Look, it's no secret the 6th-generation CR-V has been given the same upmarket push we've seen in other Honda models. While we can't say how much (more) it will cost compared to the outgoing model, we can try to figure out what makes that price hike justified.
Jim, on location in Thailand, drives it for the first time ahead of its Malaysian launch in December. Now dubbed the incoming 'flagship' of the local line-up, does the all-new CR-V impress?

Thanks Jim for the initial review! Understand the prices are not set yet, but based on first impression - is the CR-V that much better than the Civic e:HEV? Looking to invest into one next year, typically prefer Sedan cars but considering the CR-V may be more suitable for a (growing) family car.

I still prefer the Civic haha. But you'll probably be better off going with the CR-V if nothing but for the space.

Hi. I recently test drove a gen 5.5 AWD CRV 1.5T and found, starting off from traffic light, the car felt much underpowered. Not sure what's wrong with that car. So how is the power of this gen 6 1.5T FWD like, especially starting off from traffic light?

Hi bro, which SUV drives better. A tiguan R line wt the GTI’s motor or this new CRV? Mybe can do a shootout btw both SUV? Bear in mind, the latest tiguan just launched recently in Europe.

Good idea on the shootout! The Tiguan (current 2nd-gen) definitely drives better while this CR-V is softer, more comfort-tuned. With the 2.0 TSI it's also noticeably quicker than the Honda.

It's trying. Haha. Mazda's newest cars have stepped it up. The Honda feels more expensive but isn't premium level (yet).

Jim, any difference between crv thailand vs crv malaysia. Heard that passenger seat’s feeling seems different from what tested in thailand on the road

I didn't feel an obvious difference, then again I was sitting in the driver's seat of the CR-V most of the time. Then again, Thai roads are also smoother than in Malaysia.

Jim K, thanks for the topline review. Which has a better ride quality & NVH? The Hybrid or the Turbo? I remembered your comprehensive review on the Civic e:HEV which you gave almost a "perfect score".....would this CRV be similar?

Ride quality on both are identical but the hybrid will win on NVH. Hybrid is also really impressive in town - overall hard to beat as an all-round powertrain

If anyone needs a hybrid family SUV the Zenith would offer more. For the 5 seater the CX-5 is better in everyway. I guess Malaysian would still get this because the H

cx5 has close to 0 tech and tighter interior space for almost the same price

Lots of CX-5 owners sold their cars when they get a kid, so if you’re either single or don’t have kids then the CX-5 is fine and actually fun to drive, but as a family SUV (what you mentioned in your post), the CR-V definitely wins hands down because of crazy interior space, more comfort-oriented suspension, and better specs overall like active noise/sound control, resonators in the rim to reduce tire noise, and etc.
