First Church Sings "Sing Til The Power The Lord Comes Down" at Ralph H. Goodpasture's appreciation service. Lead by Edward Clark. Video footage courtsey of Marcus Wadley.
The choir marching in was one of the highlights of the service at FCD. My uncle used to drive us to Chicago every Sunday night from Indiana to be a part of their awesome service
This is what I am talking about ""REAL CHURCH." I am loving these throw backs. Keep them coming. No choir no where like The First Church of Deliverance.
In the old days, the custom of raising your right hand while you entered a church or marched in came from Elder Lucy Smith's Pentecostal Church. It was a sign that you had accepted Christ and were saved, as opposed to being a spectator or visitor.
WHOOOO!!!! Yes SAH! This is HIGH CHURCH!!!! MY MY MY MY ! (with tears in my eyes) Gone are the days. This is First Church in its element. Thanks for this Historic footage!
Amen. High church indeed! Many do not understand. It is an important Spiritual Portion of God. God is spiritual. It awakens the Spirit in us all. They hold true. Amen. Blessings.
The right hand lifted when marching in the choir at First Deliverance represent and lifted mind. My name is Marcus and I'm the choir Director and a member for over 40 years.
@fedmusician, I know it's been 8 years since you wrote this comment, but I wanted to thank you for your ministry and also thank you for including information about the meaning of the custom of the choir marching in procession with their right hand raised. I remember (and participated in ) church processions at my Baptist church in Atlantic City, New Jersey. That church still has choir processions, but we didn't march with our right hands lifted up. In case you or others who read this know the answers to these questions, I'm wondering if the First Deliverance Church choirs still march into the sanctuary, and do they still march with their right hand lifted up? God bless!
@@azizip171 do you know of a Holy Ghost church in need of drummer in NJ,? I LIVE here in Staten Island NY..I Love this genre of music. I believe in the old time way!
This is "high church". It is still an attempt to lift one most spiritually, emotionally and spiritually. If you walk better, talk better and are better, God is uplifted. No problem at a sporting game. I just happen to love and appreciate team God. Amen. Go First Deliverance. I hope others agree. If not. Oh, well. God. God. God!
Lurherans, Episcopalians, Anglicans and other churches, "reverence the altar" as well. You have no sense of Church history. You so-calked "apostolic" sects did not exist until the last century. Give it rest.
