Great vid as always Calvin. I came from a stage 1 S3 to an RS3 and can agree with Ricky that they are completely different cars, even the PFL RS3. Stage 1 S3’s are little weapons and the ultimate daily as they provide comfort when you want it and punch there when you wanna have some fun on B roads. If you’re going to map a manual S3 I’d have money ready for a Sachs performance clutch.

I finally got my 2016 manual S3 remapped stage 1, to 363bhp. Massive lift in torque, too. Up to around 3k, the feel & the dyno agree, stock. But over that, really obvious extra performance. Makes me smile that the numbers are almost spot on the RS3 of the same age (pre-facelift). Shout out to Kim of QS Tuning. The car is an animal now. Watch out on motorways - you catch up during acceleration so darn quickly, you can give yourself a brake test 🤔 I like under-spoken, so for me, a stage 1 S3 is perfect. This car doesn’t need more, otherwise you’d need clutch work & updated brakes, minimum.

nice one chaps great video again,I own an S3 8V manual i'm old school so went for that plus the wife wasn't keen on the dsg,lol.i had a new clutch done on it not long after i got it on 50k then i got mine mapped as it was boring standard it made a massive difference and like you say chaps its a fast car and now feels more alive.

Quality stuff boys, love it 👍🏻 I own an Audi A4 1.8T manual Avant, it’s an old beast but timeless looks and I had it remapped about 2 years ago and compared to the stock software it just changed the hole characteristics of the car, it only got 5 gears so it runs out of legs at about 140 but she pulls all the way and in not much time either, love it!! Keep it up guys 👍🏻👍🏻

I'd always go manual over Auto. It just feels more mechanical.

Great video, I've had a manual s3 in the past and always wanted a dsg one, just test drove a a dsg golf r with a stage 1 that was impressive, the Audi's feel a better quality more premium car in my personal opinion

S3 and RS3 are pretty close believe it or not, tune for tune the RS3 might have about half a car length 0-100mph after that the RS3 will pull bit harder bit by bit. I prefer the S3 due to easy maintenance mainly and a lot will disagree with me but the S3 sounds better, I know the DAZA engine does sound incredible but that's what personal opinions are for right?

Good you mention about the clutch issue. I’ve a 2017 Octavia RS Tsi manual with less than 30k Km’s and clutch is slipping. 1k euros for a stage 1 clutch!

I was with you all the way until the ‘cop bashing’ bit... I like your videos, and came to this one for an insight into the S3 but maybe in the edit, just take a minute to think about some of the dialogue.... For a bit of context. You and Ricky drive HIGHLY desirable cars that actual gangsters break into your home where your family sleeps in the middle of the night to steal your keys and take off you to be used in further thefts, robberies, burglaries, ram raid etc.... The S3 is one of these.... Cops will therefore pay attention to any of these vehicles, especially if they’re in an area where they’re known to be stolen, or have recently been stolen (highly likely most areas) .... They have to look at the occupants and then the registration / description to then be able to identifying the vehicle... If it’s in trade (dodgy trade policies?) or of its insured to a lady born in 1965 and being driven by a man born in the 80’s but not listed on the insurance... This has to be done by 👀 at you... You also mention the tinted windows... This, funnily enough is something those criminals do to conceal who is within the car.... Yes, most people do it because it looks ‘cool’ but the cops have to look to see... These days, manufacturers tend to tint the windows forward of the B pillar to the maximum legal limit so any extra tint applied is illegal... Cops do however have other things to do, and are probably doing or looking for something else at the time... Changing number plates to say words etc... Is something else that’s illegal, but in the grand scheme of things... if you can read it... Probably best continuing to look for that human trafficking truck, or drug dealer etc... Most cops (especially traffic cops) like fast cars so don’t tend to want to persecute motorists who pay tax and insurance etc ... But if you’re hooning it about with tinted windows you are just drawing attention to yourselves 😬... If your Golf R, or Ricky’s BMW was the one that was stolen, you’d want the cops to pay attention to it and check it out wouldn’t you?... They’re not gangsters.... The gangsters are the ones that steal your pride and joy hopefully with a keyless coding gadget rather than invading your home at 3am in balaclavas with machetes.... I’m not saying they’re all like that, there are bad apples in every walk of life. I’m sure you know some bad car dealers... But the majority are there to help and protect people and property.... You may or may not have heard that there have recently been one cop murdered, and one seriously injured in the line of duty attending just such incidents of car key burglaries whereby the cop has put himself in harms way to protect a complete stranger and their property... It isn’t because of race or creed or anything, it’s their job to be inquisitive and suspicious until they are satisfied that the car is legal and safe... Unfortunately Golf R’s, S3’s, RS3’s/4’s fast BMW’s etc are all prime targets and I would hazard a guess when you’re reviewing them they don’t hang around... Just a thought, keep up the good videos. 👍🏼

A standard S3 is Quick enough for every day use you can remap a car but what everyone always fails to remember re-mapping a car brings problems in the long term. Ask most mechanics they will agree if they don’t ask how long the warranty is once they remap your car ? Trust me daddy keep it Standard if you’re gonna keep the car long-lol.
