Tapered drill or unibit will debur copper tubing really fast. You do have to watch what orientation the pipe is in so any chips don’t get way inside pipe Usually some taps on bottom of the pipe will make the chips come out though the bit will throw most of them outside the pipe

No we don’t use those here, we need heat 5 months out of the year, they use gas or oil for it.

In Massachusetts we have to be 18” off the ground with heat pumps. I can no longer use those pads. Haven’t found a perfect solution yet. Quick sling mini split stand 500 lb one with pad underneath metal quick sling.

Leaving 410a in your hoses will make them wear out much quicker. Not a huge deal but those rings aren't cheap

Need to wrap the valves

Not with solder very low temp and heat dissipates fast. Also schraders are removed

Weigh in your line length charge before you even crack the valves. Easy way in doing it.

Why not add the extra refrigerant before you let the gas in the unit go while still under vacuum?

Any idea's how reliable these will be over the course of the life span (15-20 years), if they break after the warranty period how costly are parts and labor compared to other brand names like a Carrier.

Staybrite #8 by Harris. Used for residential hvac tubing connections. Can withstand higher pressures than brazing, a much more flexible joint, and does not cause any carbonization on the pipe that can damage the TXV or oil in the refrigerant. And the low temperature doesn’t stress the copper as much.

@@DCHVAC catching your videos and Mikes, sold my first Bosch 2.0. Most intriguing thing to me is the stay bright 8. I know you guys get a lot of hate for it, but it’s literally what the manufacturers use in a lot of units (I think lol) I may have to look into it. If we could press fitting onto our units I’d consider investing in press tool, but most jobs I don’t have enough joints to make it worth it, plus my torch already has to be out.

@@DCHVAC So, are the systems 1/3 the cost of a comparable Trane or Carrier system? I'm sure the manufacturing savings are being passed on to the consumer.. My guess is parts availability will be an issue and the cost of the huge motherboard on the condenser will be astronomical. -Don't know about most people, but I want a unit that a typical service tech can repair with the parts he is carrying on his truck.
