The 54th Deadline - Nhan Pham Yeah those were fun days indeed. I've been around since Metal Raiders with only a few Hiatuses taken due to financial reasons only. Fun days indeed.
there's so many ways around that though. magic jammer. laugh at your face. or just soul swap him into summon skull next turn. what about traps like sakuretsu armor? (edit: or magic cylinder?)
I just recently started getting back into Yugioh after not playing since I was a kid over 10 years ago. So it would actually have been nice for him to read the card text so I could remember what they did, not to mention I have never heard of a few of these.
It’s hilarious how much Yu-Gi-Oh! has changed since you made this video a year ago. Sangan, Witch of the Black Forest, and Monster Reborn are back and the censored version has now been printed for the TCG.
i hate how some banned cards are so weak now and still are banned. the new card like xyz and pendulum made it too hard for me to understand the game. Sagan and witch of the black forest. dam
Adam aius I think there should be at least 2 leagues in Yugioh - Retro (No Synchro, Xyz, or Pendulum) and modern (where the 3 are allowed) so we can all have a blast. I enjoy new.mechanics in Yugioh but still remember my early Yugioh days, back in Metal Raiders.
>new card >Xyz We're talking about 7 years ago, man. And the Xyz are so easy to use, what problem you have to don't understand anymore a card game? lol
I remember united we stand and scapegoat being cute as fuck. But id say back in my chaos days my favorite card was painful choice. Quite litterally never lost when i resolved that card. Those were so good days.
Vivi23 Blue23 not banned funny enough, draw power wasn't as OP as the game was based around tribute summoning, I was a late "GX" player mainly so I don't go back this far but anyway, hope this cleared that up haha
Chrono Bound okay so about that there is 0 reason not to run 3 pot of greed as it is pure benefit for no cost unless there's cold way but that applies for all spells and traps
Thank you all for the recent support on my videos and channel. It means a lot to me as a content creator! Happy Holidays and thank you all again, please show your continued support by liking my videos and engaging with them! I love interacting with you guys more than you'll ever know!
Have not played in years but question, if I fusion summon sandwitch, would the effect of sagan and witch of the black forest activate if they where on the field at the time of the fusion?
mirror was banend but what about crimson fire the same pic on the cards XD the crimmson fire is like a return dubble the damge you would take by a attack is that what mirror do to ?
January 2019 Update: Chaos Emperor Dragon: Returned to 1, but it's been errata'd so you can't use any other card's effects once it nukes the field. Witch of the Black forest and Sangan: Errata'd so you can't use the effects of the cards you searched this turn. They've returned to 3. Yata-Garasu: Still Banned. Will probably stay banned. Black Hole: Still at 1, but I think it was Forbidden for a time. Delinquent Duo: Banned now, and will probably never come back unless it's HEAVILY errata'd. Graceful Charity: Banned now. Can never come back since so many cards activate from the GY. Harpie's Feather Duster: Banned now, but has a following of people who believe it should return. Monster Reborn: On and off the Forbidden and Limited lists. Limited at the moment. Raigeki: Was forbidden for a while. Currently limited. United we Stand: Returned to 3. The current Meta does not favor equip cards. Mirror Force: Returned to 3. Most removal is by card effects, not battle. Imperial Order: Got Errata'd, but is still at 1. Trent: Still banned. Too powerful.
Some suggestions: Write out/practice a script beforehand so you don't "uhhh" so much. You use the word "very" a lot. Occasionally is fine, but it's just a filler word. It felt like you fidgeted with the cards too much. Switching them between hands occasionally got annoying, at least for me. Finally, maybe a detailed explanation of each card's effect and why it specifically was banned would be nice, instead of just saying it was very overpowered. Otherwise though, nice list, commenting how these cards aren't broken anymore was a good touch.
Ah the memories. I didn't had HFD back then, and even though I had the ImOr I really never use it. But hell I abused the CED + Searcher + Yata lock. That is why I had 10 good decks of different types, attribute or type centered to have fun, because playing with my main deck always would had gotten pretty boring pretty fast. On the other hand, I remember pretty fun times with my Light, Warrior and Fire decks, burning wasn't as bad back then, Warriors have always been the ones with better support and Light was just pretty and practical.
the ocg ban list appeared in march 2004. lily, yata, and fiber jar were the latest cards on the list. HFD, raigeki, painful choice, imperial order, change of heart and delinquent duo and cyber jar were the first 10 banned cards.
it is very nice to see this list. the erata have pens in the ocg a ton and apparently re-release pf opd cards but better (like ancient gear golemn and gandora). it is fun to look back now and see that a lot of the ifs became reals (atleast in ocg)
I haven't played yugioh since the second season of the show, but I remember playing with these cards. Back then I was a kid and didn't realize how good these cards were.
Chaos Emperor Dragon will be removed from the banned list as it's going to be getting a reprint, as will; Yata-Garasu and Sangan. Maximum Crisis is going to be having the reprint of Chaos Emperor as well as the debut release of the Mega Monarchs for Kuraz, Delg and Angmarl.
Sangan was back for awhile, I remember because in 2013-2014 when I started playing it was unbanned, though it got rebanned not too long after but got unbanned along with Witch alongside an errata.
In one of the games, I got a copycat to 6300 attack because of united we stand, I copied a Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, used Yami to boost copycat up 200 and used united we stand and got it up eventually to 6300. Amazing card back in the day
Imperial Order not coming back without an errata? Heh. Heh heh. HA. Predicting the future intch, predicting the future. Best part is that it's still broken.
Well, yeah. Since Premium Gold 2, we can easily say that some of these forbidden cards will come back but will have an errata. I can guess that Evilswarm Exciton Knight will be made exclusively for evilswarm decks like e. ophion and e. bahamut are
I'm surprused Last Turn and Self-Destruct Button weren't bammed on the first list. Spidey from Underground channel gave a perfect explanation for why these cards are broken. "You know that game we were playing? Yeah, fuck that."
back then, I used to think celtic guardian didn't suck because it wasn't destroyed by crush card virus and you could special summon it with last will...
+Cherry Inmato He is MVP in a top deck situation. The arguments that i can be easily destroyed by every spell and trap doesn't work because you dont draw into your torrential, mirror force or solemn strike in such a situation because yata's eff. Even if its bricks on your starthand its just dumb to allow a card that auto wins you the game in a top decking situation. Also its just painful to watch seeing him attack for 200 damage...
+twitertaker A lot of decks have ways to get extra summons to make the kill not as slow. :P But basically,, yata does perfectly lock out your opponent of their main deck, so they have to be able to stabablize with what they have now. And if you have been removing enough of their stuff, including back row, they can't recover. Pendulum summoning isn't an out if galaxy cyclone hit one of your scales.
I hate that there is a ban list, I only got back into it and I saw all these banned cards and I was quite sad. I think the best part of the game was trying to build a deck which could counter act powerful cards, for example if they had harpies feather duster and you used griffons wing to reflect the effect, or regeki and anti regeki, even magic or trap jammer could easily break these powerful cards
Not sure why this showed up in my recommendations. Coincidentally though, it's stuff like this is why I stopped playing Yugioh a long time ago when I found out it existed. The limited card rule I can understand, but a flat out ban? That should never be a thing for something I spent money getting. Sure, I could play with just a small circle of friends who ignore tournament rules, but even the less strict limited list was constantly changing. Eventually, I lost interest. No offense to any who still enjoy the game of course.
Gakuto Nah I lost interest in Yu-Gi-Oh (IRL) a couple years ago due to it being a scam. It promotes both a toxic and expensive mentality of where one card can be worth an entire deck or a stupid amount of money plus Konami openly manipulates the goal posts with the combination of OCG rarity versus TCG rarity, ban lists (after the money is made) and reprints. I personally stick to Yu-Gi-Oh pro online where I can have a competitive duel for FREE when the mood strikes me.
Andre Stewart Yeah, that was my other major reason. It is a damn expensive game especially for being marketed mainly for ages 12-16, those without jobs. Even at 25, my age now, I still think card games are too expensive in general whether it's yugioh or magic or whatever.. The other reason is that there was constantly new types of cards being added, and old cards constantly getting lowered in tier. If you wanted to be competitive you HAD to get the new cards, and also learn the new rules. Eventually it became overwhelming both in terms of my patience and on my wallet.
Gakuto Yeah and now Arc-V is coming to an end who knows what gimmick Konami will pull out in Gen 6? hybrid ritual fusion monsters?, a new type of monster like Demons?, being able to summon monsters by doing the hokey pokey? also I think the new protagonist looks ridiculous, (even for Yu-Gi-Oh anime standards lol). Call it nostalgia but I believe Synchro's were the peak for me (it is also believed the contact fusions of the Neos archetype were the antithesis of synchro summoning too), Six samurai and Blackwings FTW!!!.
Andre Stewart I think I quit playing a bit before synchro cards became a thing. I remember hearing about them, but I quit a bit after the Envoy era I think because my main deck was a light and darkness deck based around Envoy of the Beginning and Envoy of the End. I did invest a shit ton of money into that game though. I remember making like 12 different decks all being either at least decent or competitive. I might consider checking prices soon. Hopefully I can make something off them now. I used to be really into that game. lol
I guess I stopped playing the game right around when this banlist hit because I played with all those cards. Most were staples to have in any deck. Good times. I'm more interested in MTG and Pokemon these days but still fun to look back on this stuff.
Damn looking back I had every single back in the day. I haven't played Yu Gi Oh since literally like 2005 or 2006 but I had no idea there were banned back then.
man I have so much nostalgia. how this game has changed. (not that the game is bad now though. I kinda cried at United we stand actually lol. because I love equip decks. I don't see much anymore)
also i kinda disagree strongly with Yata lol, Sangan will be back and it will totally search it, just splash it in a consistant deck that nukes the field and boom XD, - and did i mention CED will be back with errata - we had decent counters for him even back then, we had searchers to use against being Yata locked even back then, so you can be forgetting those arguments already, even without the CED combo i can still see Yata being banned back in the day regardless cause not having the power to draw ever is simply unfair any meta ever.... so there's that.
lol I have a Witch of the Black Forest card, I recently got back into yugioh and I have some really old cards and I did research on them and the newer ones I had I never realized that I wasn't really over paying for the cards
Due to the current game of yugioh I am going to work on making a white-list for the classic game that lists all the usable cards for any player to be able to use in their decks while taking balance and older cards into the aspects so that older cards are no longer relevant, as of now the list is not officially noticed by Konami so it will not be implemented into ANY OFFICIAL tournaments or events but is always usable with local groups and your social circle so you and your friends/family can still play with the old cards you have and always have a balanced list to set as a foundation of which cards are fair and which ones are not. I hope you all enjoy and have a wonderful day, May all your duels end in your victory!!! (:
I will have a video on my RU-vid channel for those of you interested when I am done with the list, I am working on many things in addition to my personal life so please be patient. Keep in mind: The fans and crowd make something a reality not the creator. What that means is that you (the duelists and fans) of YuGiOh make it what it is not the company that made it.)
pot just gives you 1 card charity 3 you cant do special with pot ,you can with charity in some decks you can discard the cards you need in the graveyard they are really diferent in a lot of ways
+ALEXIs colmenares graceful gives you 3, then you discard 2. it lets you keep special summoning, it lets you TECHNICALLY draw one card and it also mills two cards from your deck. basically a better pot of duality.
you thin your deck with charity something very important when you thing of consistency and lest say you start with 5 cards and use charity now you have 4 then draw 3 and discard 2 in the end you have 5 cards again an that translate in +0 in card advantage same with pot few are the cards that gives you an actual plus and with pot you have to give too much in comparison to just draw 1 card
Eli Reid I disagree. The duel won't last long enough for that to matter most likely and it's still a must play. The mandatory cost in my opinion doesn't matter bc it's more than worth it for keeping your opponent from playing spells
simplemandude original series decks can't compete with xyz or pendulum monsters. you can try it all you want but pretty much everything pre 5ds is useless at this point
yes I know original series decks no longer compete, this is why I quit. because of the power creep. but Yata Garasu is a winner all by itself. it stops a draw and that is a killer no matter how you look at it.
simplemandude stopping a draw isn't really a game over. there are so many cards that can either negate monster spell or trap effects or strategies that you don't have to draw at all to win. you can get an entire field of xyz monsters out on the first turn due to card effects and special summoning. but the true thing that kills the game immediately is if your first hand is bad. if you get a bad hand at first you have almost no chance of winning.
The only real situation when Yata is good is if you can resolve him when the opponent has a dead hand with nothing he can summon to defend that you can't remove, or any graveyard effects he can use. In all other situations, he's a dead card. So, super situational.
It was useless until they dropped trickstars, namely the trap card "trickstars reincarnation" it banishes your opponents hand then they draw 5 cards, but you then activate Oasis of the dragon, call of the haunted, or return to the front lines to get protector of the sanctuary (opponent can only draw cards during the draw phase) then you smack down yata for a new version of the yata lock
Lucy Koo Here’s a song for idiots that think that dark hole and fissure are perfect examples for graceful charity and pot of duality -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OLpeX4RRo28.html
So you really have no idea what the value of a once per turn is... or special summons... or being able to discard whatever you want from your hand... or the fact that you’re letting your enemy see three cards from your deck, one of which goes into your hand? It’s a self-replacer that lets you pick from a few options. But it has none of the bonuses and a million more downsides. It doesn’t thin your deck any more than Upstart, it shows your enemy two cards that you might be drawing soon, it can’t get valuable cards into your graveyard, and it pretty much instantly ends your turn in most decks. As opposed to Graceful Charity which is so good because of the ridiculous amount of thinning, the ability to keep ALL THREE new cards if you want, being able to put high priority effects into your graveyard for easy access, the spammability when it’s above 1, and can completely change the actions of your turn, as opposed to putting a massive wall in front of you. Plus, your enemies can’t see the cards you draw, unlike Duality.
Dark Hole, Mirror Force and Raigeki are the equivalent of Draw 4 and the Blue Shell. They ruin friendships. Also, I hope Imperial Order never gets unbanned. Seriously, fuck that card.
Roar Actually there is a better version that makes every monster facedown permently which shuts down a lot of decks today as they need their extra decks to xyz fusion or sync
It's not that good anymore. High attack is only good when you can actualy swing for game, the card doesn't really help you get there. And most good decks can already easily swing without it.
