraft where nobody listens and everyone just goes solo.
4:20, you have 2 lanes of soldiers with spears, one lane falls back and holds line behind archers, archers still focus enemy ranged while your front lane pushes or just holds shield against infantry and ranged. Spears are disgusting in MB vs Cavalry, especially if you got big shields.
That’s great it hear. We have the largest clan in bannerlord and proudly take on players who’ve never played multiplayer to those with with thousands of hours. So thanks for training up the recruits and keeping our veterans on their toes.
In the second battle I would have ordered the friendly cavalry to counter-charge their cavalry offensive, then sent a small vanguard/one of the infantry units to flank the undefended archers while the main force slowly pushes in.
Meanwhile PS4 suffer a campaign save file glitch that corrupts your data and the multiplier servers are a lagging nightmare 🙄😅😭 glad you're havin fun bro wish i had a gaming PC console jealously right here haha 🤣💯
I think your post game instinct to charge the archers was the right one. Kill the archers, pull the left flank to the top of the hill to make it difficult for the Calvary to hit you guys at speed, clean up the infantry battling the reds, then address the Calvary. Still, hindsight is 2020. The temptation to engulf the left flank was irresistible, it was just an unfortunate angle that the archers had access to.
1. change the cav commander, if he wasnt attacking against enemy cav or trying to get the archers out hes worthless 2. get 5-10 guys that are supposed to be near you at the start, that way if they see and here you moving they just follow, if you go down or its all a mess anyways it is what it is. but if you had a few who where the commander guards, those archers would either have to run and then just go back and flank the other pussies. cheers
In that situation i would have tried to get my soldiers to form a small square to try and stab the cavalry with a pike wall to take out the horses or horses plus the square would have defended our backs from archer fire and the infantry would have trouble attacking the square due to friendly cavalry pushing them and archers dealing friendly fire
How on earth do you get the troops to look like that in this video? are you really using swaidien armory only? what about the custom banners? this just looks so awesome.
This is multiplayer. And with the help of the the swadian armoury modders and our clans “builders” we call them, we were able to make custom skins and banners for our clan colours :) Which reflect brettonian warhanmer colours. :)
There are multiplayer servers. These big organized battles require clan participation though. We love taking on new players :) skill isnt required to have fun
I feel like in that situation I would've had some hold the line on the left a few make a charge for the archers, and others bracing for cav, so that way your 3 threats are covered while you're being surrounded around. Solid games though!! Love the channel
idk the friendly cav situation but I would have wanted to rely on friendly cav to cover enemy cav. However, in that situation I would have rushed the archers. The little hill they were on would've been good defense against the cav if you can get your back to the safe side
Dude this looks sick. I have never played Multiplayer Bannerlord just single player....Is this like a GvG custom skirmish mode? If so how does one get involved in something like this lol
2nd game when you get stuck between the infantry, archers and cavalry. I would form a circle shield formation with 2nd line spear units and let the cav hit us giving friendly cav the time to respond and get into the rear of the enemy cav or the enemy archers.
second round faint a charge on the archers make my archers focus them now and then turn my front row to keep the archers shoots reasonably blocked whilsted the last 2 rows turn and counter the horses.
should have just shift left behind the rocks and gone around, then charge at the enemy so that your not being hit by arrows from your right. and the enemy archers are behind the enemy to where they cant shoot much.
Gotta do that square ⬛ formation and have the open line open and flank the the weakest side and start breaking that ambush but that's alot of communication you need everyone to be on and understand what u mean idk how I'm recommend this but this game looks awesome
tbh i would've had the troops on the left make a diagonal shield wall to block archers on the right and then move forward and the ones on the right will charge which will draw the enemy to defend their archers which will leave an open attack on them
a fight in a crossfire of xbows or archers is the worst idea, you guys need to chase the archers and then fight against the infantry always under your xbows protection
