Calving season on Rolling Hills Farms start with a bang and some early morning action plus we're finally getting rain! #familyfarm, #beefcattle, #calvingseason, #womanfarmer,
We’ve eliminated calf scours the past five years by cleaning nightly. We burn through more straw but it gets composted back into fertilizer for the fields which saves us a ton of money growing our hay and grain. We used to have sick calves every year before we started this program.
Good to see those new calves coming on. The probiotics and boluses are probably a good idea. I remember the struggle with new calves and the scours - mainly because we keep all the cattle inside the same building all winter, so things were passed around. A lot of the dairy farmers around here use those calf hutches and that seems to keep them healthier. If yours are able to go outside, that's even better.
Glad to see calving is going smooth....sure nice having nice calm cows to deal with, makes life a lot easier. Guess I'm a movie star again😂😂😂....We got just above a half inch of rain the other day and next week looks damp, no complaints from me....Thanks Dave, talk to you soon.
