We clean them the same way in Jersey but we don’t steam them; we brine the in beer, butter, garlic; parsley and J O #2. We eat them hot or cold. Never just warm. Great contest thank you for sharing. Your crabs look delicious. And thank you for the toad fish cracker tip. They are awesome

great vid. jo's #2 is for steaming crabs whole so the seasoning sticks to the shell. jo's #1 is for general seafood seasoning and what I would do for this style. I've done them both ways and like them no matter what. tasty treat especially if you're not near the water like me.

I'm in SC and fished the piers a lot growing up. 3 different times in 3 different years I have seen blue crabs swim by the piers that we have fished . The wild part to this is they were in the hundreds swimming by . They were headed down your way . Why ?? No clue but there was a shit load of cobia following them every time . They were at the surface or around 2 inches deep in the water. Very breath taking ever time !!

Was over there from 2000-2003 husband and daddy helped build it…. Ironically my dad was a commercial fisherman on and off his whole life and now my husband is taking it over the gulf was always my dads first love😂

Ithas been raining in eastern Wyoming since Wednesday night. Almost 4” so far. We really needed the moisture but we still have lots of snow pack in the mountains. Rain is melting the snow so the creeks and rivers are at flood stage. Just saw a Facebook post by Sarah Arrington Robert had a stroke and is in the hospital. They could use some prayers!

A few years ago i was shrimping in palatka and caught a bluecrab that was 11 3/4 inches long, i cooked it and took a picture with it. The claws stretched from the tips of my fingers to 3/4 the way up my bicep.

Blue crabs are no joke! I picked one up with a pair of grilling tongs once and he grabbed the tongs with his claw and crushed his own body!

This one brought back some good memories. My grandparents had a place in this area. I noticed the “Power plant” haha! I used to wear the bass and shell cracker out and the shrimping used to be good there too! Great video tug!

Y'all caught some pretty crabs there Capt. Tug , Try tearing the top shell off first and use the point of the shell to tear off the apron . You should try frying you some of the bigger crabs one time , you might like that .

You need a float/buoy puller . One wooden handle ( rake or mop) A long piece of metal around 16 in. Mount it on the end as if you were going through it and stab something . About half way on the metal bend it into a v shape . Make the top of the v so it can catch the rope and the bottom of the v so it can hold the rope and buoy and not fall out wile picking it up with the wooden handle . Your new tool will also grab cleat on the boat ramp to pull you in to the dock if needed .

On a pier you need to try the hoop nets. Big metal ring with a small metal ring in the center. Lays flat but bottom drops trapping them in a basket. This you can catch 6-10 crabs at one time. Measuring crabs? Dollar bill point to point.

We use a butter knife to get the claw meat out . Hit the solid part of the claw near where they meet and hit it and pull the moving part of the claw

As a native Floridian, I’ve never seen a Floridian steam their blue crabs. While steam crabs are great, it’s definitely not a Floridian way of cooking them, in my experience. We boil! Either way, your cook looked good.

Cleaning the crab the way you did is the only way to prepare them... Cooking whole crab and cleaning them at the table is so messy and you wind up eating some things you really don't want. Great vid!
