I just want to share I went to school in jersey city right outside of NYC and i suffered a straight mice infestation for most of junior year. While it causes anxiety we wished we could stay somewhere else. When this happened on campus we had nowhere to go and couldn’t afford to go anywhere. Sometimes acknowledging this can help positivity, I know it does for me. I’m ironically a secretary for a landlord while going to grad school now.
I had a bat that somehow got into my apartment and ended up in my laundry basket and I dealt with many repercussions of bats (bat bugs but I thought I had bed bugs) and had to get rabies shots so I completelyyyy understand the struggle... hang in there girl! It gets better.
oh my goodness that's terrifying! it is getting better it's just very.... gross and disturbing at first especially when youre not sure how many there are
If you fix the outside, you shouldn’t have any more problems. Obviously you’re going to have to deal with what’s already in the house, but because it’s an older home you’re going to deal with stuff like that. The same thing happened to me when I moved into my apartment in college, and all I can say is if you can get an exterminator to come in, they usually work magic and help get rid of all the pests. But the most important thing is fixing the outside. I wouldn’t worry too much. Lots of people deal with this kinda stuff and I’m sure you and griffin will be fine in the house that you’re renting. As long as you take care of it sooner rather than later, you should be fine for the rest of the year!
the exterminators helped a lot but the big key was getting the holes in the bottom of the house properly sealed! hoping we don't have any more issues in the winter or anything. we definitely knew we'd have some issues with an older home but didn't imagine anything with giant rats hahaha

i'm so glad that you always share the difficult parts of your life with us. i just started my senior year of college and things feel like they could not be worse, it makes me feel a little less alone knowing that someone else is feeling the same struggle as me! also i loved this vlog, i think i prefer more relaxed videos vs a very "aesthetic" video, love you girly!!
I had a lot of problems with landlords in college, at least in the area I went to school there were a few landlords/companies controlling all of the student off campus housing and they would take advantage of students. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A TENANT. My roommates and I dealt with so much bs that wasn’t even legal.
I start september 24th :) I'm doing a bachelor in veterinary medicine and i'm looking most forward to the class "study of the vertebrates and anatomy of the pets"! I hope you are all okay with the house and that you and Griffin have a great school year!

We have been seeing mice in our current rental a month after moving in. Long story short we are moving out next month, our new place is mouse free. They were so bad they were getting in our engines, I saw one pop out it’s head by my windshield wipers on my way to work the other day and that was my last straw
ugh i totally can feel your anxiety and frustration. i moved into my apartment for the school year last week and it was DISGUSTING. it was not sanitary and livable at all and they wouldn’t come fix it until i went into the management office myself and got an attitude. i hope you’re able to get it all figured out soon so you can just focus on your senior year :-)

I'm glad your dad is helping with the rodent issue! I hope you can get things figured out, so you can move back. You can see if your land lord is willing to put steel wool in the areas that you saw the rat. My dad did that for me in my room when I noticed a mouse come out from an area below my built in drawers. Rodents can;t eat through steel wool, it may help give you piece of mind.
My favorite class right now is Intro to Psychology 😊 I took psychology when I was in high school; but, didn't get to learn as much due to my teacher being pregnant at the time and her being on maternity leave. However, now that it's my second year of college, I'm able to finally take the course, and I'm super stoked! 😊

Abby you're not alone lol, my LAST FIRST WEEK OF UNDERGRAD AS WELL...and its not going as planned to say the least. Took my dog to the vet and was heartbroken to hear that he needs a few surgeries. Making it really fricken difficult to stay on top of school work already when youre anxious as hell. You staying positive even in a bad situation as well is super uplifting, thank you for that girl! Hope after this whole situation you have the best last year! xx
I feel you Abby I came home to my last apartment and there was a rat and a leaf roach it was awful it was the south as well and I moved right away. Just take a breath it will put everything happens for a reason and you have so much support with friends and griffin :-) keep your head up girl you can definitely do it. Once I got ants really bad in my apartment. I had left out tea with honey (don't do that). Maintenance put down this sticky poison, and they were gone in 3 days. I can't imagine a rat though. Sorry to hear that. Also we have had meetings about bed bugs. My city where I live is top 5 in the nation for bed bugs.
I go to school online through Arizona State University , my classes are accelerated and broken up in sessions. My first session I’m taking Bio, and a Women’s Studies Course, ‘Sex and the City’. I was originally most excited about Sex and the City, but my Bio class is through a really cool website that’s set up like a video game, so I’ve been more excited about that cause it’s fun and easy 😂
I know you’re unsure about grad school but I recently graduated with my masters in accounting. I recommend not going the extra year unless you need to in order to reach the 150 requirements. That was the only reason I went to graduate school but if you already have 150 when you graduate I say you start studying for the cpa
that's what i've been told! if i get my masters, it will definitely be specialized in tax because the people at the firm im interning at next summer told me if i have the chance to do a specialized tax masters i should. i also kinda wanna go the mba route but not sure. i agree though, i dont plan on doing the general masters in accountancy since ill have the 150!

Is there a housing authority where you are? Get them involved if the landlord doesn't fix the problems outside in a timely manner. Like it should have been repaired already! You have rights as a tenant. Good luck! Hugs!
we saw more droppings after the first one was trapped so we weren't sure if there were more or not, and it was the size of a small cat and we've never had to deal with anything like it before so it was kinda alarming. we're all scared of different things and mine just happens to be rodents
