theBurntEggRoll - Some friendly advice from a fellow experienced Uber/Lyft driver. First, don't cancel rides once you have accepted them. If you cancel to many rides you can be suspended from Lyft. Only cancel if you absolutely have too. If you cancel just once in a blue moon after you accept a ride, you will be ok. But only do it if absolutely necessary. It's better to just not hit accept once the app starts pinging and doing it's 10 second countdown. Just let it time out and log off. But it's best to log off before you get another request. Also cleanliness is a must. Passengers expect a clean car. Both inside and out. Never talk politics. If the passenger insists, just agree with them and act like you share the same point of view as they do. Even if you don't. You only have to deal with a customer for around 10 to 15 minutes on average once they get in your car anyway. Always say hello and greet your passenger when they get in the car. Ask how their day is? Try to always smile and act like you care about them. Hopefully you do though. But if you don't, act like it anyway. Most passengers are friendly. But about 15% will just get into your car and won't really want to talk to you at all. They will just bury themselves into their cell phones, or put on headphones. If a passenger is giving you one word answers, it's a good sign they just want to be left alone. Always play music on a radio station that is non offending. You want a safe radio station. No religious, heavy metal, or country. Typically light rock is the most universally accepted music genre. If the customer wants to change the station, or use an Aux cord to play their own music through the their cell phone, I typically allow it. If the passenger wants to crank the radio and is just out for fun that night with friends, I typically allow them to play the radio at higher volumes. Remember, that the ride isn't likely to be much over 15 minutes on average anyway once they get in. (Just a reminder again.) Also it's against Lyft and Uber terms of service to haul around unaccompanied minors under the age of 18. If they get in, tell them that you can't take them to their destination, as it's against the rules and often law. If you don't know how old they are and you already started the trip and only find out well into the ride how old they are, it's then best to take them to where they are going. Then once you let them out, rate them 3 stars and let Lyft know that you only found out how old they were well into the ride. Tell them it wasn't safe to let the passenger out and it was just safer to get them to where they needed to go. Just tell them you are rating them low in protest that they were minors. If you rate a passenger 3 stars or lower, you will not see that passenger again. So if you have a very bad experience with a passenger, just rate them 3 stars and lower. You won't have to worry about being paired with that passenger again. Otherwise it's best to always rate 5 stars. If you don't rate the passenger, then after 24 hours, Lyft will issue that passenger a 5 star rating on your behalf. Speaking of ratings. You want to always give the best possible experience to your passenger. This is because you want to be rated highly. And in turn passengers want a good rating too. A Driver must not drop under a 4.6 star rating. (Goes for Uber too.) Anything less than a 4.6 star rating, can get you fired from the Lyft platform. A driver should always strive for a 5 star ride from the passenger. 4 stars and below is considered failure. Yes! A 4 star ride will go against you. And the lower the star rating you get from the passenger, the more it will impact your score. This is why it's critical you try to do your best. You need to get 5 star ratings from a passenger. If a passenger doesn't rate you at all, then don't worry. Failure to rate the driver will not go against your score. And in turn, this is for passengers! If you get bad marks from your Uber driver, your score will drop too. A passenger with a bad rating will find it harder and more difficult to get a Uber or Lyft driver to pick themselves up. Your wait times will gradually increase when trying to get a ride. And you will find drivers canceling on you if your score gets too low. If you get to many complaints from drivers, you can also be deactivated even as a passenger. A lot of drivers start to get nervous if they see a score of 4.3 or lower. So if you find drivers canceling on you, it could be due to your score. Passengers should respect their Uber/Lyft driver. They are using their own car to transport you. It is not a Lyft/Uber company vehicle. A driver is a contractor for Uber/Lyft. If a driver thinks you are a danger, or are damaging their property, or you are belligerent towards the driver in anyway, then the driver has the right to cancel the trip and literally kick you out of their car. They are not Uber or Lyft employees. theBurntEggRoll - For some other good advice, I recommend that you watch these RU-vid channels. You have to have a car that is allowed by Lyft to do Premier rides. Took someone from Redondo to the airport with regular Lyft and it was $14. I did the exact same ride with Premier and it was $57. In my pocket. I’ve also made a video about Lyft vs Uber.

I was like WTF? stayed with uber. and lately uber is been really slow on me. and them when back with lift. pick up two ladies and one of them try to touch my hair. and told me I was a hottie. lmao. If you can't get close enough when arriving you must manually EXIT the built-in navigation. Then you canfirm that you have arrived. The reason you couldn't confirm that you arrived to pickup those two people at the gated community is because the built-in navigation was still running. It runs on top and hides alot of useful functionality in the driver app. You can force the built-in nav to stop by tapping the "Exit" button. After the built-in nav has stopped you will see the normal driver app screen with features allowing you to "Tap to Arrive" and also to "Drop Off" at the end of the trip.

To ALL DRIVERS, STOP giving automatic 5 Star rating to Riders. Stop, Stop, Stop !!! All Riders Start at 4 Stars, then work up or down depending on the quality of the rider. Just because a rider got in, got out and paid, Does NOT justify a 5 Star rating. Just like AL Drivers have to work for 5 Stars, so should ALL Riders. All riders start at 4 stars, then go up or down depending on the quality of the rider. Seriously tired of seeing 1 star riders with a 5 star rating. They should be on a bus or a bike, Not having the Privilege of riding in your car. Drivers, this is the Only job in the world that you have the ability to Rate and Review a customer / rider. Don't let your rate go to waste. By properly rating a rider you are helping other drivers be safe and create a positive environment. Let me remind you, if a driver gets a 4.6 or lower rating You Get Deactivated. Bye bye. .. What happens when a rider gets a 4.6 or lower rating? ??? U hear those crickets yet....that's right, Absolutely Nothing happens to the rider. 4.3, 3.9, 3.1 rating. ..nope, sorry, nothing happens to the rider. And if for some Miracle the rider does get deactivated, they open another account in about 60 seconds. So rate riders appropriately

Here's a tip , eggroll , when you get to a crib and they make you wait too long and the area is surging cancel the ride , time is money dude! Take it from me , rideshare is volume, this is the only way you'll make bank.

Press the exit button in Lyft after you pick them up, and it'll say arrived and then just confirm both you arrived and picked them up.

Uber and Lyft don't ever pick up a unaccompanied minor. In layman's terms don't ever pick up anyone under 18 because if you get in an accident Uber or Lyft insurance will not cover you. However if the high school student is accompanied by anyone over 18 you're covered. Remember you are a independent contractor so you need to be mindful of your policy as a Rideshare driver when I used to drive before I even got in the car I had a lawyer let me know what I can do and what I can't do was Uber and Lyft because I knew that I was an independent contractor. Again never ever pick up anyone under 18 because if you get in an accident you will have to repair the car yourself with your own money any and don't let the minor get hurt and you have property they can put a lien on your property if you can't pay their medical bills this is very serious. When I drove in the past and got a ride and it was right by a high school I just automatically cancelled I don't even care LOL

Making a decent profit with lyft? I'm in LA as well and I hear Santa Monica, culver city, Hollywood, and other beach areas are cool locations to drive. Im still trying to figure out a system because I can't keep making just enough to pay the rental.

You can easily make $100 to $200 daily. But fyi it is against lyft policy to ride any one under the age of 18 without an adult being with them. The state of Texas has regulated that but many lyft and uber drivers seem to be unaware of this policy and regulation. I don't know how it is from state to state. But it's definitely against Lyft policy. I questioned during orientation and a lead lyft representative stated that there are harsh consequences if something was to happen with a under age passenger in your car without an adult. Its best to just avoid the hassel and use your judgement by asking thier age before picking them up. I've been told by local police officers that uber and lyft drivers are not allowed on school campuses to pick up students but however can pick up and drop off school employees, faculty or staff members in designated locations of the school campus

My friend drives for Lyft and it's so sad to watch yet its Hilarious at the same time. He called me one day saying he finally had a job. "Driving for Lyft" lol. Fulltime at that. I asked if it even paid well. He said he would be making around 500$ a week or more. I replied, if it's that easy, everyone would be doing it. He refuses to get a real job. He cant wake up on time. Calls in all the time and ultimately gets terminated. So he was excited to find something he actually likes doing. Now for the bad part, I later found out he's renting the car from lyft. He pays them 240$ weekly for a 2018 Toyota Corolla 😱😱. Sorry to Toyota but there is no Corolla on planet earth worth 960$ a month. Lyft has to be out of there rabbit asses minds to charge that for that cheap ass car. Better yet, who ever agrees to pay that has to be out of there rabbit assed mind. Well anyway, he makes about 350$ a week and has to put his own fuel in the car. I dont need to add that up for you guys or should I say subtract that down. This fool runs out of gas every week and now couldn't pay his cell phone bill. He cant even access the lyft app to log himself ready to work. He's just sitting there like a bump on a log with no answers. He's been driving morning, noon and night to still not be able to put gas nor pay any of his Bill's. May I also add that he sleeps in the car? Yes. You probably thinking hey, if he's your friend why dont you help him right? Wrong. I give 40$ here and 60$ there. I even gave him 80$ a few weeks ago, filled up his gas tank and bought him food. He called a week later. Out of gas in a parking lot, no money, no food. Sorry, but I couldn't keep fucking with him like that. Giving away all of my spending money feeling sorry for a dumb ass. Can only give him advice now cause it's free. My advice was "Take that car back to lyft and tell them thanks but no thanks, you cant afford it, hell your not even living check to check, your living day to day. Go and get a real damn job where they pay you for your work instead of you paying them." He again has turned down my advice. He said he's gonna hustle up a prepaid device from wal mart or Walgreens to log back into lyft and start driving. SMH. He's obsessed. Anyone wanting advice wether to work for lyft or not? Have your own car not theirs, Have a real job and do Lyft or Uber part time on the side. Otherwise your doing nothing but wasting your own time.

First day can be a headache i had a few learning points. I got a flat in my first week🤔

I drive in Sacramento area. I just canceled a ride because it was $2.17 ride. I gave the lady a free ride and turned my app off going home. Lyft is killing drivers here. Everything is far apart here in Sacramento. Drivers have to be on crack to drive Sacramento area. Not to mention nobody tips here. Raise the rate.

Acceptance rate doesn’t matter. It’s the cancellation rate that matters.

Driving Uber is a little better than Lyft. Their app runs much better. GPS is built into the Uber app where Lyft has you download an additional app. I drive in Vegas on the weekends. I like Uber much better.

lyft gps is crazy sometimes it will tell you to go to different address, and sometimes rider enter wrong address, this guy wanted to go to airport departure, but lyft gps shows different take air cargo road where commercial trucks acces to airport, and he reported i was driving intoxicated, to get free ride or refound
