Hello my name is Mike, Ive been so interested in becoming a truck driver, but don't know where to begin. I don't know if I should go to school for my CDL or just go get the book and study myself and then take the test? Just don't know.. I know going to school is expensive for me right now. Is there companies out there that will put you thru school to get your CDL? If there is companies out there that do that I would be so appreciated for information on that .. Thank you and God bless!!

Blogging Trucker Trusted Reviews. He sounds like a good guy but...When you drive a truck even for someone else and his or her truck he or she is not your boss. Right? It is a mutual thing and not one sided and seniority should never mean shit in trucking. I have driven for companies before. My deal was I realize I need a job but you have six months and look at my truck and physically walk your ass out and climb up and look inside and out and then after if I am not happy and you are not happy then I will leave. First time I came into the yard with an 80s FLD single bunk full on horizontal hood which I really liked driving I was offered a classic 90s classic with a tilt wheel and 60 inch walk in but the freakin bumper was bent. Nah. Can you put new paint on this one with all wheels aluminum and a sweet headache rack enclosed with strong lumber tarp racks over the sleeper? Yeah budy I will take a 13 speed 4 and a quarter ove a 10 speed 4 and a quarter 4 and a quarter on the cruise and 365 on the gas any day. I eventually took a Classic with a 60 inch and 500 Cat with an 18 speed ordered special for me the other new trucks were FLDs with semi auto trannies. Then they bought Pete's stand ups with less gauges and super tens. I got tired of flatbed and needed experience in either chicken hauling or bull hauling. I pulled chickens for a while and Holy Shit! Triple logging to to California and then Garbage to the east coast with a load back to load more chicken to the west coast. With produce it seems everything had to come from the field and then iced up and then loaded. Always 4, 5 or 6 hours. Never 8 to 10 hours 4 days in the week. Then doing the Hunts Point 2500 from Friday to Monday morning. Then.. I was lucky because the company would dead head us back to Arkansas to load more dead chickens on Friday to deliver Monday morning and then most of the week loading garbage for NYC. So I had Wednesday mostly and Thurday off very rarely did I do less than 15 over. Or ever run less than two logs. Peanut butter and boxers is a Chicken Hauler or used to be friends and I always left the house with dirty laundry. DOT would really want to get you really bad with skid marked undies and the stench of sweat. If ever they did then God fuckin' Bless 'em. Because they would be doing their jobs. But I am a Truck Driver and in 40 years never hurt or killed anyone or even pushed by dispatchers. Either I can or can't. I will tell you now I don't do overnight loads. If so I would be making big money for some stupid idiots like Wally World or Buster Brown and in the case of FedEx... Fuckin Dumbasses Entering the....I can't figure out the "X" yet but we see them all the time on the road. I don't waste time going around them. If I'm heavy I will back off, pick up speed and get around them as fast as I can. As for the Cabover Pete. I would pay him to drive it but... more for a real cabover Pete with original round headlights. Peterborough came out with two newer versions of their cabovers one with a single flat windshield with two curved glass pieces at the corners But with both they did not have the sweater windows in the doors. The door windows were the same doors on the hood Pete's without the old twist handles that stuck out. As for LED headlights? I classify them with "Good Buddy" lights. If anyone can remember that? You know what? Don't flash your brights at night to let me know if I am clear to come over. If I am watching the mirror then now I am fucking blnded. If you can't shut your headlights off and that afraid of the dark then don't do shit because a can see in my mirror and know when I am clear to come back over in the granny lane. Truck drivers used to know this. Apparently not any more. Now I see drivers on the big road with brights and driving/foglights on all the fucking time. How about a little ficking courtesy out here now? He'll truck drivers now on the big road seem to love the brights just like the idiot four wheelers. But?? What do I expect when the fuel desk has high viz vest wearing idiot in flip flops? I ain't trashing flip flops in the least. But??? A vest that is high vis against a seat back in shorts and flip flops? Where is the reasoning? Bullshit Safety shit and a corporation that gives you a job. With as stupid as the world is today what is with high visibility? Orange seat belts? I remember the 70s strike. I also remember the DC Snipers. I know how many idiots are in the world too. The last thing yo want to be is high visibility. 40 years in a truckstop or fuelstop I have never run over anyone even coal black lotlizards in black dresses. Or whatever. So why would you drive a truck with a chatrues orange seat belt or wit a high viz vest? And if you put it backwards on the idiot seat then three feet right is the target. Yeah I was in the Army and a weapons specialist aside from normal MOS es. There are some really crzy/insane people out there. Hell people now with PHDs are idiots. Safety is one thing and overeducated dictation is another. I guess that is why I wear more green, brown and black t shirts and if I have to where a chartrues vest then find someone else to pull the load. I know the sounds of gunfire and when I hear it if enough to go "ghost." Just like during Corona. Look if they want the shit and I got to wear a mask under a crane or with a forklift. If they want the shit then unload it without any hindrance of my voice yelling for them to stop or refuse it and I will get paid both ways. That is practice Safety and not the so called educated safety from college educated idiots that run around telling people how to be safe. My trailer cost me 40 thousand dollars. A bent rub rail? Yeah if I yell to stop it can't be muted be damned a pandemic. If you bend my rubrail I may beat you to death and my rubrics are still totally straight. Still. The load may be theirs but the traders are mine. I will not look fucked up going down the road. For all the flatbedders never ever wrap your straps around the rubrail. Always run your straps under the rub rail. The Great State of Texas requires it. A rubrail is called a rubrail for a reason and a flt deck the stones point is the deck not the rail and you should be checking strap constantly on both sides and never ever winch all straps on on side. Even Below the height of the truck. Just common sensecsafety instead of bullshit educated Safety. There is no excuse for ever rolling a truck on a curve, wind or shifting load. I haven't. 40 fucking years and swinging meat, bulls, molding and more specialized even really high and heavy.

He’s absolutely right about taking pride in your ride. It definitely gives the customer some piece of mind to see how you take care of your equipment, you’re gonna give their load the same treatment! His grandfather & father taught him well!! I’ve actually gotten out of detailed inspections because the officer saw how clean my truck was inside and out & didn’t bother holding me up! #PrideInYoRide #Trukn4life💯👏🏾🎯😎👊🏾🚛💨💨

She didn’t even make us do half the stuff cause she didn’t want to mess up our truck.

That's pure gold fact. When the inspector walks up to a truck they look at the general condition of the rig. If its spotless the inspector knows you take pride in the appearance of the rig, if anything that goes wrong will be addressed ASAP. They wont have 3-4 broken leaf springs or worn out brakes under a years worth of dirt and grime. They dont want to waste your or their time, so they go over to inspect the old mack spewing coal covered in dirt that just pulled in, sharpening their pencil as they do.

He's right about having your trucks /equipment clean . When I worked in Atlanta, that's how we got our largest contract . A property Management company manager was looking for a company that could it all. From North Carolina to Atlanta to Pensacola Florida down to Boca Raton Florida. Of course Atlanta was the biggest. I believe it was 29 Shopping centers . Anyway he wanted someone that he could make one phone call and have it done , no matter what. He saw our trucks running around clean , all of our employees wore the same uniforms , red shirts and khaki pants and a cap. When I left the company for health reasons the contract was near 4 million dollars a year. We were a well oiled machine.

@Ethan Yost don’t get all bent out of shape just because your parents didn’t build a legacy for your family. Look at it from this perspective. You still have the opportunity to build one. You get to be the one!! Does anyone remember what Henry Ford’s dads name was?? No, because he didn’t build a legacy. My parents blessed me with one amazing thing, my work ethic. That’s all I need. I can handle it from there. I just feel bad for people who look down on successful people, as if they are evil or selfish. Liberty and Independence, personal property and private property are the cornerstones to any successful society.

@Ethan Yost Ethan i wasn’t implying that you should look up to this guy or want to be like him. I just get the feeling that you are envious of this guy. Envy is a very troubling thing. It says a lot about you and how you feel about yourself. Jealousy is “I see what you have, and I’m mad because i don’t have it.” Envy is far worse though. Envy is “ I see what you have. I don’t think I will ever be able to get what you have, so I don’t think you should be able have it either.” That’s just a hopeless place to be.

Knowing the Timblin family for many years, drove for Trev the old man! Sorry Trev but yes the old man , and his son was just a little kid, this family is all trucking and nothing but trucking! And there is nothing they don’t know, about trucking, great family, and believe me when it comes to family that means more than trucking, to them! I drive for Homers out of Milwaukee which are good family friends to Trev, the Pete in the pic, next to my name in my comments is one of the glider Pete’s, we bought from Trev. From the same lot of Pete’s he bought! Same as the Pete he had in the shop next to his grand dads cab over! We do a lot of loads for Trev, great company, and yes they need drivers, great company to drive for! If I wasn’t at Homers, I would be back there! Great vids on on the Timblins, true American trucking family

Believe it or not, my family and I were site seeing in Minneapolis St. Paul, and one of his day cab 379's pulled up next to me at a stop light. Was able to tell him that I seen his rig looking clean, be safe driver and that I seen it on the Asian Mai show!!!! Your killing it with show casing great rigs and companies. Sometimes I wish I would of been a Trucker than a firefighter but that's my blood line.

Oh man! I wish you were close to me here. I’d love to work for you. My uncle taught me how to truck the right way. Take care of your ride and your ride will take care of you. I’ve used that in everything I do and never had any issues.

States are getting smarter and smarter about weights. Here in Mich.We can haul up to 161k on a what we call gravel trains. It’s nothing new but the automakers wanted larger loads of steel out of Canada and steel producing states next door to Mi. Canada used “B” trains which we also use but different combinations are capable of hauling different gross weights.

After buying a Chevy 2500HD with a Duramax in it I just can't imagine how much this guy spends to maintain just one of these beasts. It is probably around $25k a year per truck on maintenance as a guess. Crazy money!! I don't know how anyone can drive several thousand miles in a week every week. I could never do that. I take a 3hr drive one way once a month and I can't stand that drive lol.

The drives can be really amazing when you're out west driving thru the mountains on i84 thru OR or i90 MT or it can rly suck if you're anywhere near Manhatten new jersey or Chicago lol. It's all an experience though and definitely something that doesn't ever get boring!
