my first bike was a 96 FZR600 and I loved it and respected it. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE TO A BRAND NEW RIDER IS THIS: always always remember that where ever you look (whatever you set your eyes upon) is where you will go. so if you ever find yourself in a bad position for example coming into a turn too hot, don't panic just look through the turn, fixate your eyes on ONLY the exit of the turn and you will make it through.

thanks for the advice there. i am thinking about getting myself a 750 gixxer as my starting bike too. i think like scooby does "its about the operator, not the machine".

My first bike was a FZ 600 last year befor liquid cooled topped out 225 km now I just picked up a 250 zzr 700 bucks. It was to good of shape to leave it there not running but I knew it was a easy fix. 0 dollars later it's running I'd sell it for 1700

2004 GSXR 750 rider here. The 750 is my most favorite bike ever. I've owned 3. and the 750 was my first sport bike ever as well. Enjoy your sweet bike and ride safe

What I tell folks is first get a bike make sure you test it out within your neighborhood or somewhere local with little to no traffic so you can get the feel for the bike. Then take it out here and there don't just jump out there and you don't know how the bike works or you're not one with the bike. GET A FEEL FOR THE BIKE before you get in the thick of traffic

Also, The GSX-R750 is basically a 600 with 20 more ponies, more low end and mid range power. You would spend 1000's of dollars trying to add 20 HP to a 600. The 750 is the only bike I wanna ride anymore.

I think the 750 is more like a liter bike than a 600 but I’ve never ridden a 750 so I can’t say forsure

@Jane Do your friend cant ride for shit then 🤣 I've had 7 gixxers and while the 750 is an amazing bike it's no competition for a liter bike with a competent rider. The new L7 gsxr1000 is the new ultimate street bike. Small like a 600 and the torque is amazing, soon as I pulled off on it the first time I instantly felt like every other bike I've ridden was a total piece of shit lol

The newer 750 are basically closer to the old old 1000’s power/torque wise. Not the same, but way closer to those and without the weight.

Agree with you bro. Being responsible and a defensive rider makes all the difference. Though it DOES help if you can experience the difference between 300cc, 600cc and 1L bikes. It gives you an idea about the difference in power and handling. Clutch/Throttle control and Handling are the most important skills we need to learn at the beginning of this journey.

Agree with you 100% man.. my first bike was the bigger brother to yours, 2016 gixxer 1000. Guys just get the bike you want and be responsible. The gixxer 1000 is a very easy bike bike to ride, the mistakes I've made so far is forgiving and it's comfortable. I had very minimal riding experience prior to this and let me tell you guys, it's not a big deal. The gixxer 1000 is a very easy bike to grow with and I have no regrets and I live every second of it so far. As per the drive modes, I ride mainly in the C mode, but a few times I've gone out in A mode just because I forgot to change it, but no big deal guys. She is still a beast in C mode. Just like scooby says, you must be mature to start on a 750 or 1000. I think I would have kicked myself getting a 300, so guys just get the bike you really want.

Peter Ramsay I've been window shopping bikes now going on 2.5 years (financial reasons mostly) and at first, I was going to go with a 250 or 300cc bike. After talking with different riders and salesmen, I've come to realize there's really no point on starting out on a 250 or 300cc bike unless one is dedicated to learning how to properly ride with that amount of power. I've been told that most people (where I live) that start out on a 250 or 300 end up wanting a bit more power after 6 months to a year so they end up trading for a 600 or higher. Buy what you want, be responsible, and enjoy the heck out riding.
@Keka-vg3ut
@Keka-vg3ut 7 лет назад
Peter Ramsay bullshit i bet i would outrun you on a 125cc bike on a twisty road Like come on really First you should learn how to ride. Next time on youtube video of someone getting into a dangerous situation on a bike bike and looks up his front wheel because he doesent even know how to brake properly And im not saying you cant learn on a bigger bike i mean i had my first kneedown after a month of riding not to pose or anything just to showcase that some people learn quicker than others but you will defnetly become a better skilled rider if you start on a small bike that lets you make mistakes I love it when i see a group of liter bikes and they all ride like shit and im like really dude should i overtake you on a 15 hp bike Wtf

I agree with you on most untill you said "it's not a big deal" don't ever treat it like it's not cause it is. Some people learn faster than others or can adapt quicker. If my buddy got a fz07 instead of a fz09 he wouldnt have been at the speed he was at when he shattered his pelvis and leg cause he didn't know how to stay in his turn and look around the bend. He entered going too fast freaked out and tenses up right into a guard rail.

Snekisekans I bought a cbr600rr as my first bike. My 600rr hauls ass. As a new rider I can’t imagine starting on something higher than a 600. It’s just the throttle is so touchy. I’m sure a 750 is the same. IMO I would get a 600 over the 750. But there’s nothing wrong with starting on a 300. I just didn’t have the money to buy a 300 an then a 600. Just signed up to take my local basic rider course and become licensed. This summer I want a bike and I am considering this because I am a bigger guy (6’2 and 260lbs) is this a good place to start since I am much heavier than the average rider? I’ve sat on my friends cbr600rr and it was just too small, I felt scrunched but have been told the GSXRs are much more comfortable for taller and more heavy set people. A 250cc is simply not enough bike for me so I’m only considering between 750cc options.

Thank you for this review. Went to a local dealership today and sat on almost every single bike and the gsxr 600/750 really stood out compared to everything else. I'm 5'5 and could barely tip both feet but it felt really nice. The most concerning feature was how to adjust the weight of the bike and how to lean forward without putting all the weight on my wrists. My first car (which I'm selling for a bike) was a 1976 Camaro with about 400hp and it really taught me how to handle a vehicle with a lot of power. So maybe I'll be perfectly fine with a 750 just like you were. Again, thanks. And subbed :)

Just a warning, the gsxr750 will be insanely faster than a heavy camaro with 400hp (while that is a lot of power and super sick in a classic camaro). Twisting a throttle with your right hand takes practice just like it does in a car with your right foot. Ride safe bro🤟🏻

I started on a 750. My best friend started on a hayabusa. Your analogy of guns is right on, very good. The operator isn't what makes it necessarily dangerous but they have a lot to do with outcome. You can die on a 250 or a 600 or bigger either way. I would still recommend something smaller for a beginner just because the build up of speed on bigger bike is more sudden, but other than that it's about the same. If you have bad control problems you honestly shouldn't get a bike in the first place or a gun for that matter.

SD - glad to have found your video. I bought a 2011 GSXR 750 last August as a second bike ( I have a 97' Suzuki Bandit 1200 ) Coming from the Bandit to the GSXR, a lot of similarities ( older GSXR to newer GSXR motor ), but a lot lighter and in the higher rpms, the GSXR is like a possessed Samurai - it is fast ! Your points are valid and providing one knows them self, you could start on a 600 or a 750 - if one is not sure, it would be wise to start on a smaller cc bike. The great thing about the 750 is the low/mid range torque it provides while having the lightness of a 600. My Bandit is easily another 60+ lbs and while it has more low/mid torque, it is noticeably heavier and feels like a tank after riding the GSXR. A couple weeks ago, one of my buddies who rides BMW's took it for a ride and after he got back, he commented how surprised he was at how comfortable it was and loved the lightness and torque it offered - he was really pleasantly surprised. Two link reviews that I found quite helpful when I started looking at the GSXR a couple years ago are listed below. Thanks for the vid and stay safe out there - enjoy that GSXR! EW :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wfyoEH-puF0.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--IDIrrCi7Ck.html

I respect this video a lot! Very personal and precise opinion. I went to look at a 2014 GSXR 750 at a nearby dealer and I liked it. They had a 600 too but preferred the 750 and the salesperson agreed that the 750 would have been a better bet. It is definitely a unique motorcycle. I always wanted a 600 but people keep saying just get a 750, that sweet spot between the 1000 and the 600.

Doesn’t matter what you start on. Especially if you have an two wheel experience and respect for what you ride. I started on a ‘02 ZX9. Most would say that’s too much, but it never was. After only 2 years I went to a 2012 zx14. Nearly 200hp monster. That I ride with respect and safely. Gsxr 750 is a perfect bike though, Good choice.

My first was an 46 and love it. I just started riding again after being cager. I used to own an 04 gsxr750 and love it, hands down the best overall bike. i.restarted on a 650 which is an excellent starter bike. I just got a zx6r. Wanted a 750 but the 600 was cheaper and it's plenty fast for me.

Anything is possible... with duct tape. I don't know and I doubt it. Maybe if the bulb is the same size. The 2011-2015 GSXRs are a different generation than that so I doubt that it's plug and play.

Simply said, Suzuki made the modern 954. It’s the mentality of total control. That’s what Honda wanted in the 90’s and that’s what Suzuki is doing with their 750. Perfect power to tech for the streets.

so i've been riding a 50cc,125cc,150cc as supersports and they are light and not even tall for me and it's not a problem, but would that gixxer750 be a problem for me becouse it's heavier and taller we don't have dealerships here and i never tried one i'm 5'6(170cm) and 135lbs(60kg)

Actually , gsxr's are known to have the lowest seat height compared to all of the other supersports out there from the Big 4. I saw a very short girl riding one and her feet were planted flat. It's a little heavier than a 600 but not by much. I definitely would recommend Suzuki, they tend to be the most comfortable as well.

Very good opinion man I aggree with you 100%, as a rider/racer and gun owner lol. My first bike as well was a GSXR 750, although a used 1999 SRAD model. I had ridden motocross and enduro races on dirt bikes and dual sport type setups since I was a teenager, so I wasn't really buying the whole "you have to learn on a 250 bit" Starting out on a 600 or 750 isn't a bad proposition if the rider themselves respects what they have as well as their own limitations. Riders that have an over inflated sense of their own abilities are going to be dangerous on any bike, and for the most part a safe sane rider will be safe on any bike. The GSXR 750 is an awesome platform for riders of all skill levels in my opinion. Stock they can be docile enough for a novice and when your skills progress you can order some aftermarket parts and turn it into a full on liter bike rival. It's a nimble chassis but with enough power to have fun with anything on the street or track. My current 750 made 142 HP at the tire with a mostly stock engine. (Cams/port work/exhaust/tune) On that chassis it's enough to keep up with the liter bike class on all except for the longest of straights, in the twisties its a riders race.

You can start on a litre bike if you want to and won't die. But you would most likely be a BETTER ride if you started on a smaller capacity bike first.

Back in 1992 my first bike was an '89 Yamaha FZR 600 had it for 6 years and stopped riding for a while. Then in 2000, I got a 1999 GSX-R 600 in really good condition and rode that for about 2 years. Did a lot of research when the '01 GSX-R 600 and 1000 caught up the the '00 750 and that the 750 was not that heavier that the GSX-R 600 but lighter than the CBR 600, R-6, and ZX-6 so in Dec of '02, I bought an '03 GSX-R 750 and at the time it had one of the best power to weight ratio.

I know I’m late but like one of my coworkers that I ride with and convinced me to get a bike said “just because the power is there doesn’t mean you have to use it” I lived by that for almost 2-3 months before even cracking it into double digit rpm and after a year I could control the bike pretty well. Still not as good as him though. He can do turns at 120 and one hand. I can barely doing 100 with both hands lol

I loved this video bro.... the very first bike I ever rode was a Gixxer 750 rode it around the parking lot of my job at the time I was working at a motorcycle dealership just to get a "feel for it" then rode it 15 miles on a major highway to my friends house who owned the bike.... he Bought an old school f4i that day and for some reason he couldn't ride both bikes home at the same time not sure why tho 😂😂 lol since the f4i didn't have insurance on it he said he would rather ride that one..... long story short your exactly right bout bike size I've proven that you've proven that and countless others have too.... any bike size can be deadly if you don't ride the right way.... Common sense and great respect to any bike will keep you out of trouble. If you not respect two wheels you’ll end up badly it’s just matter of time.

I also dropped it in the middle of the street lol now my left leg hurts and my bike's tail is broken. Hopefully i learn how to drive it any time soon so i could take it to the streets but since is my first time driving a motorcycle i think i should of started in a 300 lets see in a couple of weeks (if im still alive) if i dont regret getting a smaller bike

That's the bike I learned to ride on and I just jumped on it and rode on the street. Bad idea, I was almost rear ended by a car. Drive it around your residential area late at night when no cars are out and learn. I'm sorry to hear that you crashed! It's part of riding, don't be embarassed just pick it up, fix it, and keep riding. 750 is a big bike to learn on, just respect the bike and respect the throttle and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Thanks and yea just have to get up and keep going lol Btw how long did it took you to fully control the bike

Im a lil older, 28, but pay 350 a year for liability. Ive had two K6 600s and now a K8 600 and im ITCHING for a liter bike. It is nice the 600/750 use thr same frame so almost everything is interchangable. My first 600 I popped a head gasket and hydrolocked the motor. Got a full 750 long block with trans and harness shipped freight to my doorstep for just under 1000 and only had 3600 miles. Next bike when I move up to a liter I wanna try an R1. My brother has an 05 and theyve been really catching my eye. The cross plane motor/intake set up is the meanest sounding bike out there imo

Hell no, if youve never ridden get a small cheap bike so when you sell it you dont lose much
@windyrun7979
@windyrun7979 4 года назад
@@jonathanesqueda3452 The key to riding is throttle control. No one is born with it - its something you need to learn. That's why its best to start with a low power bike (used) while you learn throttle control. Once learned you can ride anything. Also- learn to grip the bike with your legs - not hands. This way when you hit pot holes or whatever you will hang on with your legs and not hands. Sudden movements (gripping throttle) will result in sudden acceleration and that's when crashes occur.

Windy Run yes in December last year I bought an R6 as my first street bike at 15 but I already knew how to ride because I bought a dirt bike and I was riding that all I had to do was just go easy and not go high in the rpms cause that’s where the R6 power is top end and yes I quickly learned to grip with my legs cause my wrist hurt bad for the first week and I still haven’t crashed or dropped it yet or been pulled over but yea like you said I feel like I can ride the ninja H2R or a busa I just need to be very careful

GSX-R 750 in “B” mode is 500cc power….A good reason not to start on a nice powerful first bike is dropping it. Being afraid to practice low and high speed maneuvers because it’s new and expensive you will progress slowly!

You may be OK with a 750cc bike But it is not a 1st bike for newbies, There is a reason that 250cc, 300cc, 500cc bikes are made for learners so they can learn the craft without killing themselves.
