I just went through my first week of dental hygiene school also and it’s sooo much information already.. by Thursday I was extremely tired of introducing myself in every class, with the same people..lol and we have our very first proficiency tomorrow in clinic... kinda nervous but excited.. congratulations again.. a lot of information but so amazing...

Are there hygienist with tattoos? I have no problem wear long sleeves,but I have a few on my hand 😣 I'm In Louisiana and have to relocate to Houston for hygiene school. So ready to stop being a waitress one day

@@DestinyShelyn Houston Community College Coleman location, Lone Star College, and Pima Institute. I'm leaning toward Lone Star because theres not as many pre reqs as HCC. What about you?

Yes, generally that's correct. But having the higher degrees provide more career opportunities and expansion

It's a college with a dental hygiene program. The program is 22 months after you take all your prereq's at the school I'm at :)

I’m currently taking my pre requisite classes, and hold a full time job so I can pay bills etc. Were you/ are you able to hold either a part time or full time job while in the dental hygiene program or is the work load too much to manage a job as well?

Unfortunately for my program I would have never been able to make a part time job work, but I know some people can make it work depending on how their program is set up and how bad they need to make it work

I love Dental Hygiene a lot. Im an international student. So what program i Have to study before studying DH? And after graduating dental hygienist, can i study doctor of dental medicine? thank you so much

Most programs have prereqa that you have to complete before applying to the program, but it really just depends on the program. A girl in my class is planning to go on and become a dentist after she gets her Bachelors in Dental Hygiene; I'm not positive if that's the route you should take if you want to be a Dentist though. I believe most people get a Bachelors in something like Biology before applying to a Dental Program.

We just got whatever one they told us to order. We only use stethoscopes to take blood pressure so I'm sure you don't need anything super fancy :)

Some of the classes may transfer to the prereq's for the program but I'm not sure how many. That would be a good question for an advisor at the college you want to attend!

You are so lucky, my program is on a 6 point grading scale so you can’t get below an 80 on anything or it is considered failing.

3-5 years, depends on how you do it and how fast you take your prereq's

But, the colleges told me its 2-4 years either 2 year associate or 4 year bachelors. Either degree is amazing

At my college it’s basically a total of 3 years. 1 year of prerequisites FULL time And 2 years of the actual program FULL time. I find that most people go through this same route before entering the program.
