If nothing more exciting than the ordinary happens, then the ordinary must be super interesting and intriguing. If it's neither of these I lose interest and stop reading. I prefer books where the action/conflict kicks in quite soon. Love and light.
One of the most annoying first chapters I've read was in a book about a recurring character. This first chapter was all about the aftermath of the previous book in this series, which I had not read. So I had no idea what it was talking about.
