Thanks Krzysztof! I love it too ;) If you want more, then get yourself a bridgeport. So far i love everything about it! Just bear in mind, if you daily it; if you lighten stuff it will become a pain to drive at slow speeds. (But i do NOT recommend dailying a rx8 anyway, so thats not an issue to me) powerrange is smooth, and more fierce above 6krpm.

@Do One Can't agree, nor disagree with you. The MSP is definitely nothing like the old 13b. Agree with you there. Also you won't gain as much power or sound as with the old model. But there's a definate difference in power between SP and BP. Have had the opportunity to try it out with two fresh rebuilds, BP won over and over. (not by much, but the difference is definately there) As for motorbikes, Yep, got them, drive them, and a nice trip on a bike goes above a drive in a car for me. Currently have a Kawa Z1000SX. Great tourer.

Was a slight bit faster than a brand new mazda msp engine. 0-100 Don't know the exact times, same for 100-200. Top speed also went up with a few km/h (have to love living close to the german border #autobahn) As for the power after the build, 214 hp on the wheels.

Damn, would love to hear that puppy running! Wouldn't be able to get a peripheral on the road here...

@@SidewaysCars you guys have old 13b rew and 13bt dont you ??? Housings are pretty much Straight swaps . I cant remember the company name who made a hybrid MSP. they kept the Side port exhaust and added the 13bturbo housing .

It's been good to me, only problem is the weather here in NL, they're de-icing the roads with salt and shit so I try to keep her in. Did take the car for a spin 2 weeks ago for a dutch car program on "autoblog". I've been super busy with work the past months and sadly no youtube-time... Hope to make a new video in january!

Yeah, bridgeport does use a fair bit more gas, but partially because of the right foot. I'd say, if you mind your gas expences whilst driving the rex, you're better off not bridging it. Too risky in my eyes. ;)

Gewoon te doen, maar eerlijk? Gekkenwerk. 40dkm dan moet je er toch een kopen met een nieuw of gereviseerd blok (door; Hoebeke of R&P, vraag naar het bonnetje!) of zelf een nieuw blok in laten leggen. Gaat toch n hoop tijd en geld in zitten en gezien je verleden met lease, t is niet zo dat als ie kapot gaat je kosteloos een vervangende auto hebt. Ga ervan uit dat een blok ca 100dkm mee gaat. Maar de rest van de auto heeft ook aandacht nodig. 'T is n auto die best dagelijks te rijden is, ken er zat die dat doen, maar mijn persoonlijke voorkeur voor een auto waar je 40dkm mee gaat rijden zou toch iets anders zijn. Laat dit je er niet van weerhouden, want de rx8 is echt heel leuk speelgoed. Maar hij is niet voor 40dkm/jaar gemaakt.

Matthew, break in is important for any engine. No matter if it's piston, rotary or runs on fairydust. Bevause I wanted 100% safety, and don't daily the car The breaking in would've taken me a year! RR added the service of breaking the engine in. Also for me added a sense of trust that the car was ready for whatever.

@Do One hmm, firstly, holy comment! Haha secondly.. I would have to disagree in part of the “break in” section of your comment. New seals/rings etc won’t necessarily cause damage or be damaged by intense revs and loads.. but they CAN be.. that’s why people highly recommend a safe break in period. Why take the risk when it’s not a big price to pay? Also, I too run a 5k limiter on mine when the engine is still cold, after it hits temp, it’s set at 9.4k 😁👍🏼

@@SidewaysCars no way Sold the rx8 . She must of been pretty thursty after getting the Bridgeport .

Wasn't the reason of selling it. Had it as a weekend car, so fuel use wasn't an issue. Just didn't connect to it after the breakdown I had with it even though it got rebuilt by RR again. Sad to see it in the garage as often as it was so it needed to go to the next happy owner.

@@SidewaysCars yeah Rotarys do have their Flaws . One of my good friends had a Full race bridgeport 13b N/A $15k just come out of the shop . He forgot to chuck premix into the fuel after a Stop at the petrol station . BOOOM

@@ClwnJuNkY And that wasn't even it. it was as lubed up as could be. premixed, AND oil injection through the SOHN adapter. it still went boom. Guestimate from the guys at the shop: to tight of a bearing on the excentric shaft. No warnings, no weird sounds, no power loss nada, just a great drive and a sudden death. RR did a sweet job of repairing it under warrantee, drove with it flawlessly for a couple of months, couple of thousand K, but never felt at ease while driving it. Although, it never failed at giving me a massive grin on my face. Man... what a car.

Thanks! Yeah, was a great car. Definately made me grin way too often. Not a clue about the mileage though, I sold the car about 2 years back. All I know it's still registered and insured as we speak, so hope the new owner is stil enjoying it.

Hi Fanta, Nice! I can only recommend it. The price will depend on your wishes and current labour cost. I've had mine done 3 years ago now. My suggestion would be to look for a well known rebuilder in your area/country/continent and get in contact with them. My experience with RR has been that their communications have been king. Once you know what you want the rebuilder can tell you the exact cost of the project. As mentioned; I brought the car away and had lots done besides the bridgeport, so saying what it cost me would not be representative of the rebuild only cost.

@@SidewaysCars ah ok yeah im in new zealand i know theres a place and for a full rebuild bridgeport and dyno tune costs around $13k and they're quite good at what they do (ppre, they built mad mikes quad rotor rx8) i was just wondering roughly how much it cost you or what else did you get done to it? i just want it to go brap brap

The rough idle is mostly compromised by the OEM ecu. they've already maxed out fuel ratio but "computer says no" it's apparent when idling or especially with a cold start. (don't forget, this is a 13B MSP and not the REW, those do sound really different)

Msp Bridgeports dont Brap like the Rew . But the Power is certainly there !!!!

alphawav3, currently running at 210,5hp at the wheels. Cost will vary depending on the shop you go to and what your wishes are. But my experience is, they're very willing to send you a quote. So I'd suggest if you're looking for a rebuild send them a few questions with your wishes, they'll respond with a fitting solution!

Where was this dyno'd? Did you get Rotary Revs to run the engine in for you? Thinking of going there myself, so always worth asking :)

I'm guessing you've never really looked in to any of that in detail? At Rotary Revs they also port the exhaust, besides the bridges and widening the original intakes. They genuinely do generate an increase in power. Also, I didn't go for a REW swap, because whilst looking in to this and writing up a budget, I just stopped at 20k, I wasn't even done at that stage. A REW swap is NOT cheap and definately not if you do it properly and want several upgrades. It's not a bolt on solution as many people think! I got the Rex back now, will be making a video soon, but very busy with work atm. Couldn't be happier with it!

Funny you say that... Cause it's dyno'd in the Netherlands by an independent company afterwards. And yes, if you look at factory specs 231hp then yes, it's lower than that... But have you ever dyno'd a new msp engine? they all do way less... a 231 will generate about 190hp. My engine pulled well above the 210 mark according to the DUTCH! well known dyno-company. But like I said, if you think you're going to get more than 230hp ever, you're fooled. (unless you turbo it) To figure out gains you should measure the engine before and after. And (bridge)porting does affect the power positively. Sure, on a REW it has a bigger effect. But to say it doesn't work or makes it worse is absolute c0ds - wallop.

Sideways Cars people dyno freshly built stock MSP’s all the time.. a great tune will yield more power..

RR sells the service of running in which I took on as I otherwise had to travel back to the uk again for the checkup and final tune. So yes, it had gone through it's run in period, got another service and tune up, before I collected it ;-)
