Andrew, I love the out takes at the end. Not only are they funny, but truthfully as a channel just trying to start out, it is nice to know that I am not the only one that has these struggles. Your videos always seem so seamless and your always so well spoken. I struggle in front of the camera, but seeing stuff like that lets me know that I'm not the only one, and encourages me to keep trying. Great job as always, and keep up the great work. God Bless.

How far down the wall did you get before you started thinking that maybe Staples would’ve been fine? Lol. Hopefully you won’t get too much wind and it will hold up for a while. I think you should do a speed square video or maybe add some other tools like that in, I’ve used them for years and worked in construction and I figured a lot of it out but there’s still stuff on there I never used and really have no idea what it’s for. I love specialty tools, I worked for metal fabrication and engineering company in New Jersey and people will come to us with a specific need and sometimes we would create tools for them or parts for them, it was a lot of fun.

Did an architect or engineer spec the 2x8 ceiling joists or did you look at a span table.
@TKCL
@TKCL Год назад
An engineer did, yellow pine has a span of 15'3". It MUST be yellow pine as it has greater strength than white wood. I would have to replace those with 2x10s in white wood.
@markb.1259
@markb.1259 3 года назад
Andrew... the attic floor "joists"... are you using 2 X 8's.... or 2 X 10's?? It looks like they're 2 X 8's spaced 24 inches apart, which would give them a max spanning distance of less than 12 feet... and a LOT of bounce in the attic floor. Care to share the lumber size and spacing numbers?
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 года назад
2x8s yellow pine. It's equivalent to 2x10 spruce or white wood. Yellow pine is stronger. This was engineered for attic weight only, not living quarters.
@markb.1259
@markb.1259 3 года назад
@@TKCL I'm no expert. The tables I find online list the maximum spanning distance for 2X8 southern pine, spaced 24 inches on center, at 11 ft. 11 in. That's gotta be pretty close to the length you're installing. I wouldn't put too many holiday decorations up there... ;-)
@TKCL

Just looked at tables myself. #2 yellow pine for uninhabitable attic spaces 24 inch on center is 13ft 2 inches to over 20ft depending on psf load. Looks like I'm well within the range for no more load than we will have.
@markb.1259
@markb.1259 3 года назад

With the two top seals the spacing isn’t going to matter, if you were putting a bedroom up there or something it might matter, but then you would probably be going 12 or 16 inches on center anyway. I’m kind of surprised with all of your codes that they let you do 24 inches there. It’s looking pretty good and It’s all really coming together.
